The H&K MP5 Isn’t Dead, It’s Just Tan
Friday, October 25th, 2013AUSA – Colt
Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013Colt debuted their new SWORD system at AUSA. The Sniper Weapon & Observer Reconnaissance Devices Technology Demonstrator is based on Colt Canada’s Small Arms Network Power Data System. It combines a laser designator equipped observer with snipers utilizing Android networked rifles.
SWORD not only allows the observer to designate targets for multiple shooters but the snipers can also share data across the network including live optic feeds.
The nodes in the network are IP based so data can be shared with anyone given permissions. The system can accept additional data inputs such as UAV feeds.
The various rifle mounted components include a networked optic and Android device which sit atop Colt’s powered rail which incorporates a battery in the buttstock. Alternatively, it can use a Panacis SharePack.
How To Use The Sling Ding
Saturday, October 19th, 2013Since so many people have been asking about the mechanics of Pat McNamara’s Sling Ding, TYR Tactical put this video together.
According to TYR Tactical, “The Sling Ding affords more positions for the operator’s hand than a vertical fore grip, assists in elevating the weapon’s muzzle off the shooting platform, and facilitates a smaller profile when shooting around corners or barricades.” I’d say that Pat does a good job of demonstrating his device in the video.
The Sling Ding is still available for order. From now until Monday, October 21st, Tyr Tactical is offering the Sling Ding for purchase on their website. This will be the only opportunity to get a hold of a Sling Ding until their official release on January 1st, 2014.
Tyr Tactical – Sling Ding
Thursday, October 17th, 2013Developed by 22-year US Army Special Operations veteran Pat McNamara, Tyr Tactical’s Sling Ding is a more versatile alternative to a standard vertical fore grip. The Sling Ding affords more positions for the operator’s hand than a vertical fore grip, assists in elevating the weapon’s muzzle off the shooting platform, and facilitates a smaller profile when shooting around corners or barricades.
The Sling Ding is constructed from heavy duty schedule 80 PVC and attaches to any rail system that accepts a push button quick release sling swivel. It attaches between the weapon and any 1.25″ or narrower sling. The Sling Ding can be painted or textured by the end user to match any desired camo pattern.
This Thursday, October 17th, through Monday, October 21st, Tyr Tactical is offering the Sling Ding for purchase on their website. This will be the only opportunity to get a hold of a Sling Ding until their official release on January 1st, 2014.
Additionally, Tyr Tactical will be present at the 2013 ATOA Conference, booth #21, October 17th-18th. Pat McNamara will be a guest speaker at the event.

Blue Force Gear Receives Patent On Their RED Swivel
Wednesday, October 16th, 2013This is great news for Blue Force Gear. Congrats, guys!
WASHINGTON, D.C.— October 16, 2013 — The United States Patent and Trademark Office issues Patent No. 8,516,732 to Blue Force Gear for their RED swivel. The Rapid Emergency Detachment (RED) swivel offers a replacement option for standard push button sling swivels through the unique knob shaped pull tab design.
When seconds count, a pull-knob emergency release is more reliable to discharge than a tiny, hard to find push button. For the times when you need your weapon and other combat equipment off seconds ago, you’ll be glad to have this on your gear.
“We realized that under stress the ‘Quick Detach’ push button simply wasn’t,” said Ashley Burnsed, Blue Force Gear’s CEO. “Sometimes you need to get out of your gear rapidly and we found that a traditional push button style QD didn’t allow an emergency release every time. The RED swivel does.”
The patented RED swivel releases with a 7lb pull straight out from the socket. The chance for accidental release is minimized by the knob shape and the fact that a pull more than 10-15 degrees off axis will not release the connection. If you work with a rifle over or near water, or in other conditions where sling entrapment is a substantial risk, the RED swivel can be a lifesaver.
The RED swivel can also be paired with the Burnsed Socket or push button Universal Wire Loop – both from Blue Force Gear – to make the fastest 2 to 1 point sling on the market.

HTC/Rogue Gunfighter Low Vis Demo Day – FIREClean
Sunday, October 13th, 2013At the recent HTC/Rogue Gunfighter Low Vis Demo Day we took a look at FIREClean, an odorless, biodegradable gun oil that destroys carbon contamination and helps prevent future fouling. It cleans and lubricates, and firearms treated with FIREClean “blows out” fouling instead of trapping it. FIREClean is also extremely heat resistance, especially when compared to conventional or synthetic oils. Made in the USA.
