Now that I have secured my selections, I’ll go ahead and tell the rest of you, Lipsey’s is exclusively offering nine models of Gen 3 & 4 GLOCK pistols in Flat Dark Earth. These aren’t the OD models previously produced by GLOCK, but rather an all new color. Interestingly, the G21’s backstraps will be Black rather than FDE.

Kyle Defoor on Mountain Khakis

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

In his role as MRE brand ambassador, Kyle Defoor produced a great video on why he wears Mountain Khakis. I have a few pairs as well and like Kyle, my first pair were the Mountain Utility model. They wear like iron. I’m also wearing a lot of Kuhl and Arc’teryx with two pairs of TAD Force 10s thrown in the mix as well as well. There are a lot of good pants out there and Kyle makes a compelling case as to how you can go all in on one brand. Mountain Khakis not only does pants. Based on my visit to their booth at last Outdoor Retailer, they are definitely worth a look for shirts and jackets as well. It might also get some of you jazzed up to know that MK is owned by Freedom Group who also owns Remington and its affiliate firearms companies.

MultiCam Materials – LAMBDA NTS

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering LAMBDA NTS. MultiCam is a single camouflage pattern designed to help the wearer hide in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions. After a great deal of commercial success and adoption by elements of US Special Operations Forces, in 2010 MultiCam was selected for use by the US Army as its Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

LAMBDA NTS is a high-performance, super smooth fabric designed for technical baselayers. In the past it has been used for cycling jerseys and running tights. It features a high spandex content that dramatically increases stretch and compression properties. Since it was designed for use as a baselayer, it also incorporates anti-microbial protection and moisture wicking properties.

Specs
Finished Width – 58 inches cuttable
Finished Weight – 3.75 oz/yd² approximately
Fiber Content – 92% Microfiber Polyester/8% Spandex

LAMBDA NTS was just released during SHOT Show and is so new that no one has picked it up yet but I think it’s going to make some great T-shirts. But that only makes sense as NTS stands for Next To Skin. I was able to check out a swatch at SHOT Show and it has a very cozy hand. It might also be incorporated as a stretch panel in other garments or perhaps as a torso section for a non-FR, fully printed combat shirt. I can’t wait to see how it’s used.

Duro offers progressive pricing based on the number of yards ordered. For more information on this or any of the full line of MultiCam fabrics visit www.multicamfabric.com or email Galpen_Ben@DuroLink.com.
