Crye’s AirLite technology, first debuted at SHOT Show 2012 is now available for order from Crye Precision. There are four models of plate carriers to choose from depending on which plates you use and what features you want as well as a chest rig that can be worn in conjunction with the AirLite series of carriers as well as Crye’s LV-MBAV and LV-RBAV. Unfortunately, they don’t offer a set of strap accessories for stand alone use yet.

FirstSpear’s Emergency Response Kit is a medical pouch that allows for quick access of individual medical components. The ERK is composed of two pieces: the body and insert. The insert is a fold out envelope that holds medical components via elastic retention bands and stores inside the body. The body features a deployment handle that pulls the insert out of the soft shell stretch pocket; it can be mounted to deploy either up or down. Maritime-resistant plastic snaps provide additional security to the activation handle so it won’t open when you least expect it. The ERK is designed to mount to MOLLE/PALS using FirstSpear’s propriatary 6/9 technology.

Available in Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, and MultiCam.

The Mystery Cinch

Thursday, October 31st, 2013

When the Mystery Conch first came out, we created a quick video to show you how it works.

But Mystery Ranch has done us ne better and produced a great video that not only shows how it works but also how to install it.

Mystery Ranch | Mystery Cinch from Mystery Ranch on Vimeo.

The Mystery Cinch was designed to improve the comfort of nearly any pack over body armor. Now issued to every Marine as part of their new pack system, the Mystery Cinch routes a pack’s shoulder straps out of the user’s armpits and effectively marries the pack straps to the user’s armor. You can shoulder a weapon easier, blood flow to hands increases and overall comfort and fatigue levels are improved. When you’re ready to jettison the pack, simply unsnapping and pulling the quick-release webbing immediately releases the pack straps. It works for everybody, not just Marines.

Beez Combat Systems – Triple AK Shingle

Thursday, October 31st, 2013

New from Beez Combat Systems, the BCS AK47 triple magazine shingle is designed to carry three 30 round AK47 magazines. The open top 3 mag AK47 shingle can be mounted to any PALS compatible vest or plate carrier. The shingle has some unique features not found on other AK shingles.

The back of the triple mag shingle has four rows of PALS webbing for attachment. The shingle can be attached with MALICE clips, Speed clips and other clip systems on the market.

In order to to reduce weight, keep it low profile and provide a distinctly different shingle to the market, BCS angled the corners of both the top and bottom to give it a unique look. The AK mags fit in the shingle perfectly in both direction because of the curve of the mag.
The internal pouch provides additional storage for small items and increases the carrying capacity. The pouch is secured with 2” Velcro across the entire length of the pouch.

For additional information on this or other A-TACS Camo items in their line, or to purchase, visit them online at www.beezcombatsystems.com.

AUSA – Revision

Monday, October 21st, 2013

20131021-142947.jpg

We stopped by Revision and they showed us a couple of technologies that they are adapting for use in USSOCOM’s TALOS (Tactical Assault Lightweight Operator Suit) program. The Prowler was developed with Canadian firm B-tema and serves as a lower extremity enhancement exoskeleton. Revision is also working to offer armor panels for the Prowler that will protect the legs and in particular the femoral artery from threats.

“Revision is committed to developing next generation Soldier protection. Two key technology programs that were launched at AUSA this year are the ‘Advanced Head Protection System (AHPS),’ and the ‘Prowler Human Augmentation,’ system.

The AHPS is a rifle round stopping helmet, with full maxillo facial protection, integrated electronics, integrated heads up display to Android, and pneumatic liner system that meets the new 14.1 fps impact requirement. The AHPS was developed in concert with the US Army Labs Natick.

The Prowler, is Revision’s Human Augmentation device. It increases a soldiers metabolic reserve while preventing short and long term injuries. The Prowler allows our soldiers to be more lethal on the objective while increasing deployability through reduced injury. The Prowler, has been tested by SOCOM and CANSOFCOM, and is under contract with the US Army Labs Natick. Shown to provide a 33% mechanical advantage, the Prowler proves to be the next human augmentation system.

Both systems are continuing to be innovated in support of several DoD and international programs as well as SOCOM’s TALOS program.”

Revision also showed us their .30 protective helmet solution that was originally developed for the US Army but is being adapted to the TALOS requirement. The Advanced Head Protection System will incorporate a .30 protective mandible and visor as well as the pneumatic, adjustable padding system and dual ratchet-style adjustment already available from Revision.
