Magpul’s Magazine for the LWRC Six8 UICW Carbine

Sunday, December 9th, 2012

At last week’s USASOC Sniper Competition I got a chance to shoot a few photos of the Magpul M3 magazine developed specifically for the new LWRC International Ultra Compact Individual Weapon. The idea was to give you a better look at how to identify this magazine even though it remains quite rare.

Overall, it has the same layout and components of the new commercial M3 PMAG. Yet, the actual dimensions are quite specific to accommodate the UICW’s magwell.

One striking feature is the Red color of the follower and floor plate lock.

You can also identify the magazine by the data plate.

Finally, the curve is slightly different since the 6.8 round is different than the 5.56 round.

As the UCIW’s magwell features slightly different dimensions than a standard lower, you aren’t going to be able to use this mag with your current 6.8 carbine.

Cadex Extended Rail Mount

Friday, December 7th, 2012

Cadex showed us a 3D printed prototype of this cool Extended Rail Mount in the ADS Inc booth at AUSA. At the USASOC Sniper Comp this week at Ft Bragg, they had a machined aluminum version. It attaches to a Knights Armament Rail to give you some additional rail real estate out in front of the sight.

These are available for unit and agency purchase through ADS Inc.

Sneak Peek – King’s Arsenal .50

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

King’s Arsenal designed the rifle around the Hornady A-MAX .50BMG ammunition and this prototype is around a half to 3/4 MOA gun.

They’ve certainly combined all of the right ingredients. Built on a Cadex Defence Strike 50 chassis which accommodates the McMillan Tac 50 action (both old and new style). King’s Arsenal also used a 28″ Lija barrel and a McMillan brake. Additionally, they’ve applied a Cerakote finish to the rifle in Tan (minus bolt) to match the Cadex chassis.

They’ve topped this one off with a Nightforce Optics 5.5x22x50 NXS with NP-R2 illuminated reticle optic.

It’s not on their website yet so email Jordan@kingsarsenal for full details.

Unity Tactical Fusion Modular Mount Available for Pre-Order

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

The much anticipated Fusion Modular Mount from Unity Tactical is finally available for pre-order. Fusion is really a system consisting of a base which UT refers to as a Hub as well as adapters for accessories such as lights, lasers, optics, and other ancillary equipment. The strength of Fusion is that, as new items are introduced and TTPs change, there’s no need to purchase an entirely new mount. All you’ll need to do is reconfigure your setup with adapters. It’s kind of like a mount version of a Legos construction set.

The Picatinny standard hub is constructed from precision milled 6061-T6 aluminum that is Type 3 anodized in Black or FDE and features four mounting surfaces; a top surface, forward surface, and two wing surfaces. Additionally, the wing accessories are reversible. Incidentally, these wing accessory adapters are also compatible with UT’s Ops-Core ARC rail adapter as well as the Tubular Rail Adapter.

Here are a few configurations to give you an idea of how the Fusion’s components can be set up.

Pre-order now and get 20% off as well as free shipping and a free t-shirt.
