New Weapon Handbooks on the Way from BHI

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Blackheart International has produced some excellent hip pocket sized handbooks for the HK416 and M16/M4 as well as the Glock. They are now preparing to release two new books on the AR15 and AK47. As with previous versions these new handbooks will feature a coil binding so that they can easily be flipped open to the proper page and will contain tailored information required to operate, maintain, and conduct basic training with the firearm. A Demonstration of QinetiQ Ears SWATS

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Last week we mentioned that Blackheart International is now offering QinetiQ North America’s Ears Shoulder Worn Acoustic Targeting Systems (SWATS) gunfire detection system. We found this video that gives you a good idea of the system and what it does. It is becoming increasingly popular and the Army and Marine Corps have just awarded QinetiQ an IDIQ contract for the systems.

BHI Offering Ears SWATS Gunshot Localization Systems

Friday, February 18th, 2011

You may recall that in December of ’09 we wrote an article on the Boomerang Warrior, an individual gunfire detection system. Well, the QinetiQ North America Ears® family of gunshot localization systems is the “other” technology from the Army’s program and ultimately, the one the Army fielded. Now, Blackheart International has secured the rights to offer it for sale to military and law enforcement customers.

An acoustic range and bearing system, QinetiQ’s Ears detects and pinpoints hostile gunfire in a fraction of a second and audibly reports the range and bearing of the shooter’s position (e.g., “Shot, 400 meters, 3 o’clock”). As the situation unfolds, Ears keeps track of the shooter’s position relative to the changing location of the user and provides on-demand visual and audible updates. In addition, the Ears device simultaneously records latitude and longitude of the shooter’s position to facilitate coordination with other military resources that might be needed to deal with the threat. The Ears SWATSâ„¢ (Shoulder-Worn Acoustic Targeting System) version is mounted on the user’s non-firing shoulder and provides audio cueing as well as a visual display. The technology is also available in Ears-VM (vehicle-mounted), Ears-FS (fixed site), Ears-MC (mobile checkpoint) and Ears-UG (unattended ground) configurations.

BHI Expands Even as SHOT Show Looms

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Effective March 1, 2011 Blackheart International will acquire Mid-Atlantic Training Resources’ portfolio and assets which has long been an associate to BHI. With this acquisition, the new Blackheart International Training operation will continue to provide its proven real-world tactical training courses to DoD agencies, independent contractors and law-enforcement personnel. These courses are conducted at Blackheart International Training facilities, which include a former multi-story hospital ideal for CQB and hostage extraction training, classroom, and a diverse live-fire range developed for CQB, sniper, heavy and crew-served weapons training.

In addition to expanding their training capabilities, BHI has also expanded their custom firearms production by introducing the BHI F-Class rifle. It is designed specifically for NRA F-Class TR (Target Rifle) competition which is a fairly liberal shooting class that allows the competitor the use of a scope and front bipod or rest while shooting in the prone position at targets half the size of those used by iron sight shooters.

At the heart of the BHI F-Class rifle is the BHI barreled action. It’s built on a Kreiger cut-rifled stainless steel barrel that’s been cryogenically treated then mated to a BHI stainless steel custom bolt action. The bolt and barreled action is then treated with a matte black Ionbond coating for maximum durability and smooth operation.

The barreled action is precision-fitted to a robust carbon-fiber and fiberglass composite stock via aluminum pillar bedding for maximum rigidity. In addition to strategically placed texturing on the forend and grip, the stock features an adjustable cheek piece height and length-of-pull spacer system. Also included is a Jewell trigger set at 1-lb. pull and a hinged floor plate.

The BHI F-Class rifle is available in .308 Blackheart. Custom chambering is also available. Visit www.BHIarms.com for more info.

BHI will be in booth #20214.

BHI Handguards Now Available

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Previously only available on their BHI-15 rifles, the Handguards are now offered in Carbine, Mid, and Rifle lengths. Blackheart brings up a pretty valid point. The average Picatinny rail has up to 40″ of rail space. Do you really need that much? BHI is betting that you don’t and has developed a handguard that allows you to incorporate small section of 1913 rail where you need it.

Their lightweight handguard is manufactured from MIL-SPEC Hard Anodized Aluminum and features mounting slots at the 45°, 90°, 135° and 180° positions as well as four sling swivel attachment points. Additionally, the handguard is knurled in order to maintain your grip.
