MultiCam Materials – Omega

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering Omega. MultiCam is a single camouflage pattern designed to hide the wearer in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions. After a great deal of commercial success and adoption by elements of US Special Operations Forces, in 2010 MultiCam was selected for use by the US Army as its Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

Duro’s Omega is a polyester mesh which offers a high tear strength matrix featuring a 2mm hole diameter. This means high breathability and the ability to look through fabric for camouflage applications. This product is commonly used for concealing vehicles as well as creating lightweight and high strength tactical gear. One place you will see it is on the new helmet covers from Crye Precision and FirstSpear. However, one of the best applications we have seen is Tactical Concealment Manufacturing Corp’s MCM Cobra with Hood which is a ghillie foundation.

Finished Width – 58 inches cuttable approximately
Finished Weight – 8 oz/yd² approximately
Fiber Content – 100% polyester
Mesh Holes – 10 per inch both directions
Tear Strength – 16 lbs typical both directions

Tactical Concealment’s MCM Cobra with Hood is a great ghillie foundation. It’s cloak-like design is intended for use as an “Assaulter’s Ghillie” and can be worn in conjunction with combat equipment such as armor vests and load carrying systems as well as low profile backpacks. Additionally, the hood is oversized to accommodate a helmet. Notice that the sleeves are short so that it won’t impede your ability to operate your weapon or other equipment. Finally, Tactical Concealment has bartacked a grid of 550 parachute cord along the hood, arms and back of the garment in order to add garnish and customize the Cobra for your own use.

Assaulter Ghillie Pieces from Tactical Concealment

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

This article originated on Tactical Fanboy

You may have already read that Tactical Concealment built the ghillie suits used in Act of Valor (see Tactical Concealment on SSD). They are very well known in shooter circles for the quality of their kit. That isn’t hype or bs, I’ve talked to several guys who use nothing else. Tactical Concealment essentially builds various “signature management” foundations for various uses, from full-blown ghillie suits to hoods and chaps and everything else. A recent offering from TC addresses those who require more limited signature management. It’s designed for use folks who require some outline work but don’t want to wear the entire thing (like assaulters, as mentioned, or members of LE tracking teams, or perhaps LE K9 units in a rural area…or even just MilSim shooters who want to get close to their target).

The piece in question is the Tactical Concealment Viper. It comes in two forms, standard and “Mosquito”. The latter is built of a new material that substantially decreases weight (you can, in fact, put it in a BDU pocket).

Note: you’re going to pay for this. It’s high end stuff meticulously made for guys and girls on the sharp end by a very small staff. If you’re looking for something less expensive, no worries, but this won’t be it. You get what you pay for. I have some Tactical Concealment gear and believe me, it’s solid and built to last. Go like ’em or friend ’em or whatever you call it on Facebook, right now, and tell ’em TANSTAAFL of Tactical Fanboy sent ya. You won’t get anything for doing so, but it will make me look good.

From the website:

“Whether you’re an assaulter or sniper the benefit of suppressing your visual presence to the enemy is extremely important. Tactical Concealment’s Viper is a new high-speed garment designed not just for snipers but for any operator who can benefit from having a tactical edge edge toward visual based camouflage/concealment. Specific to this type of operator is that the Viper is designed to be worn in conjunction and work in unison with combat loadout equipment including tactical vests, armored plate carriers, assault vests and any size backpack. Any tactical operator can now achieve the camouflage/concealment effectiveness of a sniper and his ghillie suit but scaled into a package that is practical and suited toward the working needs and working requirements of an assaulter…”

M-TAC Tablet Pack

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Tactical Concealment Manufacturing Corp has diverged just a little from what you wound consider their core business, that of individual signature management. Truth be told, they’ve been developing some innovative tactical nylon for the sniper community for some time. But none of it is like their newly introduced M-TAC (Modular Tactical) Tablet Pack.

Tactical Concealment Manufacturing Introduces A-TACS

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Established in 1999, Tactical Concealment Manufacturing, Corp is well known for their ghillie-based concealment systems. Now, they’ve added A-TACS to their line.

Products include:

The popular Mamba Suit offers the operator full body concealment. Built from scratch and constructed from the highest quality materials, the Mamba is provided ungarnished allowing the user to garnish it as best suited for their operating environment.

The Cobra system base garment is designed to be worn in conjunction and work in unison with, combat loadout equipment including LBVs, Assault Vests and slim line backpack systems. The concept is that the wearer achieve the same camouflage/concealment effectiveness a Sniper has with a ghillie suit, but scaled into a package that is practically suited toward the working needs and style of an Assaulter. The Cobra is suited for LP/OP, Reconnaissance/Intelligence Gathering, Ranging, Forward Observation, Dismounted Patrol, Ambush Line and Target Beaconing. One size fits most.

The GhillieSkins Viper Hood is a lightweight, cape-like garment that covers the head and upper body. Like the Cobra, this garment is also designed to be worn in conjunction and work in unison with combat loadout equipment including LBV’s, Assault Vests and Backpack systems. Once again, one size fits most.

On a similar note, the Snipers Boonie is designed provide head and shoulder concealment but based on a boonie hat platform. One size fits most.

Finally, the Sidewinder Chest Skid Plate does exactly what the name implies. It provides a smooth, unobstructed chest skid surface for low crawls during stalks or movements during Close Target Recces. Additionally, it provides much needed comfort and reduces physiological degradation often found against harsh ground surfaces and temperate conditions. An inner liner integrates a side entry pocket for document and map storage and allows the wearer to adjust the level of chest padding. Constructed from 1000 denier Cordura, it is a one-piece design with adjustment straps to allow for adjustment for different size wearers and a 1-inch webbing egress crotch strap keeps the SideWinder from riding-up during reverse crawls. Finally, donning and doffing is facilitated by 1-inch ITW Nexus buckles.
