Ding Dong

Gerber Gear’s Ding Dong breaching tool is now available for 2014. Combining a sledgehammer, battering ram, and pry bar into a single breaching tool, the Ding Dong features a forged and machined head with cross-hatching that effectively bites into doors and other surfaces, minimizing slip and maximizing impact. The fiberglass handle features two equally spaced molded rings to create mechanical stops for the operator’s hands, and the enlarged pry bar end is perfect for wedging into door frames. The Ding Dong comes with a MOLLE compatible fiberglass plate on which the tool mechanically snaps and is held by a quick-detach heavy rubber strap.

Military, Law Enforcement, or First Responder credentials required for purchase. Built in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Gerber Gear Round Up – Bear Grylls Survival Belt

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013

Gerber gear offers a selection of knives, flashlights, belts, and other survival tools for the outdoorsman. We purchased a small variety of Gerber survival tools, and put them to the test with our own weekend warriors, our three Boy Scouts. The rules were simple. They could select any of the products that wanted but had to write about their impressions.

Each week, we’ll feature a new Gerber product review written by one of the Scouts. The full series can be seen at www.tacticalfanboy.com

The Bear Grylls Survival Belt has a secret compartment on the belt buckle that you twist counter-clockwise revealing the following tools:

-Snare Wire
-Fishing Line
-Fishing Hook
-Snap Swivels
-Signaling Mirror

The back of the belt buckle reveals a mini screwdriver with flathead and Philips tips. Also on the interior of the belt is a zippered compartment.

I like almost everything about this belt. I love the fishing line, fishing hook, snare wire, snap swivels, weights, and how the signaling mirror is located on the back of the cap. Also, it’s easy to tighten and loosen. What I dislike about it is the mini screwdriver is really hard to get out and the zipper pocket being on the inside instead of the outside. Overall, the belt is worth having for survival scenarios.

Gerber Downrange Tomahawk Now Shipping

Thursday, July 11th, 2013

Gerber has started shipping the Downrange Tomahawk. Designed for breaching, the axe head’s beveled edge is capable of going through walls as well as doors. The backside of the axe head functions as a hammer for getting through hinges, doorknobs and other obstacles. And, the pry bar at the end of the handle, controlled by a cut away grip in the axe head, offers considerable leverage.

Gerber Tactical Tomahawk

“The Downrange Tomahawk is another product of Gerber’s close relationship with the US Armed Forces,” said Andrew Gritzbaugh, Marketing Manager for Gerber. “By collaborating with a variety of experienced professionals we’ve developed a tool that accomplishes multiple forced entry tasks, reduces the number of tools carried and ultimately lightens the load. This product accomplishes our mission of providing the warfighter with better battlefield solutions.”

Gerber Downrange Tomahawk

The Downrange Tomahawk includes a MOLLE-compatible sheath and Kydex blade cover for safe carry and fast, unrestrained deployment.

You can see the Downrange Tomahawk we first mentioned during last summer’s Outdoor Retailer as well as other Gerber products at Warrior Expo in Virginia Beach 11-12 July.
