GEMTECH 2015 Catalog
Friday, January 16th, 2015GEMTECH Announces The Release Of The ONE Suppressor
Thursday, January 15th, 2015Boise, ID—14 JAN 14
“It swelled with amazing speed to a profound clamor that involved the earth in noises. The splitting crashes swept along the lines until an interminable roar was developed. To those in the midst of it became a din fitted to the universe.”
Stephen Crane
Clamor sucks. Kill it with a can.
The ONE suppressor from GEMTECH is the suppressor world’s new go-to can for any application. Use it on everything from your .300BLK carbine to 5.56 SBR and on up to 300WM; it’s the only silencer you’re going to need for your centerfire rifle. Yeah. From 5.56 to 300WM. How’s that for functionality?
The ONE is an “Extreme Duty” silencer, full auto rated on 5.56mm as short as 7.5” barrels. Length is a tight 7.5” with a diameter of 1.625 including shroud (so, not much girth). Weighing in at just a smidge over a pound, built of Titanium and Inconel with an interchangeable QD mount or thread mount option and high temp black Cerakote finish, this suppressor is rated for 300 Win Mag on 24” or longer barrels. Its slim profile is about the same diameter or smaller than everything else in its class, which should make everyone happy.
If GEMTECH doesn’t have a can that suits your needs, you’re probably reliving the Civil War or trying to knock out an IFV. The Latka-Dater tradition continues.

Range Day With Grey Ghost Precision
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014I spent Veterans Day this year at Range 37 near Ft Bragg with Grey Ghost Precision checking out their new Specter series of rifles. Manufactured exclusively for GGP by Mega Arms, the Specter is offered in Heavy (7.62 NATO) and Light (5.56mm) models. Both were a joy to shoot. My main concern was reliability and overall shooting experience. The day was not the best opportunity for me to look at accuracy and hopefully, this will be happening soon.
For years shooters have been asking Mega Arms to build complete rifles based on their popular MATEN 7.62 Upper and Lower sets. Mega heard what they are asking for but decided to team up with Grey Ghost. These are the only guns built completely by Mega Arms and this new relationship is a natural fit considering the two firms’ close proximity to one another and privately held status.
Truth be told, I spent most of my time with the Heavy since it was something new. The initial rifle I shot performed flawlessly with the first magazine but then I started to notice failure to fire on the second round out of the magazine. After it happened three times, Jason Curns, Firearms Manager at Mega Arms took a look at it and replaced the firing pin. After that, it ran like a sewing machine the rest of the day. This was the only malfunction I noted over the several hours our group spent at the range.
Gemtech also brought in two suppressors that they will be offering with GGP as well as their Blast Jackets which help dampen the side blast of comps.
Here, you can see the Gemtech suppressor mounted to a Specter Heavy.
I also fired the Light carbine on a pop up range. After a morning with the Heavy it was a lot of fun to shoot and was equipped with the new Mega Slide Lock charging handle.
Although, I’ve talked about the specs for the rifles before, I’ll go over them again.
The proprietary receivers are built from 7075-T651 billet aluminum and are True Black Type III hardcoat anodized to military specifications, with a surface hardness of 60 Rockwell. The forends are 14″ extended Mega MKM KeyMod handguards, which are hand fitted to the upper receiver using Mega Arms’ custom lockup system; M-LOK forends will be available in the future. The barrels are medium weight 16″ 416 stainless steel with 11 degree target crowns. They are fitted with Gemtech Jake Brakes and are treated with black nitride inside and out for superior corrosion resistance. One thing to note is that the Heavy’s upper does not incorporate a Forward Assist. This is a holdover from the MATEN. According to Mega, most .308 BCGs don’t have serrations so the BCG wouldn’t do much good.
The lower receivers feature ambidextrous bolt releases and BAD-CASS selectors. The triggers are single stage, with a 4.5 lbs pull. They also come equipped with properly staked mil-spec six position receiver extensions, Magpul ACS stocks, and Magpul MOE+ pistol grips. The Specter Light comes with enhanced takedown and pivot pins directly from the factory.
As I stated up front, I used this experience as a familiarity shoot and came away very pleased. Numerous people fired the weapons in both Light and Heavy configurations. Several times we had to wait for weapons to cool down due to the amount of rounds fired. I only noted the firing pin issue during the entire range session. In addition to our range, the rifles were used the day prior by every competitor during one of the stages of the Green Beret Foundation fundraiser shoot. There were no malfunctions noted during that event and no one complained about the weapon’s accuracy during the competition. While the range was not optimized for an accuracy evaluation, I hope to get the opportunity soon.

GEMTECH – Blast Jacket
Tuesday, November 4th, 2014The Blast Jacket is an accessory for all existing GEMTECH quickmounts. Made from titanium, it is designed to throw the muzzle blast forward away from other shooters, while also preventing dust clouds that result from shooting in the prone. It weighs only 3.5oz, and adds only 2.55″ to the OAL of a weapon.
Available in Black and Coyote Brown. The Blast Jacket requires a GEMTECH Flash Hider or Muzzle Brake for use.

Attleboro Knives – The Attleboro
Sunday, March 23rd, 2014The Attleboro is a combat utility knife designed by retired SF Operators. Forged from S35V stainless steel, the Attleboro features a cryo-treated, hollow ground blade in a spear point design with an aggressive swedge. Unique slanted serrations on the blade make for better cutting, and 1.5″ of gimping on the spine maximizes grip for optimal control with or without gloves. The handle is skeletonized for weight reduction, overlaid with Black Phenolic canvas laminate material scales. The butt of the knife features a beveled glass breaker and lanyard hole. The Attleboro is finished in H-146 Graphite Black Cerakote.
Included with every knife is an OKUDEN custom made Okydex sheath in either Desert Tan or Black. Every Attleboro also comes with a commemorative MSG William B. Hunt Memorial Chapter coin and certificate.
The Attleboro knife is designed to commemorate the actions of Army Special Forces MSG William B. Hunt and all military members involved in Operation Attleboro during the Vietnam War. Boots & Berets, inc. has allocated a percentage of every sale of the Attleboro Knife to the Green Beret Foundation.

Participate in the American Silencer Association Silent Auction at SHOT Show
Friday, January 10th, 2014The American Silencer Association is conducting a silent auction at SHOT Show to raise money for advocacy and lobbying efforts in 2014. Their primary focuses include defeating ATF 41P, expanding state ownership and hunting laws, and decreasing NFA transfer times. They have an aggressive plan in place for 2014, but need funding to properly execute. ASA would like to raise at least $25,000 at this year’s SHOT Show. Help them by supporting our industry, and supporting the association.
The auction will begin on Tuesday, and end at the close of the show on Thursday. Winners will be contacted on Friday. Each auction item will be located in the donor’s booth. Manufacturers are competing to see who can raise the most money for the ASA. The company that wins will receive an award for their efforts on behalf of the association.
