Griffin Armament – EXPLORR

Friday, March 22nd, 2019

Unknown to many, Griffin Armament was a technology innovator in tubeless silencer design, developing the first commercially available tubeless suppressors in 2010, The Recce Series (gen 1).   Tubeless designs although relatively featureless compared to user serviceable or modular suppressors do have a unique advantage in that they can be made very lightweight and durable.  Deleting the outer tube helps reduce weight of the system but also imposes other engineering hurdles that have to be overcome.  Griffin, having a solid R&D background in tubeless suppressors, sought to push the limits of what was capable by creating the EXPLORR™ series.  The goal was to create dedicated rifle suppressors as light as possible, including the mounting system, that nearly matched the lightweight specifications common to full titanium suppressors.  Once the program was completed, the consumer could have the lightest weight products available with better than currently available material durability in the existing class. By accomplishing this product goal, a new class of suppressors was created. Truly Lightweight and durable rifle suppressors.

Austin, Primary Owner and lead design engineer at Griffin Armament stated,

“Dedicated suppressors still have a place in the market despite so much popularity surrounding modular cans.  Modular cans are neat, but they are typically a jack of all trades stand in solution for consumers venturing into silencer ownership for the first time.  Once that user realizes the benefits of shooting a suppressor on a variety of their firearms, they usually look for more dedicated product options to fit certain interests in their shooting hobby.  This is the point where the consumer becomes very critical of performance, features, function, and price. We aim to offer a suppressor product for every consumer regardless of our own personal interests. Many people are satisfied with a modular or universal type suppressor, but most find themselves wanting to expand their collection once they get their first experience with suppressors.  The EXPLORR™ series was designed to provide users with the lightest, most accurate, and durable suppressors on the market, hands down.  You’ll find a host of special features on some of our cans, but the EXPLORR™ is a bit stripped down in terms of features but is packed in terms of weight specs and performance. This can family is designed for guys who love shooting rifles with cans. We’re excited to launch the EXPLORR™ and believe it will help keep Griffin at the forefront of suppressor offerings.  As always, I’d like to say thank you to all our great customers, without them we wouldn’t be able to have careers that we love. So thank you.”

Griffin Armaments’ Revolution Silencer Series brings new to market features and versatility in the pistol silencer class. The Mod 3 Revolution Series silencers are now rated for 7.62×39, 300 BLK supersonic, and 5.56mm for hunting applications.

“We saw the market trending In our direction on our modular silencer concept and we thought it was time to kick it up a notch and get back on top of the dog pile. So we decided to re-engineer the product and improve it with a lot of versatility and some high pressure caliber application.” -Austin, Lead engineer and primary owner of Griffin stated. He continued, “With the HPA losing steam, and silencers continuing to have a tax stamp associated, we wanted to give the customers more usability in the product. Ultimately it would be great if the HPA were to pass in some form, but it doesn’t like it will anytime soon. I think consumers are going to be putting their money into versatile products and we are happy to provide those for them.”

The Mod 3 Revolution Series silencers also now support the Griffin Taper Mount Muzzle Devices for hunting application.

In closing, Austin stated,

“I feel these silencers are great for people who want to buy something fun like a pistol silencer but who might want it to do double duty with centerfire and rimfire hunting applications. There’s more to shooting than staying on the range and dumping magazines and these products cater to the practical outdoorsman just as much as the recreational shooter. More states are hunting legal than ever before and it’s a great time to protect your hearing while enjoying one of America’s oldest traditions.”

“Make Silencers Great Again” Promotion from Griffin Armament

    Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Griffin Armament is proud to announce the “Make Silencers Great Again Promotion” Effective immediately every silencer* shipping from Griffin’s manufacturing floor to its Dealers and Distributors will contain two $100 coupons which can be mailed to Griffins address in exchange for store credit on their website. Boxes containing coupons will be sealed with a gold label.

“Sales are down unnecessarily, said Evan Green business development manager at Griffin Armament. “When the markets have been rallying and jobs are being produced, consumer misunderstanding of the legislative process and the Hearing Protection Act, is hurting an otherwise stable industry. Many people who want to buy are sitting on discretionary spending in the hopes that HPA will soon pass. The entire industry has come to a very similar conclusion that it will be quite a while until HPA is able to pass if at all despite almost unanimous support. People not buying right now is only further delaying them from enjoying silencers. It just doesn’t make any sense and this shouldn’t have happened. Unfortunately a lot of miss information was flying around and nobody in the industry was trying to educate consumers on how long it actually takes to get a bill to pass, what percentage of bills pass, that the legislative process usually takes hundreds of days etc. This bill in some form has been presented to congress since 2015 and this congressional session is closing in a few months, so it looks like it will be rolling to another year. Griffin is just as hopeful as everyone else for the HPA. However having a realistic viewpoint on it is critical to the survival of the silencer industry and the Americans who work hard to move it forward. The ‘Make Silencers Great Again’ promotion is the most we can do as a company to try to encourage spending right now.” Evan continued. “It’s honestly an amazing time to be a buyer. I remember when I was younger and was spending my money on an OPS INC can and promotions didn’t exist in the market. You could barely even get a dealer to handle the sale for you. Muzzle devices had to be purchased separately from the silencer, etc. I remember having to help my local class 3 dealer to understand the paperwork because he did so few transactions. But times have changed and there are plenty of dealers on the market selling products at great prices and walking the customer through the purchase quickly while keeping them informed. This program is also a great way to let consumers know that we appreciate them, we’ve been wanting to so something like this for a while.”

Griffin Armaments – Micro Modular Sights (M2 Sights)

    Friday, November 25th, 2016

    1

Griffin Armaments’ Micro Modular Sights are, as the name implies, low-profile and modular rifle iron sights. The sights, thanks to a patent pending interchangeable mounting plate, allows the sights to be configured either in a traditional vertical mount, or in an angle mount.

    3

“We have owned almost every sight set there is, and there really wasn’t a do it all product, especially since we’re running a lot of offsets on our personal rigs.” -Austin stated, Lead engineer and primary owner of Griffin. He went on to state, “ Often times we found ourselves running sights for a while swapping out to something else, reverting back, etc depending on what we were doing with the firearm.”

    kityoutube

“Ambidextrous feature functionality was important to us as well. Often time’s lefties are left out in the cold without good product support, especially in this category. Making the set ambidextrous for angle application ensures that these sites are applicable to any shooter with a Picatinny rail to support it,” Austin stated in detail. “We also thought that supporting the A2 post was pretty critical to customer satisfaction. The A2 is the 1911 of front sights; It has a lot of aftermarket options and we wanted to ensure that customers could use those options.”

  • 17-4 stainless steel and Ordnance Grade steel
  • Melonite QPQ treated
  • Low drag slotted windage screw
  • A2 sight tower supports A2 posts
  • Patent Pending modular base plate system
  • Scant 2.5oz system weight

Griffin Armament Low-Pro RIGID Rail Kits Available

    Sunday, July 17th, 2016

    105

The design objective for the Griffin Low-Pro RIGID rails were to provide a slim, ultralight M-LOK rail, with increased rigidity over current similar market options.

“We had been looking at the market for a while and noticed that there were two types of rails essentially. Rails that were beefy and strong, and rails that were slim and unfortunately weaker. We wanted to combine the desirable attributes of both category products into one optimal rail system.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on, “The final design resulted in 70% more rigidity than current similar market slim rails. This is important for those who need to use IR lasers as armed professionals or for hunting. There are a lot of great options now in IR laser aimer products that have solid mounting and solid bodies and we wanted to make a slim rail that provided industry leading point of aim / point of impact for those aimers.”

    f2

Low-Pro RIGID rails feature a 7075 aluminum barrel nut which can be installed with the included Griffin Armorers Wrench. The mounting is done with included shims and flat head cap screws for an ultra-flush and low profile mating to the receiver. 17-4 stainless QD flush cups are included which thread into the barrel nut through holes in the rail.

The kits include the Griffin Primo Gas Block, a 416R stainless .750” ID gas block which can be set screwed in place and / or pinned.

    IMG_5524

Additionally, the rail kits include the Griffin RAIL SHIELD panels as standard equipment. This 4 piece kit provides a 4.6” length surface for heat protection and griping. The user can choose to use the flat bottom panel or angled grip panel for enhanced recoil control.

    Available in 8.6”, 10.5”, 13.5”, and 15” lengths.

Griffin Armament AR Furniture Now Shipping

    Sunday, March 13th, 2016

    ECSKBLK1

The design objective for the Griffin AR furniture products were to bring quality, functional options to the market that offered unique benefits at affordable prices. The ECS (Extreme Condition Stock), RailShield M-LOK compatible rail covers, and A3 grip are available in Black, FDE, OD Green, and Grey.

“The Extreme condition stock definitely took the most effort.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on to say, “I wanted to make something unique and better. There is a lot of stuff that has come out on the market the last few years that is unique but doesn’t necessarily add any new function or improvement over what already existed.”

    f

The Extreme Condition Stock features a proprietary low drag latching system designed around a beefy stainless tool steel locking pin. This mechanism in conjunction with optimal geometry, and impact modified injected materials, allow the ECS to pass a 10 foot drop test when used with the Griffin MRE-HD (Maritime Receiver Extension Heavy Duty). In Griffin’s testing, the ECS stock, when used in conjunction with their MRE, allowed direct impingement Ar15s to pass an “Over The Beach Test”. Holes in the rear butt plate and along the sides of the stock communicate with holes in the MRE allowing for reduced pressure in the operating system when fired immediately after the firearm is removed from the water. The stock has a canted rear butt angle for improved ergonomics to the body. This also ensures recoil is kept high and in-line with the barrel to minimize muzzle rise. Also the top of the stock is “beard friendly” meaning there is no hole present as found in mil-spec style stocks. A low profile anti-rotation QD sling swivel socket is the provided means of sling attachment.

    Untitled-1

The A3 grip is simple in that it doesn’t have a plug on the bottom. “We polled a lot of our friends from military and contracting and a very small percentage ever used storage in plug grips even when they had them.” Said a representative from Griffin. The goal of this product was to make a very affordable improved grip over the A2 grip. “It features a more vertical grip angle and deletes the annoying finger shelf that nobody really likes.”, He went on to state

    f2

The RailShield panel kit sections are 4.6” long ensuring that you can get a full hand grip on the panels protecting your hand from thermal transfer of a hot rail if you are going through a lot of ammo fast. The styling of the kit matches the A3 grip. Four pieces are included. The user has the option of running the bottom flat panel or palm stop panel. The palm stop geometry is placed as rearward as possible, again allowing a full hand grip while giving the shooter an anchor point to pull the gun hard into the shoulder pocket to control recoil and grab fast follow up shots.

Griffin is shipping furniture at the time of this press release.
