Tele Vue – BetterShot

Thursday, May 2nd, 2019

In the TNVC booth at last week’s NRA Annual Meeting, I ran across the most innovative product of the show.

There are multiple dryfire systems on the market but most are pistol-centric with a few intended for rifles, but none work with a telescopic sight. The BetterShot by Tele Vue is a dryfire system for optical sight equipped rifles.

Above, you can see the BetterShot device mounted to a scope’s objective lens. It includes a cradle for a smart device which uses an app to detect and track movement through a dry fire sequence.

Here you can see the rubber coated fingers which are adjusted to tighten around the scope’s objective lens (40 -60 mm).

This image shows the objective aspect of the BetterShot device with its 35mm lens. This lens is independently adjustable and you can focus on objects as close as six feet.

Tele Vu founder Al Nagler started out an optical designer for NASA. In fact, Tele Vu builds some great telescopes as well as the BetterShot.

EOTECH Vudu – 1-8×24 SFP Scope

Monday, April 29th, 2019

At last week’s National Rifle Association Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Indianapolis, EOTECH introduced the new 1-8×24 Second Focal Plane model to their Vudu line of variable power optics.

It is similar in design to their award winning 1-6×24 model but with additional magnification. The 1-8x model also features a daylight visible, illuminated .5moa center dot (at 8x) reticle as well as removable magnification throw lever.

The 30mm tube is constructed of T6 aluminum and is paired with low profile turrets.

This new update will not be available until late this year.

NRAAM 19 – Freedom RDS by Leupold Optics

Saturday, April 27th, 2019

753EEBFB-01E3-4B21-8E40-5CD38967706F

This is the new Leupold Freedom Red Dot Sight. It is being offered in two different models. The first features capped precision ¼-MOA click adjustments, and the second features a precision exposed BDC elevation turret that ships with adjustments out to 500 yards for a standard 55-grain .223 round. The turrets use Leupold’s Custom Dial System. The dot size is 1 MOA and there are eight intensity settings. On a medium setting you’ll get about 1000 hours of use.

But it’s not just for .223 rifles. If you decide to mount your Freedom RDS to a rifle that’s chambered in other popular AR-style calibers like a 6.5 Creedmoor or .300 Blackout, the Leupold Custom Shop can create you a new dial for a fee.

It also integrates Leupold’s Motion Sensor Technology (MST), which turns the illumination off after five minutes of inactivity, when it detects motion again, it instantly turns the illumination back on.

The standard model is $389 with mount and the BDC model is $599 with mount.

NRAAM 19 – ROMEO3 Max From SIG Optics

Saturday, April 27th, 2019

SIG Optics has launched the ROMEO3 Max Red Dot Optic in honor of Team SIG legend Max Michel. Due to its size, it’s generally associated with carbines an SMG’s, but I first noticed Max using one during his Guinness World Record shoot.

As you can see it features a mounting plate to accommodate the large footprint of the ROMEO3.

Don’t let this photo fool you, there are multiple intensity setting for the 6MOA dot. It was on a low setting.

Here it is on Max’s P320 X5 Carry.

I spoke briefly with Max about his experience with Red Dot Sights and why he preferred this optic in particular. Max related that he had begun using an optic equipped pistol on the early 90s initially with the Tasco optic and then transitioned to the C-More. Over the past couple of years he had adopted the SIG sight. “Most pistol engagements are at 15 yards or less and you don’t want a small dot,” Max explained. He went on to say, “the ROMEO3 offers clean glass, large field of view and a 6 MOA dot. At that distance you’re not going to cover up the target with the dot.”

NRAAM 19 – Trijicon Launches 1-8×28 Variable Combat Optical Gunsite

Friday, April 26th, 2019

There’s lots of info on the web about the new Specialize Reflex Optic, but no one is talking about the latest variant of the VCOG.

At the 2019 NRAAM Trijicon has launched a 1-8×28 version of the VCOG. It features a first focal plane, variable intensity illuminated reticle (powered by AA battery) with a constant 4 inches of eye relief. The reticle incorporates bullet drop compensation and ranging.

There is also an integrated mounting adapter and throw lever for quick magnification changes.

TNVC – Releases PVS-14 Non-Powered Bridge Mount-Dovetail at NRAAM

Friday, April 26th, 2019

Indianapolis, IN – Hot on the heels of the release of the TNVC PVS-14-PBM-A, we’re proud to announce the release of the PVS-14 Non-Powered Bridge Mount-Dovetail, or NPBM-D at the NRA Annual Meeting 2019 at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Booth 7464.

The NPBM-D was a response to requests for a lower cost and lighter weight version of the PBM-A, deleting the centralized power supply, but retaining the stirrup and fastener attachment of the PBM-A that allows the best possible lockup and alignment of dual PVS-14s into a retrofit binocular configuration. Again, while bridging two PVS-14s is not the most ideal configuration for binocular night vision devices (BNVDs), the PBM-A and NPBM-D are responsive to military and law enforcement organizations that already have large numbers of PVS-14s in inventory, as well as civilian enthusiasts that already have PVS-14 units, and do not want to purchase a new device or perform costly conversions to their existing devices, or may want to retain the ability to have two totally independent devices.

The NPBM-D is the lightest dovetail mounting PVS-14 bridge currently on the market, weighing in at 2.93 ounces and is constructed from Delrin polymer and 6061 T6 anodized aluminum, and will retail for $315, making it one of the most affordable PVS-14 bridges on the market.

TNVC will have an extremely limited number of units available for sale on the floor at NRAAM 2019, and will be accepting pre-orders for $305 during NRAAM

TNVC will also have a number of other Show Specials during NRAAM for show attendees available including:

Night Goggles NG/PVS-14 Photonis 4G ECHO for $2,500

10% off FLIR PTQ-136 Breach and PTS-233 Thermosights

TNV/PVS-14-PBM-A for $765 (available on website)

Come stop by our booth, 7464 for all of your night vision, thermal, and accessory needs!

The glass coated polymer lens ads no magnification or distortion to light that can be found in other options on the market. An all-glass lens will be available by the end of Q3 giving users maximum resistance to scratching. The glass lens is in the final stages of testing.

“We are excited to present this new and unique offering to the Red Dot Sight market.
