SOFIC – Rocky

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

We’ve mentioned the Rocky S2V Jungle Boot several times in the past but I’m happy to say that these have moved from the T&E phase and have entered production.

The production model, available beginning in June will be in a darker Olive Mojave than the Tan seen here. The upper is 1000D Ballistic Cloth Cordura and integrates a thorn proof liner in the forefoot to prevent black palm punctures as well as a stainless steel mesh screen vent to prevent debris from entering the boot. It also features an anti-microbial orthotic insole.

Rocky S2V – Extreme Outdoor Gear

Friday, October 5th, 2012

One of the coolest thing I saw during August’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market was the debut of Rocky’s S2V outdoor line. Made up of both clothing and footwear, the pedigree of the line follows Rocky’s S2V military boots. Rocky also invested in working with Mountain Shepherd Survival School‘s experts to integrate survival and recovery tools right into the gear.

Every piece of kit I saw at OR is well designed. I’ve been wearing a Center Hold wind shirt in Black as weather permits and I’ve got to say that I like it. It features a nylon shell with a gridded polyester lining. As you can imagine, it’s very soft and could easily be worn next-to-skin. Additionally, the underarms are mesh combined with a zipper that lowers to mid chest to avoid overheating. In addition to thumb holes for cold weather the single, zippered chest pocket incorporates a small internal pocket that holds a bright pink marker panel to help you get found. If I have any complaints it’s with the zipper as it is a fine tooth model and fouled a couple of times on my when I tied to close it one handed.

Make sure you visit the website and check out the entire line. I’ve got my eyes on a couple of the other garments for this Winter. Coming Fall 2012, www.rockys2v.com.

Check Out Rocky’s New Kicks

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

Rocky is releasing several new Hunting and Duty boot designs this year at SHOT Show. We like the look of the S2V Hiker based on the popular current S2V. As for the C4 Trainer it seems as if we have seen the sole design before.

We’ve been badgering them all year asking if they are going to ever release the Broadhead (does the sole look familiar?) we saw last year on the hunting side but it just doesn’t look like it’s in the cards. Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us.

At any rate, check out Rocky at booth # 11034 for Hunting and #11170 for Duty.

Rocky S2V in BAMS

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The Rocky S2V has been quite a hit with the Air Force. So much so that a steel-toed version featuring a Gore-tex and Thinsulate lining will be included in the Air Force’s BAMS kit as the only boot. The Battlefield Airman Management System is a program begun by former Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen Jumper to commoditize the purchase of Soldier Systems gear for Airmen from the Combat Control, Combat Rescue, Tactical Air Control and Combat Weather careerfields.

Rocky S2V in USAF Sage Green

I’ve been wearing a pair for about a year and they are comfortable as well as durable. The jungle-style boot is packed with features which include Super Fabric insteps for fast roping and climbing, high walled soles, flame and water resistant uppers, and antimicrobial treatment. The Berry Compliant S2V is available in sizes 4-15 in Tan, Sage, and Black from Rocky Boots.
