What Do Ya Know, We Were Right – Joseph Teti to Co-host Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival”

Wednesday, December 26th, 2012

Back in July we predicted that Joe Teti would be the new co-host for Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival.” Turns out, we were right. Look for the premier of the new season on 1 January.

It’s well known in the prepper community that the Discovery Channel series hit a pregnant pause as the show looked for a replacement for Dave Canterbury. Old pro Cody Lundin has remained with the show but folks have been scratching their heads wondering who the new co-star would be. Well, we think we have it figured out.

We believe that the new co-host for season three of Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival” is Joe Teti who is a Veteran of the US Marines, Army Special Forces and OGA. Joseph Teti is also the director of International Security Consultants.

Season three of “Dual Survival” has wrapped up.

Here is Discovery Channel’s bio of Joseph Teti:

Joseph Teti is a veteran of both US military and US government special operations units. He is a former Force Recon Marine, Army Special Forces “Green Beret”, and a former operator in a highly classified government counter-terrorist unit.

He is a combat veteran of both OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) in Iraq, and OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom) in Afghanistan. He planned and conducted a broad range of special operations missions covering the entire operational continuum. These missions gave the President of the United States an option when overt military and / or diplomatic actions were not viable or politically feasible. Operations of this nature required rapid response with surgical application of a wide variety of unique skills, while maintaining the lowest possible profile of U.S. involvement. He has participated in numerous classified direct action missions with several Tier 1 SMU’s (Special Mission Units).

Joseph has performed high-risk PSD (Personal Security Detail) operations in Afghanistan and Iraq for U.S. government and civilian clients. He was also a member of a U.S. State Department close protection team assigned to several high profile government officials and visiting diplomats in Israel. Working out of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, and the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem, he operated in high-risk areas throughout the country to include Ramallah, Abu Dis, Jericho, The Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He has extensive experience and training in fully armored vehicle operations, advance team operations, motorcade operations, CAT (Counter Assault Team) operations and surveillance / counter surveillance operations.

A graduate of over 30 formal schools in regards to special operations, his skill sets and experiences are highly diverse. He has attended several survival schools over his career and is one of a few individuals in the world that hold an instructor certification in tactical tracking operations from legendary tracker and former Rhodesian SAS (Special Air Service), and Selous Scout, David Scott-Donelan.

He has held a TOP SECRET-SCI with polygraph security clearance, the highest security clearance awarded by the U.S. government.

“Attack of the Zombie Hippies” Supports the Independence Fund

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

20121218-174636.jpg“Attack of the Zombie Hippies” is an ebook unlike anything you’ve seen before. Assembled at the creative direction of Dave Reeder and Erik Dewey it’s an anthology that mixes good old zombie fiction with practical firearms and tactics articles. By the name you’ve probably already figured out that the zombie stories all involve undead hippies as well. I have a feeling that was Reeder’s doing.

“Attack of the Zombie Hippies” is available on Amazon for Kindle (Nook and hard copies to come).

And yes, I know that some of you are going to poo poo the whole thing because you want something to complain about (in this case zombies) but, here’s the beauty part. Proceeds benefit Independence Fund. And, you get to read a forward by yours truly that will make you feel better about zombies.

If that wasn’t enough, some great companies have stepped up as sponsors of this project and have offered coupon codes that are scattered throughout the book. Tactical Tailor, G-Code Holsters, BattleComp, Grey Ghost Gear, I.C.E. Training, Predator BDU, Battle Arms Development, Dark Angel Medical, Combat Swag and Milifidel Apparel are all great folks. Thank you!

China Exploits Newtown Tragedy to Soften Up US

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012

Communist China’s national news organ Xinhua is calling for the US to swiftly enact sweeping firearms laws. Naturally, this will result in a much weaker America making us vulnerable to attack.

I’ve always wanted to post a propaganda piece.

But seriously, the Chinese want us to be just like them…No guns. How’s that free speech thing working out for you again China?

Check out this NY Times Blog post for some great background on how lunatics in other countries use knives, cleavers and hammers to conduct mass attacks.

Art in War, Afghanistan

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012

It was filmed during the first half of Soldier and amateur film maker Sean Allen’s deployment to Wardak Province, Afghanistan. It’s a compilation of time-lapse photography put together to create a fast motion-like film. He made it show to another side of Afghanistan, one we don’t often have time to experience, one of serenity.

Guy Cramer Talks Camo on CNN

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

Filmed in August, CNN broadcast a report by Chris Lawrence entitled “New technology makes troops invisible.”

He interviews Guy Cramer of Canada’s HyperStealth Biotechnology Corp and partner of ADS Inc in their bid to win the US Army’s ongoing Camouflage Improvement Effort. The ADS/Cramer team produced the finalist US4CES pattern. Rumor has it that the Chief of Staff of the Army will be briefed this week on the results of the extensive testing undertaken to find a new family of camouflage patterns for use the the Army.

Cramer goes on to very briefly discuss his Quantum Stealth technology. As I understand it, CNN spent more than an hour with Cramer and yet edited it down to less than three minutes. It’s too bad because we want to hear Cramer speak more about his advanced camouflage concepts.

Recoil Issue 5 Is Out

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

20121202-195801.jpg

When Recoil magazine initially came out, it held a lot of promise. This wasn’t your average gun magazine. It had and continues to offer a different look. In fact, this latest issue, hitting news stands now, has the same look and feel as it’s initial success. Only one thing is missing, Editor Jerry Tsai who stepped down after Issue 4’s Second Amendment controversy.

So what steps has Recoil taken to move on? Aside from some personnel changes, the issue starts out with an article on the Second Amendment. In fact, it spells out in no uncertain terms that Recoil supports the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Additionally, the theme of this issue is Versatility. They cover a bolt gun, 2 pistols and shotgun. They also have some interesting content on the basics of preparing a bug out bag as well as what to look for in a used 1911. However, I feel they fall a little short on some content such as the lightweight rail, pistol light and boot photo spreads but the lack of depth may be as much a function of a wary industry than an oversight on Recoil’s part.

Like previous issues, there’s a pull-out full-size target although this one is a space alien. That’s a little different but follows the overall Recoil theme of being something different.

They haven’t returned to the full stable of advertisers they enjoyed prior to Issue 4’s editorial misstep but they are in better shape than they were in the beginning. They aren’t starting from scratch but you can see that they are taking steps to move forward.

I’m willing to see where this goes. How about you?
