Juggernaut Case For iPhone 5 – Soon To Go Up On Kickstarter

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

img_9645

Starting September 30th, Juggernaut Defense is launching a Kickstarter to fund an iPhone 5 variant for their Juggernaut Case. We’ll be sure to keep you updated when the project goes up for funding.

Juggernaut Cases enable units to employ the ‘smartphone on the battlefield’ by ruggedizing the device within a shockproof/dustproof, IP-6X Case that contains an EMI-shielded USB connection to tactical radios through a sealed Glenair 80-series connector. By implementing features like the hands-free/flip-down armor mount and anti-glare etched chem-strengthened glass screen protector, users will be able to employ this ‘smartdevice technology’ running Android apps on the battlefield. The cases and mounts are manufactured in Arizona and are Berry-Compliant.

Ok, so it’s another pair of Merino underwear, and granted, these are made from Australian Merino wool rather than the New Zealand variety, but that isn’t what’s really interesting about these. It’s the two pockets that make these stand out. The first, the quick access pocket, is large enough to store money, credit cards, and other small items you’d need quick access to. The larger pocket is made from 100% recyclable new age polyethylene and is certified waterproof up to 200ft deep by Scuba Schools International.

The Sans 13 Tritium Dial Tactical Watch

Monday, July 15th, 2013

Sans 13

Unsatisfied with the current offerings on the market, the team of Jerommie Smith and Ryan Bradley decided to make their own tactical watch that blends form and function. What they came up with is the Sans 13 Tritium Dial Tactical Watch. The size of the Sans 13 is 43mm, with a case made from PVD coated 316L stainless steel and a black dial with full tritium vital markers and hands. It features Ronda 6003.D 4 Jewel Swiss quartz movement, hardened mineral crystal, a one-direction rotating bezel, and a 5mm 100% natural rubber custom-designed strap, which is easily interchangeable with an aftermarket strap, courtesy of the 20mm lug size. It’s water resistant up to 100m, and the watch face features a magnified date window. The Sans 13 is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, and the watch itself is available as a pledge reward, at far below the estimated retail price.

Back “Terminal Lance: The White Donkey” on Kickstarter

Saturday, July 13th, 2013

Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform that matches projects with donors. You find a project you like and you pledge funds to help it come to fruition. One of the latest projects to make the pages of Kickstarter is “Terminal Lance: The White Donkey” a graphic novel. It comes from Maximilian Uriarte, the creator of Terminal Lance, a web-based comic strip that offers a humorous look at Marine Corps life.

“Terminal Lance: The White Donkey” is a 150 page story about a Marine and his journey to Iraq, written and illustrated by a Marine. The creator Max has been working on the project for over three years. I always think its great when we can help a fellow Veteran make his dream come true, so SSD put our money where our mouth is and pitched in. Check it out. You may want to help as well. The rewards for your pledge look pretty good.

MS Clean: The Magazine Shaped Cleaning Kit

Monday, July 1st, 2013

Peter Palma used his experience as a Marine, including his dissatisfaction with the issue cleaning kit, to create the MS Clean. The MS Clean is a hard plastic cleaning kit shaped like a 30-round STANAG magazine, which allows it to fit into any pouch, pocket, etc. that would fit a STANAG mag; it’s dimensions are slightly larger than the actual magazine so it can’t accidentally be seated into a mag well. This makes the kit readily available while also keeping parts organized. The MS Clean is currently in the prototype phase and is available for funding on Kickstarter.

ATLAS: Performance Dress Sock from Ministry of Supply

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

We’ve written about Ministry of Supply‘s unique blend of performance fabrics and office attire a couple of times now. Once again, they have come up with a great concept, paid for by crowdfunding.

This time, Ministry of Supply take on the dress sock. It looks much more comfortable and functional compared to the more traditional alternative. Using Strain Analysis, Pressure Mapping, and Thermal Imaging during development allowed MoS to maximize the comfort and heat management of the socks, which move along with the wearer much like a second skin. The socks are made from a blend of 40% cotton, 20% elastane, and 40% recycled polyester infused with carbonized coffee. The carbonized coffee particles attract and absorb aromatic molecules, which are easily removed in the wash. Two variants are planned, the ATLAS dress sock and ATLAS loafer sock, both initially available in black.

Support Panteao Productions’ Kickstarter Project

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

Panteao Productions launched a fund raising project on Kickstarter today in an effort to help fast track the construction of an indoor studio and outdoor ranges near their headquarters in SC. They have a 34 acre undeveloped parcel and their local banks are willing to do a loan on a building but are hesitant on the range portion. However, due to the intended use of the facility, the ranges are the more important aspect of the project since they need them for filming future videos.

They have been wanting to film a series of documentary videos on K9 Dog Handling, starting with “Intro to Schutzhund” and “Advanced Schutzhund”. The funds raised as part of this project will help prepare their facility in order to begin filming of these new titles.
