Winchester W Train & Defend Provides A Straight Forward Solution In Ammunition Selection For New Shooters

Sunday, December 22nd, 2013

EAST ALTON, Ill. (Dec. 12, 2013) — With the growing number of ammunition choices at the retail counter confronting the influx of first-time gun owners, Winchester Ammunition has created the new W Train & Defend brand which provides a straightforward process when choosing training and personal defense rounds.

The W Train & Defend ammunition system is designed to provide threat-stopping power with less recoil to the shooter. The system pairs its range-ready Train rounds with technology-driven Defend rounds, both designed to limit the recoil felt by the shooter. This system provides a perfect solution for new shooters, especially women, who are interested in training to become proficient with their personal defense ammunition.

“The influx of new female shooters to the outdoor/shooting sports category is significant and we are committed to making their experiences positive when it comes to selecting the appropriate gear, which includes ammunition,” said Brett Flaugher, vice president of sales, marketing and strategy. “After an extensive amount of research, we believe this line of quality products will serve a community of new shooters and others who are excited to learn more about target shooting and personal defense, as well as responsible gun ownership.”

The Train rounds of the W Train & Defend system are identified with a prominent “T” on the package. Winchester developed these training loads not only with reduced recoil characteristics, but lead-free primers for improved indoor range acceptance. Packed in 50-count boxes, the Train offerings themselves are also distinguishable from their Defend counterparts with brass shell cases and full metal jacket bullets.

The system’s ballistically-matched Defend rounds are also easily identifiable on the shelf, featuring a prominent “D” in a 20-count package. The high performance rounds were developed for threat stopping power. Utilizing Winchester’s advanced bonding technology, the Defend ammunition features jacketed hollow point bullets and nickel-plated shellcases, making them easily distinguishable from the training ammunition.

The packaging for W Train & Defend ammunition includes relevant data such as bullet type and weight, the caliber and whether the rounds are for training or defense purpose, providing straightforward information in an easy-to-read format.

The W Train and Defend system includes the following offerings:

Product Information
The Osprey system is a gas piston upgrade for your AR-15. Switching to a gas piston operating system from a direct gas impingement one leads to a cleaner and cooler operating rifle. This should lead to fewer malfunctions and considerably more time between cleanings. Magpul Enters Dedicated 2-Point Sling Market With MS1

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

The new MS1 Sling from Magpul is a dedicated 2-Point model that can also be used as a Single Point Sling through the use of adapters.

20131217-181744.jpg

It’s built around their MS1 slider to provide rapid adjustments to either lengthen or shorten the sling with no slipping once set, and no tails, loops, or other potential snag hazards. The MS1 system also has a series of adapters that are sold separately and based on the MS3 and MS4 slings. By adding the appropriate adapter (available in Paraclip or QD) for the sling, you can easily add one-point functionality to your MS1.

They’ve been perfecting the design for some time now and had this to say about development –

In testing, the sling had to survive tens of thousands of cycles in wet, dry and sandy conditions, static load testing without slippage for 72 hours and weighted 6 foot dynamic drop tests. In addition to the controlled lab tests, we also swam it, jumped it, hunted with it, hiked into the mountains with it, and most importantly shot with it in a variety of rugged field conditions

AVA Tactical Benelli M4 Light Mount

Friday, December 13th, 2013

ZLkuX7t

Disappointed with the current offering of flashlight mounts for the Benelli M4 shotgun, AVA Tactical made their own low-profile, ambidextrous mount. The Benelli M4 mount is made from 7075-T6 aluminum, Type III hard coat anodized with high quality Torx fasteners. It accommodates both 1″ and .8″ lights, tested with SureFire’s E Series, Scout, and 6 Series lights. It features a rotation limited quick disconnect Sling Boss. A low-profile rail with snag free design provides an option to mount an aiming laser on axis with the barrel. Also, AVA’s M4 mount doesn’t interfere with assembly and disassembly of the M4, allowing the shotgun retain its ability to be field striped without tools. Made in the USA.
