Hydrapak Announces Partnerships with London Bridge Trading and Source One Distributors

Monday, January 14th, 2013

This announcement by Hydrapak, may well have some interesting implications for a market long dominated by Camelbak and to a lesser extent Source Hydration. Hydrapak has been around since 2001 and been an OEM provider of hydration bladders. LBT is well known for producing quality load carrying and armor systems and Source One Distributors brings their TLS and prime vendor experience to the table. It looks to be quite a combo.

Hydrapak, a leading global supplier of active-lifestyle hydration equipment, today announced partnerships with London Bridge Trading, a leading equipment designer and manufacturer for the United States Armed Forces, and Source One Distributors, a top military equipment distributor.

The new collaborations, featuring Hydrapak’s ultra-durable 1st Wave technology, make the Oakland-based company a leading supplier of hydration solutions for American troops at home and abroad.

“Hydrapak’s innovative hydration technologies and Source One’s knowledge of military distribution channels and tactical gear will allow us to provide additional assistance to the men and women of our armed forces,” said Vinny Chhibber, Source One’s marketing manager.

“Though our two companies are in a new relationship, Hydrapak has worked with us like we’ve been together for years,” said Vincent Moran, LBT’s vice-president of purchasing. “We look forward to a bright future with Hydrapak.”

Hydrapak introduced its 1st Wave hydration systems in 2011, its first product line designed specifically to the requirements of military, law enforcement, and industrial needs. In addition to reservoirs constructed with extra-thick thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), 1st Wave products also feature TPU- and Neoprene-insulated drinking tubes and dust covers for bite valves – design innovations that acknowledge the harsh environments where soldiers serve.

“We’re a hydration company that’s willing to innovate and capable of innovating,” said Hydrapak CEO and Lead Engineer Matt Lyon. He added that the company’s experience as an OEM provider for top brands such as The North Face, Salomon, and DaKine makes it uniquely suited to design and distribution partnerships.

Maneuver Conference – Drift Dry USA

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Drift Dry USA finds its roots in the SCUBA industry and has taken their history in maritime technologies to integrate flotation into combat gear. Now, they’ve taken their experience with stabilizing SCUBA loads in the back to develop a new ALICE-style frame system.

They’ve integrated TIG welding technologies from NASCAR and aviation industries. They’ve made a frame that is stronger and lighter, initially with still and now with aluminum. Additionally, Drift Dry has eliminated those pesky rivets and other unnecessary components that are the week points of the frame.

You may also notice the padded captive suspension system. It integrates load lifters at the shoulders and the waist belt is precurved to fit the hips.

They’ve also introduced a pack bag for the frame with an internal, adjustable radio pouch as well as dual internal hydration sleeves with unique external drain holes. The Mission Patrol pack also incorporates A removable rain cover.

Dry Drift USA products are available from Source One Distributors.

Kryptek LEAF

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Kryptek is developing a good following for their unique hunting camouflage and clothing line available through Cabela’s. Earlier today, they unveiled Kryptek L.E.A.F., which is a SDVOB (Service Disabled, Veteran Owned Business) that handles all of their government/military work. What makes this so significant is the timing. We didn’t expect to start seeing any of the proposed US Army camo patterns until after the upcoming down select announcement, but Kryptek LEAF just unveiled their full lineup. Go ahead and click on the image below to blow it up to full size so you can get a better feel for the patterns.

These four patterns make a family that shares common geometry but with complimentary color palettes for different environments. There is Highlander which serves as their Transitional pattern, Mandrake which is a Woodland design, Nomad for use in the Desert, and Yeti for Snow use. Not shown on this image are Urban and Typhon which are Grey based patterns for various urban applications.

Take a look at Highlander. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before and they’ve done a great job of producing the illusion of 3D. As you can see, it looks great on a flat file. The question with not only these patterns but all of the Army candidates is, “Can they print it?” I’d say that this photo is a good indication that they can.

Kryptek on how it works:
Kryptek utilizes a multi-directional design to effectively conceal in a multitude of terrains that have either a lateral or vertical flow. The bi-level layering of the patterns incorporate background transitional shading and sharp random geometrical foregrounds to create a three dimensional effect that ensures the utmost in concealment at both close and long ranges. These components combined with colorations selected and matched based on input from testing and observations from Operators in the field make Kryptek Camo the ultimate in passive battlefield deception.

Kryptek LEAF will be officially unveiled at SHOT Show in Source One Distributors booth #8203.
