A New Use For The MALICE Clip?

Monday, December 23rd, 2013

Elysium

Tactical Tailor provided some gear for the movie, “Elysium”. Some of the kit was really cool and wasn’t sure how, or even if, their stuff had been used, until they watched the DVD and then noticed a MALICE clip being used for cable management. Now, I’m sure somebody is going to tell us that they do this ALL of the time, but I’ve never seen anyone do it. To me, it’s pretty interesting to see what happens when you give a piece of gear to someone who doesn’t know what it’s for. Sometimes they’ll surprise you.

Tactical Tailor is releasing the Cerberus, a purpose built 3 day medic pack.

The bag opens with heavy duty zippers that run from the bottom of one side of the bag to the other to allow complete access to the contents.

The inside of the bag is lined with loop and features removable hook backed pockets to customize the inside to your needs. The interior also features a hydration sleeve and removable VS-17 panel.

The outside features a double carrying handle, thick padded shoulder straps, sternum and waist straps as well as modular webbing on the front, bottom and sides for attaching additional gear.

Although designed as a 72-hr Medic pack, the Cerberus functions equally well as a camera bag or anything else you can think of.

Sneak Peek – Improved MALICE Clips from Tactical Tailor

Monday, November 18th, 2013

20131118-085340.jpg

During a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest I has to opportunity to visit Tactical Tailor factory where I saw their injection molding machine pumping out 4 new MALICE clips every 45 seconds. But there was something different about these MALICE clips. I asked if I could share a few details and here’s your scoop.

20131118-085002.jpg

The new design enhancements give the MALICE clip a slightly different look which sheds some weight. The curved design also makes it easier to thread the MALICE clip through webbing. Additionally, TT has changed the formula of the polymer to add strength yet give it a more flexible feel. In fact, the new model has already tested at over 20 times as strong as the current version and 40% lighter.

They’ve also been working to improve how they mount the MALICE clip to pouches. You may notice that here they are using a backer made from impregnated nylon.

Look for new the MALICE clips soon in both short and long sizes.

Tactical Tailor Announces Products In PenCott Camouflage Patterns

Wednesday, November 6th, 2013

This has been in the works for a little while and we’re happy to see it announced. I’d expect a few other announcements along these lines coming in the near future as well.

20131106-204151.jpg

Tactical Tailor, supplier of rugged, 100% American-made tactical equipment to Warfighters around the world, is proud to announce it will be building equipment in the PenCott™ family of camouflage patterns.

The effectiveness camouflage should not gauged by popularity, nor aesthetic appeal. Camouflage is measured by its ability to mask shape and form to prevent detection. The successful use of camouflage—or its compromise—often determines mission success, mission failure and even mission completion. It is for this reason that Hyde Definition calls their patterns Mission Critical Camouflage, and it’s because of PenCott’s efficacy that TT added the Badlands™ and GreenZone™ variants to its equipment camo pattern options.

“We haven’t just looked at T&E results,” says Tactical Tailor’s GW Ayers, “We did our own research. We took it to the field and sent it overseas…the results are in. We need to offer PenCott™.”

“Tactical Tailor makes some of the most rock solid and effective gear on the planet,” says Lawrence Holsworth, Hyde Definition’s Director of Business Development. “It’s a great honor to be working with them—and a testament to the effectiveness of PenCott™’s patterns that they chose us.”

Hyde Definition’s family of patterns features a unique, hybrid, 3-in1 pattern geometry that is more organic and natural looking than typical camouflages. It provides superior concealment at all ranges. Founder Dominic Hyde realized the deficiencies of many such patterns years ago and set out to design a new pattern geometry that would be more effective and adaptable than any other patterns available.

“The PenCott™ patterns are enjoying great growth internationally,” Holsworth advises, “so teaming up with Tactical Tailor will help us consolidate and build on that success in the US market as well.”

Tactical Tailor will initially be offering equipment in BadLands™ (for dry, upland, bushland, semi-arid and transitional terrain) and GreenZone™ (for verdant temperate, tropical and semi-tropical operations). There are two other patterns, with a fifth in development: SandStorm™ (for arid, desert terrain) and SnowDrift™ (for snow and winter terrain). The last pattern is called MetroPolis. It’s an urban/industrial/low-light pattern scheduled for release in 2014.

“Sandstorm™ and SnowDrift™ are great patterns, no doubt,” Ayers continues, shading his eyes with a grin and looking into the distance. “and MetroPolis is intriguing. However, I can neither confirm nor deny we’ll be doing anything with those in the future.”

Tactical Tailor and Grey Ghost Gear Win Marine Corps Family of Pouches Contract

Friday, September 20th, 2013

Tactical Tailor just informed us that they have been awarded a contract by the United States Marine Corps to provide four pouches for Marine use.

Today Tactical Tailor was advised they were selected to provide modular load-bearing pouches for the AN/PVS-14, AN/PRC-153 IISR and PRC 152. They will also be providing 40mm grenade bandoliers. Additionally, Tactical Tailor collaborated closely with partner Grey Ghost Gear to obtain the contract.

The NVG pouch, technically the AN/PVS-14 Night Vision Monocular and Rhino Mount pouch, was designed by Grey Ghost Gear in conjunction with USSOCOM personnel who were actually on the ground in Afghanistan at the time.

The 40mm bandoliers are one of the most widely-recognized pieces of gear Tactical Tailor manufactures and has been provided to numerous units at the local level. Now, it will be “standard issue” to all Marine grenadiers.

Tactical Tailor CEO Casey Ingels was preparing to fly to the Middle East to consult with representatives of USSOCOM at the time of this release. However, Lindsey Lea, Grey Ghost Gear Director of Business Development and High Despotrix, was happy to discuss the contract.

“This was the first really big collaboration between Tactical Tailor and Grey Ghost Gear,” Ms. Lea advised. “We’re especially excited because this was a specific request. They didn’t come to us and ask us to build something they’d already developed specs for. They contracted us to provide those pieces of gear because it has all been tested hard in the field. This is obviously great news. From a business perspective it’s obviously a great contract to win. From a personal perspective it’s very rewarding to know we’ve had a hand in putting the most rugged, purpose-built gear available into those Marines’ hands.”
