HSP Testing Urban Wolf Grey

Travis Wearing Wolf

The crew at Haley Strategic Partners has been using Arc’teryx clothing in the still relatively new Wolf Grey color for the past few months and they have it to be great for not only night and low light operations but for just exploring the urban sprawl as well as for use in the back country.

ITS Tactical Releases New Tallboy ETA Trauma Kit

ITS ETA Trauma Kit Pouch - Tallboy 01

The Tallboy ETA Trauma Kit and Pouch are the newest additions to the ITS Medical line up and have been in development for over a year with Haley Strategic and Zulu Nylon Gear. Taking the principles of their proven ETA Trauma Kit Pouch, they refined a few features and developed an additional horizontal mounting method.

ITS ETA Trauma Kit Pouch - Fatboy 01

The original ETA Trauma Kit Pouches, now dubbed the “Fatboy” share the refined sewn and color-matched webbing pull handle with removable red Velcro One-Wrap to denote medical components. With a simple pull on the handle, the pouch quickly filets open to provide immediate access to your medical components without delay.

The Tallboy ETA Trauma Kit Pouch moves from the wider three column PALS/MOLLE mounting of the Fatboy to a slim two-column mount, taking up no more real estate than a double mag pouch.

They’ve also re-packed their kits to fit in the new Tallboy configuration and you now have the option of ordering Fatboy or Tallboy Trauma Kits. While the new Tallboy vacuum sealed kits will fit in most double mag pouches, they highly recommend a dedicated pouch like the Tallboy ETA Trauma Kit Pouch, or ensuring a proper visual indicator for medical equipment is affixed.

Along those lines, all of the ETA Trauma Kit Pouches, both Fatboy and Tallboy, now come with a Med PVC Patch included. With the new Tallboy pouches, they’ve also included extra short MALICE clips in addition to the set of tall clips.

This ensures you can mount the new Tallboy pouch in any configuration you need to, both horizontally or vertically. MOLLE/PALS aside, you can also thread the short MALICE Clips in a horizontal configuration to easily affix the Tallboy pouch to a standard belt. A battle belt can be used for proper MOLLE/PALS mounting, but isn’t required.

For the Ladies – After Action Report – Magpul Dynamics Handgun One / Haley Strategic Partners Adaptive Carbine 01

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

This AAR was provided to SSD by a talented young lady who recently attended a Haley Strategic Partners Adaptive Carbine 01 in Victoria, TX – Oct 2-4, 2013. It’s great to hear things from her point of view.

A few weeks ago I attended Haley Strategic Partner’s Adaptive Carbine One course at Arrowhead Firearms Training in Victoria, Texas. The amount of information I received over the duration of three days was extremely valuable. It was applicable not only just to carbine manipulation, but also to other weapon systems and even my perspective on everyday life as an armed citizen. I thought it would be helpful to evaluate the course in the context of my personal background and training experiences thus far.

As a woman, I often find myself surrounded by men at gun ranges who tend to be very aggressive and condescending towards me. I’ve had experiences where men have told me that I “can’t handle” a .45 caliber handgun, or assume that because I’m a woman, they automatically know more than me. There are many women out there who feel exactly the same and have had to battle this relentless “good old boys” attitude. Thankfully, at the beginning of this year I joined the Sure Shots, a women’s pistol league based in Austin, TX where women just like me can come together and learn how to shoot without the pressure of their boyfriends, husbands, or any other men who try to limit us.

It is when I joined the Sure Shots that I began to take shooting more seriously than just a fun hobby or practice to become a better hunter. I began to seek out training programs that would expand my capabilities as a shooter. The first class I took was a carbine class for the Sure Shots administered by Legion Firearms. I had never shot an AR-15 before (actually, I had never shot a rifle that wasn’t some type of bolt action hunting rifle). The class pushed me passed my physical limits, but I came out the other side more familiar and proficient with the weapon system.

A few months later a fellow Sure Shot and I took the Magpul Dynamics Handgun One course conducted by Steve Fisher, who happens to be an excellent instructor and just an awesome person to be around in general (even if he called me “Rihanna” for 3 days straight). Despite the fact that we were the only girls in a class of experienced shooters, we held our own. If I had one word to describe the three days of the course, it would be “intense.” While the class focused on technique, handgun manipulation, and accuracy, the most important thing I got out of it was discovering and experiencing my personal physical and mental breaking points. I broke bad habits and began to learn new ones. I came out a completely different shooter.

During the first day of the HSP Adaptive Carbine class I immediately began to realize that the teaching style was completely different than anything I had taken before. First of all, Travis Haley and Brannon LeBouef were very personable and welcoming. The course itself was extremely cognitive and internally focused. I began to concentrate on my mental awareness and focus. We didn’t even shoot that many rounds the first day. Yet, somehow the fewer rounds I put through the barrel, the more I was learning and improving. Their goal for the course was for us to become “thinkers before shooters.” Each day consisted of multiple stories and lessons that they shared with the class.

While the Magpul Dynamics class made me a completely different pistol shooter, the Haley Strategic class made me a completely different thinker. Both classes provided extensive training in fundamentals, which are universal to all weapon systems. The things I learned about “feel, eyes, finger” in the HSP carbine class have already made me a better handgun shooter. Likewise, the intensity and fast pace I learned in the Magpul Dynamics handgun class have helped me to be aggressive and proficient with carbine techniques.

If I were to provide advice for women looking for training, I would recommend taking a Haley Strategic Partner’s class first. It would have been interesting for me to see how my acquired mental awareness would have helped me in Steve Fisher’s class. Furthermore, don’t resist taking a class because you are intimidated, scared, or don’t want to be “yelled at.” I think it is vitally important to be pushed in that way. You need to be able to face your barriers so you can cross them. It is important to diversify your training to discover which techniques works best for you. Also, you will discover that the firearms community consists of some of the most welcoming and friendly people you will ever meet. Everyone wants to share their gear, stories, and learned lessons with each other, especially with women who are taking the initiative to make themselves better. They want to be part of that. Just remember, stay open to all types of training and don’t be afraid to try something new.

Bravo Company Joins Forces with Haley Strategic Partners to Introduce The Jack Carbine

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Bravo Company has joined forces with Haley Strategic Partners to produce The Jack, as in “Jack of all Trades.” The technologies integrated into this carbine build are impressive, to say the least.

Built on a Bravo Company lower and upper, the 5.56mm carbine relies on BCM’s 14.5″ Government Profile Barrel (and mid-length gas system) with a permanent mounting of the brand new BCMGUNFIGHTER Compensator making it a 16″ Civilian Legal Barrel. This is paired with the excellent Geissele Super Modular Rail mounted with a BCM Diopter Front Folding Battle Sight and Rear Folding Battle Sight.

HSP also specified the ALG Defense ACT Trigger which gives you a Geissele quality trigger in a US GI package as well as the newly debuted B5 Systems SOPMOD Bravo Stock mounted to a Bravo Company receiver extension. The Jack also includes a BCM GUNFIGHTER Charging Handle and Mod I Pistol Grip. Weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz (with light, mount and irons), The Jack incorporates the Inforce WML-HSP (Momentary Only White Light Black Body) mounted to a Haley Strategic Thorntail Offset Light Mount built by Impact Weapons Components right out of the box. All of this topped off with a custom Disruptive Grey tone Cerakote finish by Joint Force Enterprises. This gun is ready to go as soon as you pick it up from the FFL. The only thing you will want to do to upgrade The Jack is to add an optic of your choice.

For more info about the component technologies checkout this document.
TheJack

I am continually impressed at the quality of BCM guns and the number of products that are debuting on The Jack is a testament to the hard work that Haley Strategic Partners put into working with their industry affiliates to make this a reality.

INFORCE Releases WML HSP – 200 Lumens – Momentary Only Activation

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

The INFORCE WML HSP was specced out by Haley Strategic Partners specifically for tactical low light applications. Running a white light with an upgraded 200 lumen lamp, it offers tight beam for close- to mid-range applications. The light also delivers a balanced peripheral light for discernment of the surrounding area.

One of the things I like about this version of the WML (other than the $109 price) is that it features a momentary only digital pressure pad. The ergonomic pressure pad is angled and it’s right there on the light so there are no wires or tape switches. Additionally, there are two distinct easy-to-operate lockout systems to avoid light accidental discharges. It’s a scant 3 ounces all told, including batteries which will offer 90 minutes of run time at 200 lumens. It also integrates its own mounting solution that is Mil Std 1913 compatible. Finally, the WML is waterproof to 66 feet.

HSP Blog Reboot

Thursday, November 1st, 2012

Travis Haley gives us a vlog update on what he’s been up to and where Haley Strategic Partners is going. A couple of interesting notes. One is the advent of Disruptive Science or D5 and the upcoming new course, Fluid Kinesthetic Awareness which will concentrate on how the body employs a weapon in a variety of positions.

HSP is dedicated to working with other companies through their Disruptive Industries program as well as codevelopment of products directly with their industry affiliates. The message from Travis Haley? Look for new products this coming year. Based on this, something stood out in the video that I found very interesting. Haley briefly flashed this image. Could it be a new Bravo Company rifle? Maybe an HSP rifle?

Finally, Haley also urges folks to support the MARSOC Foundation.
