CTOMS Granted US Patent for M-Harness

Sunday, September 9th, 2012

CTOMS just announced that they have been granted a US patent for their M-Harnes. The M-Harness is a class 2 harness built to ASTM Standards. The uniqueness of the system is that it allows the ‘riggers’ style belt to be worn in a pair of pants, or a padded MOLLE belt, to maintain the convenience of a quick release (Cobra) buckle, yet convert quickly into a sit harness without having the leg loops hard sewn to the belt and without compromising the integrity of the main belt in harness mode by capturing the quick release buckle. Even with the main buckle completely undone, in harness mode, it is still completely safe.

Multiple accessories are available for the M-Harness including armor inserts for the padding system as well as the Turtle’s Harness, which is a chest harness that incorporates into a MOLLE based armor/plate carrier without interfering with the attached pouches, and creates a second main tie in point, for vertical operations where packs or working dogs are worn on the back raising the center of gravity. CTOMS is also working on a number of other accessories and products to support their new Tactical Assault Climbing Programs and TRACE Micro Rope Systems.

The M-Harness is currently manufactured under license by CMC Rescue and sold worldwide by CTOMS and under license in the US by North American Rescue and The Peak Inc as well as other international distributors.

CTOMS Exclusive Canadian Distributor of North American Rescue and North Coast Outfitters

Monday, February 20th, 2012

CTOMS informed us that they have recently established exclusive Canadian distribution agreements with both North American Rescue and North Coast Outfitters. These product lines together complement one other. North Coast Outfitters in particular, allows CTOMS to extend its offering up to comprehensive modular field medical treatment facilities. These just so happen to utilize NAR’s Talon II Litter platform. CTOMS is also working closely with North American Rescue to make some of their products available that have not previously been Health Canada Licensed and thus not legally available in Canada. These product lines strengthen and enhance CTOMS’s current product line, which already includes other lines like TacMed Solutions, Z-Medica and, of course, the CTOMS house brand products.

CTOMS Debuts TRACE at OR

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

CTOMS is debuting their new TRACE Systems (Tactical Rope Access and Confined-space Extraction Systems) at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. These are a series of kits based on a 6mm rope system that offer a comprehensive capability. The kits have color designations for identification. The GREY Kit is the personal rope assault/escape kit, the BLUE Kit is an ascent supplement to the GREY Kit that allows an individual to ascend the rope.

Pictured above is the RED Kit, which is the tactical team kit. It includes a 25m rope (available stock in 16m, 25m and 60m and custom lengths), PocketHoistâ„¢ Litter (yes the small sack beside the rope is a hoistable litter), EdgeProâ„¢, 4 x Quickie Ascendersâ„¢, a Quickie Descenderâ„¢, 2 x 8mm coated Dyneema slings, 1.5mm Pilot Line, Rope Log, 2 x Phantom Screw Gate Caribiners, 1 x Phantom Wire Gate and a Screw Gate Revolver.

The kit is a micro system that turns about 40 lbs of ‘traditional’ rope equipment into about 8.5 lbs with significantly less bulk. All the while maintaining similar capabilities. With the system you can still raise and lower casualties, rappel and ascend a rope, set a fixed line, short rope over complex terrain, glacier travel, and even lead climb. However, the TTPs are very different though.

CTOMS MOLLE Drop Extension Panel

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

The MOLLE Drop Extension Panel works with the CTOMS X-Belt/M-Harness System. It’s four PALS columns wide and velcroes into place inside the belt’s pad. While there is plenty of Velcro there to keep it fast, spanning gear across from the belt to the panel locks it completely into place.

As you can see, it’s designed to keep your belt up where it needs to be around your waist, but allows you to put your gear down lower, where you want it. This isn’t a full drop leg panel but rather an extension directly from your belt. To put it in perspective, the Drop Extension Panel lowers the top of a 30 round magazine to the level of the top of the belt.

It’s a cool idea and what makes it even better is that CTOMS is in production of a Duty Belt version, compatible with 2″ standard duty style belts in both 2 and 4 column wide versions.
