LIPSEY’S ADDS GLOCK 42 TO THEIR EXCLUSIVE FLAT DARK EARTH LINEUP

Baton Rouge, LA — Lipsey’s, nationally renowned firearms distributor, has added the much anticipated Flat Dark Earth version of the Glock 42 to their robust line of FDE Glocks.

The new Lipsey’s Exclusive Glock 42 adds another excellent option to the growing family of FDE pistols which now spans 33 models including two-tone and full Flat Dark Earth.

Lipsey’s Product Development Manager, Jason Cloessner, has been working with Glock for several months on adding Lipsey’s signature FDE to one of the most popular .380 ACP’s on the market. “The FDE line of Glocks have firmly entrenched themselves as a mainstream item. The Glock 42 was a natural follow-up to what has become one of our most in-demand exclusive offerings.“

All of Lipsey’s Exclusive Flat Dark Earth Glocks are molded in the FDE color at the Glock factory. This molding method provides greater color durability that prevents chipping, peeling and better wear resistance as opposed to some offerings that feature aftermarket coatings applied to the frames.

Located in Baton Rouge, Lipsey’s was originally formed as a wholesale hunting and fishing distributor in 1953. Today it is one of the nation’s most prominent wholesale firearms distributors. The company, which sells exclusively to federally licensed dealers, has received a number of awards and accolades for its industry leadership. Moreover, Lipsey’s is recognized for its dedicated team, excellent relationships with customers and top firearms manufacturers, and exclusive product offerings.

MUR-1S New Shell Deflector

VLTOR has announced that they’ve updated the MUR-1S. The Modular Upper Receiver was developed as a MilSpec correct upper receiver with a thicker wall, designed to offer customers a stronger upper receiver. The update to the MUR-1S involves a change on the shell deflector. While the original shell deflector consisted of a metal plate with the shell deflector riveted on, the new shell deflector is a single machined piece. In addition to being an overall stronger design, it adds only .07oz to the weight of the entire receiver.

Packaging of new MUR-1S

The updated units are currently shipping out to VLTOR’s backorder queue and will become generally available for new orders directly preceding the backorder queue.

US Army Issues Draft RFP for XM17 Modular Handgun System

Wednesday, June 17th, 2015

We just received this notice from PEO Soldier. The XM17 Modular Handgun System is meant to replace the current M9 pistol across DoD.

XM17 draft request for proposals released

FORT BELVOIR, Va. (Jun. 17, 2015) – The U.S. Army Program Executive Office Soldier announced today that a draft solicitation for a new military handgun was released on the Federal Business Opportunities website. This announcement follows the agency’s notice that the Army intends to host a fourth industry day July 7-8 at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., to discuss the document and receive feedback from industry.

The draft lays out the latest proposed competition schedule, procedures and requirements for the XM17 Modular Handgun System. These were modified as a result of industry feedback and DoD’s decision to allow use of special purpose ammunition. It gives industry a final opportunity to review and provide feedback on the Army’s refined strategy prior to release of the final RFP.
Program Manager for Soldier Weapons, Colonel Scott Armstrong said the Army will procure the XM17 through full and open competition.

“We expect to release the final solicitation in 2016,” he said. “This will be followed a phased down-select process that will run through 2017.”

“When all is said and done,” Armstrong said, “the XM17 will provide Warfighters with greater accuracy, target acquisition, ergonomic design.” “The new handgun will also be more reliable, durable and easier to maintain.”

“Each vendor may provide up to two separate proposals of handguns with different calibers to the Army for evaluation and testing in early 2016,” he said.

“Our strategy will take full advantage of a world-class industrial base. Vendors must submit mature designs that are production ready. They are free to select a caliber that best meets the XM17 requirements.”

The XM17 is expected to be more effective and lethal than the Army’s current pistol. Current plans call for the Army to purchase more than 280,000 handguns from a single vendor, with full rate production scheduled for 2018. The Army also plans to buy approximately 7,000 compact versions of the handgun. The other military services participating in the XM17 program may order an additional 212,000 systems.

The updated Draft RFP page is www.fbo.gov and the latest version of the draft is now available.

Heckler & Koch Has Announced The VP40

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Heckler & Koch has announced the release of a .40 caliber model of its VP striker fired pistol line. This is the first non-9mm variant of the VP to be introduced since the VP9 was released in June 2014. The full release can be read below:

VP40

Heckler & Koch added a .40 caliber model to its new VP striker fired pistol line. The VP40 (Caliber .40 S&W) joins the 9 mm VP9 that was introduced to the U.S. commercial and law enforcement markets in June of 2014.

“Just a year after launching the VP series pistol with the 9 mm VP9, we are thrilled to have a .40 caliber model join the line-up,” said Michael Holley, HK-USA Vice President for Commercial and Law Enforcement Sales. “Last year the VP9 took the market by storm and the VP40 promises to live up to its birthright. For civilian shooters and law enforcement agencies looking for a little more power to go with the VP’s well-recognized superior quality – this is it. Once again it shows Heckler & Koch’s commitment to the U.S. market and American shooters.”

The VP pistol line has been in development for more than four years and its debut marked the return of HK to striker-fired models. Heckler & Koch pioneered striker fired handgun designs with the HK VP70 and P7 pistols more than 35 years ago and was also the first company to produce polymer frame models. The 9 mm VP9 has been one of Heckler & Koch’s most successful products – selling widely – and receiving positive reviews from civilian and law enforcement shooters throughout the U.S.

Wayne Weber, President of HK-USA stated, “Like the 9 mm VP9, the VP40 has been through just about every test and challenge possible. Heckler & Koch’s strict company testing program put the VP40 through just about every trial imaginable; NATO and U.S. NIJ drop tests, water, dust, mud, and sand tests worst that the most extreme environmental conditions in the world.”

VP40 function and abuse tests included firing thousands of rounds of a wide variety of ammunition types through several test pistols. Unlike some manufacturers, Heckler & Koch test fires every VP40 pistol for accuracy and function.

The VP40 has the same excellent, precise trigger that debuted on the VP9. And the VP40 grip can be customized to fit any shooter by using a mix of three interchangeable backstraps and six grip panels.

The charging supports – a feature introduced on the first VP models is present on the VP40 as well. These small, removable wings on the rear of the slide make cocking and manipulating the pistol much easier than other handgun designs. VP pistols also have a safer and easier disassembly process than many competing models.

Covered by Heckler & Koch’s limited lifetime warranty, the VP40 is designed and manufactured in Oberndorf, Germany with HK’s famous long-term durability. The VP40 is value priced with a suggested retail cost of $719. A law enforcement configuration VP40 with tritium night sights and three magazines is also available for $819 SRP. VP40 pistols are shipping now (June 2015).

Alamo Four Star Announces The Cowl Induction Brake

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

P5199683b

June 9th, 2015 – Lubbock Texas – Alamo Four Star is pleased to announce the release of the Cowl Induction Brake (CIB). The CIB CNC cross milled port design reduces recoil by over 50% while minimizing the sound directed back at the shooter.

The CIB was developed as better way to mitigate the recoil of large caliber rifles. Founder Mark Deros realized a need to revisit the industry standard muzzle brake design when he was shooting his .338 Lapua and experiencing substantial recoil with a standard factory brake. This led Mark to find the most effective way to redirect the escaping gas pressure and put that energy to work in order to more effectively reduce recoil and manage muzzle rise. This reduction was made possible by redesigning the internal and external geometry of the traditional brake to increase the efficiency of the flow of gasses.

“I realized after shooting my .338 Lapua for a while I realized that there had to be a better solution than receiving an ‘ass whipping’ with the factory muzzle brake.” said Mark Deros CEO of Alamo Four Star. “With 18,000 lbs of pressure being released from that muzzle, that’s a lot of energy available to be exploited. The CIB uses that energy to the shooters advantage creating a more enjoyable shooting experience and faster follow up shots.”

The CIB is available in 223/5.56, 6mm, 6.5mm, .30cal, and .338 Lapua in both black and stainless steel. MSRP on the CIB is $169

Kinetic Development Group – Meet The Kinetic System And MREX-AR Rail

Monday, June 8th, 2015

image001

When Kinetic Development Group launched as a company, it appeared they were a “SCAR” accessory company. Kinetic Development Group is a Firearms & Accessory solutions company. There is no limit to what they can and will do.

There has been some question why KDG has been so dedicated to the MLOK™ system manufacturing the MREX™ for the SCAR instead of Key-Mod. Today they are announcing both MREX-AR™ rail solution in MLOK™, and the revolutionary Kinect™ system for MLOK™. In a world of a thousand rails, that news may not be exciting, but revealing why they fervently supported MLOK™ from the beginning is very exciting; Kinect™ for MLOK™.

KDG

Kinect™ is a family of products that allow you to securely attach your accessories or picatinny rail sections to any MLOK™ system without tools. Press the accessory or rail section to the MLOK™ slot where you want it and “Click”, it is securely fastened. This patent pending technology is the card KDG has kept tucked up their sleeve while they built MLOK™ rails for the SCAR and now the AR. It literally takes less that a second to install or remove an accessory, yet the mount is so strong a grown man can do pull-ups on a single attachment point. For reference the 3 Slot picatinny Kinect™ Section can handle approx. 180 lbs. of force. See video.

I saw this setup at SHOT Show and it impressed me even more than the Sidelok Optic Mount.  It makes using MLOK even simpler.

KDG

Although revolutionary, Kinect™ is quite simple in its operation. There are two spring-loaded wedges in the base of the Kinect™ mounting point. When you press the accessory or rail section down in the MLOK™ slot, two tiny deployment triggers get pressed against the rail firing the wedges into place.

There is nothing more frustrating that fiddling with an allen wrench (if you can find it) to get your accessories on an off your weapon with traditional modular rail sections. This changes the whole dynamic of the MLOK™ system and really makes every accessory truly removable with the ability to mount it in a second when needed.

There is not a whole lot that needs to be explained or left to the imagination about the Kinect™ system. It will be plain to you once you see it or try it to know this is not a gadget, or gimmick but a huge step forward in how we utilize our modular firearms. Much like the Sidelok™ for Picatinny attachment KDG launched on Soldier Systems, Kinect™ insures proper and easy installation, eliminating common variables that would cause issues. (ie: over tightening)

KDG wanted to launch the MREX-AR™ rail and Kinect™ to the public at the same time to demonstrate they are true finding solutions to making open architecture firearms like the AR much better. At first glance it may look similar to everything out there, but like the MREX™, there was purpose in its design. Being both the developer of the rail system, and the Kinect™ accessory line gives KDG a huge advantage.

It lets them develop accessory mounts that can for instance bring a Surefire light so tight into the rail space, its like it is integral. (Pictured Above)

MREX-AR PHOTO #3

KDG also put MLOK™ slots on a 45-degree angle at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions on the rail. Now imagine an Aimpoint Micro or an RMR mounted tightly into the back of the rail offset at 45 degrees so you can transition to CQB using the dot and maintain your magnified optic. (Pictured Above)

KDG

The MREX-AR™ is ergonomically set up to be more like a hand-guard (like the FAL or G3) instead of a tube. The profile allows the user a very comfortable C-Grip on the weapon, and allows those accessories to be mounted as though they are integral to the weapon. The flat bottom of the rail system is ideal for shooting off of support.

By launching the MREX-AR™ rail and Kinect™ at the same time, KDG has demonstrated they are truly finding solutions to making open architecture firearms like the AR much better.

The first Kinect™ Pieces to become available will be launching this summer along side the MREX-AR™ rail. KDG intends to make available a wide arrange of Kinect™ pieces including 3 slot picatinny section, Harris bipod adapter, 7 slot picatinny section, offset surefire mounts, Aimpoint micro mounts, and many more to come.
