Competition Season Continuing Strong for Federal Ambassador Dakota Overland and Team Federal

Thursday, August 13th, 2020

ANOKA, Minnesota – August 6, 2020 – Federal brand ambassador and competitive shooter Dakota Overland takes home the Ladies Division title at the recent 2020 Magpul Governor’s Match in Cody, Wyoming. The teenager bested 15 other female competitors in that Division and finished 13th overall at the event.

“It was always a goal of mine to win the Ladies Division, plus perform well overall. I was happy to have done both. The most challenging part of this match was the requirement to use a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC). That type of rifle is not a gun I typically use or practice with. There was a bit of an adjustment and relearning curve with it,” reported Overland. “However, Federal Syntech PCC 130-grain 9mm ammo is specifically designed for the PCC platform. I knew it would eliminate potential problems with running the firearm. It honestly helped my comfort level at this match.”

In addition to shooting the Syntech PCC ammunition, Overland used Gold Medal Grand shotshells, American Eagle Rifle 55-grain 223 Rem., and Gold Medal Rifle 69-grain .223 Rem during the match and her practice sessions.

“This match was quite large. I saw many people observing, who want to try out the sport,” said Overland. “I want all those to know that competitive shooters love getting new people involved. If you’re looking to get into the sport, come and watch a local match! You can meet people and get started on the right path for gear and knowing what to expect.”

Also, during this match, several Team Federal sponsored shooters had top-15 finishes. Sean Burrows placed 8th in the 2×4 Optics Division. Tucker Schmidt placed 8th in the Open Division. Jake Latola placed 11th in the Optics Division.

“We congratulate Dakota and all members on Team Federal for a great match and representing Federal in such a big way,” said Federal Senior Manager of Marketing Brian Anderson. “Their enthusiasm and passion for the brand speaks volumes.”

15-Year-Old Federal Sponsored Trap Shooter Grayson Stuart Achieves ATA Grand Slam Honors

Sunday, July 26th, 2020

ANOKA, Minnesota – July 21, 2020 – Team Federal Congratulates their youngest competitive trap shooter Grayson Stuart who completed Amateur Trapshooting Association’s (ATA) Grand Slam. Stuart completed this amazing accomplishment following his title run at the Western Zone Handicap shoot held at the Spanish Fork Gun Club in Utah on July 19. The 15-year-old from Riverton, UT, is the third youngest in ATA history to log a Grand Slam according to Trap and Field Magazine.

“The ATA Grand Slam is achieved when a shooter completes the final discipline, of the three shooting events: 200 straight in a 200-Target Singles Event, 100 straight in Handicap from the 27-yard mark, 100 straight in Doubles,” said Federal Youth Shooting Sports Program Manager Jon Zinnel. “According to ATA records, less than 500 shooters in the world have completed their Grand Slams.”

“I set new goals each year to keep my focus through the shooting season and so far, this season has been great,” said Stuart. “I could not be any more excited with accomplishing my ATA Grand Slam at the 2020 Western Zone. Now I need to shift my focus back to the range and prepare for the Grand American in a couple of weeks.”

Stuart relied on Federal Top Gun and Gold Medal Paper to achieve his ATA Grand Slam. Even the most challenging targets are no match for consistent, hard-hitting Federal Top Gun. The loads’ high-quality lead shot produces even patterns that crush clays. The look, feel and performance of Gold Medal Paper shotshells make them the favorite of the most serious clay target shooters. The loads combine Federal Premium Ammunition’s classic paper hull and high-quality brass head with an ideal design that provides less felt recoil and effective shot hardness.

“We look to young shooters like Grayson to help energize trap shooting to the younger generations,” concluded Zinnel. “Grayson did an outstanding job representing the Federal brand. It was obvious that he had fun and enjoyed sharing that excitement with others. We congratulate him on this impressive accomplishment.”

Elite Tactical Optics Help Claim Two Titles at Alabama Precision Regional

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – June 26, 2020 – Bushnell wishes to congratulate pro shooters Mark Cooper and Melissa Gilliland for claiming two titles at the recent Alabama Precision Regional PRS Match. Cooper used his trusted Elite Tactical XRS II to win the Tactical Division and place 4th overall in the match, continuing his hot streak in recent PRS competitions. Fellow teammate Gilliland was successful in earning a second consecutive Top Lady title thanks in part to her Elite Tactical DMR II Pro.

For Cooper, his recent win at the Alabama Precision Regional marked his fourth consecutive title in the Tactical Division. Entering the match, Cooper was red hot, earning wins at the Pigg River H.A.M., Red Brush and the K&M Precision Rifle Series matches. Cooper currently sits atop the PRS leaderboard with a commanding lead in the Tactical Division.

“Over the last couple of months, everything has been in sync,” said Cooper. “My gear has been running flawlessly and every shooter knows having that confidence is often the determining factor. I’ve always trusted my XRS II, but after these last few matches my faith in it just keeps growing. Regardless of how rough I treat it or what the conditions are – whether dealing with mirage or just bad weather – it never loses zero and it consistently gives me those clear views so I can keep making impacts.”

Fellow teammate Melissa Gilliland also delivered a strong performance taking home the Top Lady title. Fresh off her win at the MPA Regional PRS Match, Gilliland opted to use the Elite Tactical DMR II Pro to begin this year’s season.

“This year I decided to change things up a little and go with the DMR II Pro vs the scope I normally use – the XRS II,” said Gilliland. “While at first it was different not having the higher magnification range of the XRS II, the increased eye box of the DRM II Pro has helped with identifying and picking up targets faster. Both scopes have outstanding glass so really, it’s just a personal preference. You can’t go wrong either way.”
