SureFire Offering Rechargeable Batteries

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

SureFire is now offering K2 Energy rechargeable LFP 123A batteries. They can be purchased alone or along with a wall/car charger. The runtime of these rechargeables is about 50% of disposable batteries but they do retain approximately 50% of their original capacity even after 500 charging cycles so over the long haul they can show substantial savings.

Please note – Rechargeable LFP 123A batteries are only to be used to power LED illumination products (built to use 123A lithium batteries) and NOT those featuring incandescent lamps. The initial elevated voltage of these rechargeable batteries, immediately after charging, may cause the filament contained within an incandescent lamp to break or “burn out”.

Colt M2012

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Colt Defense has released a new bolt action rifle at the NRA National Convention this weekend in St Louis. You may have seen the photo of the M2012 that was released by NRAblog. Few details exist so far but we do know that it is chambered for .308 with a 22-inch barrel with a 1:10 twist topped off with a SureFire muzzle brake. It’s a bit of a beast weighing in at over 13 pounds.

The receiver is from Cooper Firearms receiver with an M4 style pistol grip. This aesthetic can be very important for the shooter who doesn’t want to stick out in a crowd of M4s.

Size Comparison – SureFire HellFighter 4 & Mini Hellfighter

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

We took this photo at SHOT Show which should give you a good idea of the difference in size between Surefire’s HellFighter 4 and the ‘Mini HellFighter”. According to SureFire it’s LED based rather than HID and produces 2000 lumens versus the 3000 lumens of the HF1 and HF4. No word on when or if it will hit the street.

22% Of Your EDC Should be SureFire

Friday, March 30th, 2012

GQ magazine published a story entitled ‘Nine Things Every Man Should Have in His Pockets‘. As it turns out, two of the nine items are from SureFire. Since the other items aren’t SureFire, we won’t bother mentioning them, but it’s a worthy read nonetheless.

SureFire Updating Ordering Software

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

We received this email earlier this evening from SureFire. In order to maximize its exposure we decided to share it with you. This is a public service announcement…

Dear SureFire Customer:

SureFire is transitioning to a new merchant software platform.

After March 26, 2012, your SureFire account will no longer exist. You will not be able to log into your “My Account” page, nor will you be able to access your order history or the status of any open orders (backorders, recent orders, and returned merchandise orders).

However, this will not affect SureFire’s normal order processing procedure. Rest assured that all open orders, including new orders placed at any time, will be processed as usual in the normal time frame. Only your ability to log into a SureFire account page to view order status will be affected.

After March 26, 2012, if you wish to have a SureFire account you must create a new one by going to www.surefire.com and clicking the “Create Account” link at the top of the page. Because it will be a completely new account, it will not show any account history, nor show the status of any open orders. Only orders placed after the creation of your new account will become visible.

We value all of our customers and regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you have any questions concerning an open order or order history, please email Customer Service at helpyou@surefire.com or call us at 1-800-828-8809.

Caveat Emptor – Counterfeit Dueck Defense RTS Sights

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Be aware, there are currently a number of counterfeit Dueck Defense RTS Sights currently being sold on eBay, apparently being marketed at the MilSim community (no, not interested in an all-encompassing “Airsofters are evil” diatribe). We first mentioned the Dueck RTS in Dec of 2010. Effectively, they can work as backup sights or as dedicated transition sights for close in targets when your carbine is equipped with a scope. In fact, the RTS replicates the M16-style front and rear sight system many are used to from their time training with issue weapons just mounted on a 45 deg offset.

If you’re looking to purchase one, ensure you are getting the real thing. Dueck Defense RTS Sights are made in the USA and are ISO Certified.  You can find the real thing on the Dueck Defense website or through SureFire.

Here’s a video of the sights in action:
