Former U.S. Navy SEAL Cade Courtley to Host “America Unplugged”

NEW BERLIN, WI (May 28, 2014) – Imagine a world where Americans no longer rely on local government for electricity, water, sanitation, heating, and cooling. The lifestyle of living “off the grid” is how more than 400,000 Americans choose to live every day. Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor television for American sportsmen and women, will chronicle the men and women who live a self-sustaining life in a new series called America Unplugged, airing exclusively on Sportsman Channel beginning on Thursday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

You can watch a sneak peek of America Unplugged here: http://bit.ly/1tQKUeh

In addition to the estimated 400,000 Americans living off the grid, there are millions more taking proactive steps towards a lifestyle of self-reliance by stocking pantries, installing generators, and completely adjusting their lives. America Unplugged will reveal individuals, families and other groups across America who choose to live a self-sustaining lifestyle and remove themselves from some of the creature comforts of modern day.

“America Unplugged will reflect the spirit of Sportsman Channel’s ‘Red, Wild & Blue’ lifestyle,” said Marc Fein, executive vice president of programming and production for Sportsman Channel. “Viewers will get a true understanding, through very unique and refreshing stories, of Americans who have chosen to live off the grid and lead an independent lifestyle. Cade Courtley is the perfect host to help us tell those stories.”

Former U.S. Navy SEAL/Sniper Cade Courtley will highlight unique and fascinating stories about eight Americans – some with families – who have ‘pulled the plug.’ The series will chronicle the painstaking effort required to live exclusively off the land and the daily struggle to provide food and shelter.

Courtley’s goal is to become the “American face of survival.” He will use his credentials and ambition to host America Unplugged and speak about the topics of living a non-dependent lifestyle. Courtley will introduce viewers to civilians who are taking significant steps to control their own safety, survival, and self-reliance in the wake of natural disasters and civil disturbances. The former U.S. Navy SEAL/Sniper and Security Contractor has spent more than 15 years in some of the most hostile places on the planet and has produced/written/acted/hosted/consulted for successful Hollywood films and television shows, as well as authored the 2012 book: “A Navy SEAL’s Secrets to Surviving Any Disaster.”

The host will share his unique experiences and add perspective as to why millions of Americans are living off the grid. Sportsman Channel is partnering with A. Smith & Co. Productions’ executive producers Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Frank Sinton and Michael Braverman on a project that will deliver real stories from real people. A. Smith & Co. Productions has produced several hit programs including: Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and American Ninja Warrior.

America Unplugged airs exclusively on Sportsman Channel, Thursday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Vertx Joins GMS Racing For 2014 Season

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014

Will Serve as Primary Sponsor for Joey Coulter at Kansas Speedway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 1, 2014) – GMS Racing is pleased to announce Vertx®, a tactical and outdoor apparel brand, has joined the team as a partner for the 2014 season. Vertx® will serve as primary sponsor for driver Joey Coulter and the No. 21 Chevrolet Silverado team in this week’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.

“Teaming up with such a quality company like Vertx®, is really an exciting opportunity, not only for myself, but my No. 21 team and all of GMS Racing as a whole,” said Coulter. “I am excited to help kick off the partnership at Kansas this weekend in my Vertx® Silverado, I have always really enjoyed racing there.”

In addition, Vertx®, the “Official Tactical Clothing Supplier of GMS Racing,” will be an associate sponsor on all GMS entries in the Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards for the remainder of the 2014 season.

“We are really excited to welcome Vertx® to the GMS Racing family,” Nic Moncher, GMS Racing Team Manager, said. “Vertx® prides themselves on top-performance in all aspects of their business, while not compromising the function of their products. Our team looks to do the same with every Chevrolet we bring to the racetrack, so we believe this partnership is going to be good for both companies.”

Born out of necessity, Vertx® was established after a top federal agency approached a group of award-winning designers with one simple request – to develop a line of apparel bearing full tactical features and a low-profile appearance for covert application. Since hitting shelves in 2009, Vertx has evolved into a brand known for durability, fit and function, crossing over into the lifestyle of operational athletes. With performance in the forefront, Vertx® delivers the best in apparel and accessories, from durable yet comfortable pants to feature-rich every day carry bags and packs.

“Working with GMS Racing and Joey is the perfect fit for Vertx®,” Ginger Rohlfs, Vertx® Director of Marketing stated during a recent visit to their headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. “Our roots run deep in military and law enforcement, with both sectors fully aware of the functionality of Vertx®. The natural next step is to partner with others who require high performance apparel and what better place to demonstrate this than on the track and in the garage?”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to action next Friday night, May 9, at Kansas Speedway. Coulter and his No. 21 Vertx® Chevrolet team will take the green flag shortly after 8:30 PM Eastern. FOX Sports 1 will carry the live television broadcast, while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will have live radio coverage.

‘Dual Survival’ Star Cody Lundin Sets Record Straight

Dual Survival Clarification by Cody Lundin

Dear Campers,

Unfortunately, flurries of season four press releases by Discovery Channel have caused unnecessary confusion. Initial press releases implied that I was returning for the entire fourth season of Dual Survival. Not true. Later releases featured quotes from a new Discovery executive producer implying that I quit the show. Not true. Further releases implied that I couldn’t “hack” the show anymore and that I was unable to handle the survival scenarios. Not only are these implications completely false, they question my professional experience, expertise and integrity in a manner that I will not tolerate.

Given the promotional approach chosen by Discovery, I am left with no choice but to speak out to defend my reputation and career as a professional survival instructor with 25 years of experience. To be clear, the implications of my involvement in, and departure from, season four of Dual Survival in the network’s public statements have been inaccurate, uncalled for, unacceptable and untrue. It’s shocking to me that Discovery would treat anyone in this manner, and I am disappointed that this media organization would put its own reputation at risk by choosing sensationalism over facts.

Discovery is well aware of the actual circumstances that led to my firing from the show – circumstances that in no way resemble the message that the network has chosen to present so far. While I have not yet felt the need to address our differences in a much larger public forum, I won’t hesitate to do so if that is what is required to protect my integrity and my career. If the network continues to put forth a narrative regarding my departure, I expect it to do so in a respectful, fact-based way that allows us to part in a professional manner that will not harm either of our future interests.

The network should be aware that programming of this nature must be produced and marketed in a responsible manner with the highest level of regard for the safety and health of the hosts, production personnel, and members of the viewing public. I have shared this message with them many times. Failure to observe this standard could have tragic consequences that, with proper precaution, can be avoided. There can be no compromise when dealing with people’s lives.

It is true that I was scheduled to shoot all episodes for season four, but as I was fired due to differences over safety and health concerns, I filmed only four shows. The shows I participated in were filmed in Sri Lanka, Oman, and Norway. Matt Graham, one of the people from “Dude, you’re screwed” was hired to replace me. As Discovery moves forward with launching the new season of Dual Survival, I hope the network will choose a different tactic for the presentation and marketing of the show that is not at my expense.

On a brighter note, my farewell post was shared more than 720,000 times on Facebook alone with thousands of supportive comments from fans. I very much appreciate the continued support and hope this letter clears up any confusion.

Stay true and never waiver.
Sincerely, Cody Lundin
