Daniel Defense Introduces MFR 9.0

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Daniel Defense has introduced the Modular Float Rail 9.0 which is a shorter variant of the popular MFR 12.0, a key component of the DDM4 V7.

“It isn’t hard to understand why the DDM4 V7 was one of 2011’s most popular rifles”, says Jordan Hunter, Marketing Manager for Daniel Defense. The shorter, 9”version of the MFRTM accentuates the feature characteristics that made the 12” version a success: lighter weight, modularity, continuous uninterrupted top rail, and three adjustable 3” picatinny rail sections at the three, six, and nine o’clock positions. “Those same great features are now being offered in a shorter version that allows for greater flexibility in barrel length choices,” Jordan went on to say.

Regardless of the length, 12” or 9”, the MFRTM has an outside diameter of 1.76 inches and an inner diameter of 1.61 inches. The total weight of the MFRTM 9.0 is 13.39 ounces, which lends itself well to Daniel Defense’s tagline of Lighter. Stronger. Better.

Ambush Firearms Launches Website

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Although the brand officially launched early this year at SHOT Show, Daniel Defense’s hunting line, Ambush Firearms now has a web presence. AR platforms are quickly becoming a viable option for hunting as manufacturers accessorize the basic platform for the task. Daniel Defense decided to get out in front of this growing phenomenon with the Ambush Firearms brand and produce rifles specially outfitted for hunting. The Ambush 6.8 is available in full rifle configurations as well as upper receiver groups. The monolithic rail upper features a full length Picatinny rail fore end with an indexable foregrip that will feel natural to hunters, reminding them of a shotgun fore end. However, while not commonly offered in a hunting gun, many hunters will find the adjustable buttstock a welcome addition to their rifle. Additionally, the Ambush 6.8 incorporates a Geissele Super Semi-Auto two-stage trigger. Finally, Ambush products can be had in Black as well as the popular hunting patterns, Realtree AP and Mossy Oak Break Up Infinity.

Daniel Defense to Open New Facility in South Carolina

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

In a $5.3 million investment, Georgia-based Daniel Defense is opening a new facility in neighboring South Carolina’s Jasper County. The move is expected to generate 100 new jobs with hiring to begin in August.

In a press release Daniel Defense President and CEO Marty Daniel said, “With 90,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space, we are poised to continue to grow our brand in the U.S. firearms industry, international firearms Industry, DoD manufacturing and strategic business relationships. Our goal is to build the best firearms in the world and we view this investment as a key milestone toward achieving that goal. The company expects to have the facility in operation by December 1, 2011.”

In a statement, SC Governor Nikki Haley added, “One hundred new jobs in Jasper demonstrates our administration’s commitment to rural areas, and Daniel Defense is an example of a good quality partner for South Carolina that we are excited to welcome and support for many years to come.”

Such a move could signal a high degree of confidence by Daniel Defense that they are going home with a sizable chink of the Army’s small arms pie. As we reported last week, the Army’s dual path strategy to improve the current fleet of M4 carbines combined with an open solicitation for a new Improved Carbine means there is a lot of work to go around for small arms producers.
