c2r Adopts A-TACS

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

A-TACS has snagged their first British licensee and it’s c2r. You may recall we told you about their TacPad technology back in February. c2r has been around for a couple of years and they specialize in innovation. Once the mastered the technology to illuminate maps, charts and aides memoire, they turned their attention to armor carriers.

They developed the c2RMOR by adapting their plate carrier design to incorporate a load distribution system that transfers weight from the shoulders to the hips without compromising the ability of Soldiers to move naturally. The design is configurable via PALS for a variety of applications with additional lightweight cummerbunds available as well. It also features a built-in pouch for three magazines. To eject the inner plates, simply pull the two quick-release tabs on the front plate carrier. In addition to plates it also accepts level III soft armor backers. Finally, their design creates an air gap that allows cool air to circulate.

Development of the c2RMOR LITE followed the original C2RMOR platform as a cleaner, less cluttered design for use in low visibility applications. They kept the design flexibility concept, but left off the PALS webbing found on the the C2RMOR. Instead, the LITE offers a detachable magazine pouch on the front of the vest. Side pockets are integrated into the A-TACS printed elastic to allow for additional magazine storage. The back panel can be easily mated to their hydration pocket which is built around a source 2LPS water carrier.

In addition to a more widespread release c2r has decided to make their kit available in A-TACS.

A-TACS Deal from The Sportsmans Guide

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

Apparently, The Sportsman’s Guide bought out the A-TACS run of the EOTAC Direct Action Recce Smock and Pants as well as A-TACS versions of the Operator Pant and Shirt. Before Remington pulled the plug on the EOTAC brand they placed orders with their factories for a run of their smock and pants in the A-TACS pattern. Still no word on of the combat shorts were ever actually manufactured. The garments are a ripstop cotton blend and feature pattern matched elbow and knee reinforcements.

Gets yours before they are gone. Due to the closeout nature of the offering they are priced to sell and won’t be available for long. Sizes vary due to stock.

The design features pocketed shoulders that allow for the addition of extra padding, Velcro on the rear of the collar for nametape, zippered pockets on the sleeves, thumb holes and loop fasteners on the cuffs, pouches on the outside of the elbows for padding, and gusseted underarms. SORD USA Variable Armor Carrier

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

We received this photo today and wanted to pass it along. It does a great job of showing you the SORD Variable Armor Carrier as well as what it looks like in the A-TACS pattern.

SORD’s VAC is a pretty interesting design. Not only can it be used as a plate carrier, but the side wings, which can hold soft armor inserts as well as small hard plates, can be added or subtracted as needed. When you add the wings with armor and plates, you have a full armor carrier. That’s some serious scalability.

Kitting Out “Transformers 3 – Dark of the Moon”

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

Ever wonder how all of that cool kit you see in the movies gets there? One of the ways is through the efforts of our friends at Tactical Pro Shop. One of our favorite things about Tactical Pro Shop is that they insist on authenticity and won’t settle for knock-off products. What’s more, their work with Director Michael Bay demands the highest caliber of authenticity. His movies might be fiction, but the equipment has to look right. I spoke with Tactical Pro Shop’s honcho, Matthew Kime about their involvement with these films, “Michael Bay hires professionals that, like himself, demand cutting-edge technology and gear.”

He went on to specifically discuss their involvement in “Transformers 3 – Dark of the Moon”, “We started this project in Feb. 2010, so we had to be very proactive regarding where things are heading, plus integrate conceivable pieces of tech that this ‘elite’ unit would have had developed for their mission.”

Above you can see the use of Fastmags from ITW Military Products. This is the kind of thing we are talking about. “Our strong relationship with our brands really helps us accomplish what would be extremely difficult to accomplish otherwise, our film customers really understand and appreciate our ability to get things done,” said Kime when we asked him about the integration of the latest technologies into film.

Here’s another example of this concept. This screenshot from a “Transformers 3” trailer depicts actor Josh Duhamel’s character Major William Lennox in a Chem-Bio suit in the A-TACS camo pattern. Here, Matt Kime describes the choice, “ATACS was an obvious choice when the request came for something that would work well in an urban environment, and the fact that it had not been seen before on film was a big plus.”

Tactical Pro Shop not only works with Hollywood to provide the best and brightest tactical equipment but also offers their services to you. Be sure to check them out.

Propper’s TAC.U Combat Shirt in A-TACS is now available for preorder from Predator BDU. We wrote about it at SHOT show and we can say that it is truly unlike any other combat shirt on the market. It’s made from a combination of NYCO Poly Cotton sleeves and a Poly Cotton mix torso and is printed in the A-TACS pattern which seems to be gaining a lot of momentum. The shoulders are padded and the sleeves feature inset pockets with zippered closures.
