Black Diamond – Creek Series Packs

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017

Offered in three sizes (50l, 35l, 20l), the Creek series of packs from Black Diamond are designed for use while cragging. They are made from Black burly haul bag material. In addition to a top opening with a strap to secure ropes or clothing, there is also a panel zipper to access your gear (only on 50 and 35 models). You’ll also find a stowable rain cover. Internally, there is an organizer. The harness features padded shoulder straps and dual-density hip belt with a thermoformed backpanel.

A really cool feature is the bottom of the pack. It incorprates a stiffened loop which allows it to stand upright on the ground.

Black Diamond Purchases Swedish Protective Gear Manufacturer

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

According to a recent press release, SLC-based climbing gear maker Black Diamond bought Stockholm-based POC Sweden AB for $44.9 million. Their products is sold in 27 countries worldwide and includes helmets, body armor, goggles, eyewear, gloves and apparel

Last year Black Diamond bought Gregory Mountain Products which, a pack manufacturer which, in the late 90s manufactured SOCOM’s UM-21 pack, popularly known as the Strapmaster 2000 due to its ridiculously long black nylon straps. It’s not a dig on Gregory, they built what the government asked for. Gregory builds a fine pack.
