ICE Tactical to Assemble Deceptex Uniforms

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Hyperstealth Biotechnology Corp informed us that ICE (Integrated Combat Equipment) Tactical will be assembling the Hyperstealth Deceptex uniforms. After reviewing the requirements and working with Hobey Walker of ICE Tactical on a current Hyperstealth project, Guy Cramer, President/CEO of Hyperstealth states: “this makes much more sense to provide a higher quality garment than we would be able to do ourselves. This is ICE Tactical’s area of expertise and ours is on the pattern and printing side. It was ADS Inc. that recommended that I contact Hobey Walker for this Deceptex program as his company is only an hour drive from Hyperstealth. Hobey has made 20 uniforms for Hyperstealth in the past month from our printed material and he is working on another 8 which will be ready on Monday. We can’t tell you who the user is for all these 28+ uniforms – due to an NDA, but we are using this to refine the Deceptex printing and assembly process so we have it all nailed down when we do open the site for orders (shortly).

Initially we will only be offering Deceptex for Jackets and Pants and Helmet covers but ICE Tactical has the ability to make Boonie Hats, Load Carrying Gear, Platforms, Pouches, Accessories and Shelters, these may come later for all Deceptex patterns once we source the heavier textiles that work best with our Hyperstealth Textile Printers and work within the ICE Tactical capabilities.”

We think it also kind of helps that they are both located in the Vancouver, BC of Canada.

DECEPTEX, is an innovative “Print on Order” camouflage system capitalizing on 21st century technology. Deceptex is not a camouflage pattern but a camouflage system; Hyperstealth will use their two large format digital inkjet textile printers to print any Deceptex pattern as customer will be able to order one or more uniforms based on a selection of hundreds of Hyperstealth Camouflage patterns (currently there are 259 Deceptex patterns).

‘Murph’ – The Movie

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

I’ve been hearing for some time about efforts to make a movie about fallen US Navy SEAL, LT Michael Murphy, recipient of the Medal of Honor. Just yesterday, I found about a grass roots effort being staged on indigogo.com to raise $75,000 over the next two weeks in order to produce a documentary on this extraordinary man. Indiegogo.com works much like Kickstarter to crowd source funding and provides incentives to those who invest in projects.

They’ve already funded the early stages of the film internally but will soon move into the production and post-production phases and expenses will grow exponentially, including but not limited to administration, travel, location shoots, editing, music, titles, effects, etc. This is why they need your help making this film a reality.

AKARS Now Available from BHI

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

For those of us used to the ample amount of mounting space afforded by the Picatinny rails on our M4 carbines, the AK family of small arms can come off as a bit of a disappointment. What’s more, the short sight radius of the Kalishnikov leaves many of us questioning the utility of the weapon at longer ranges. Various mounting adaptions to the AK have come along, including the Russian scope mount solution but now something new is available that addresses both issues I’ve raised.

The new AKARS (AK Adaptive Rail System), designed and manufactured by Parabellum Armament is now available through Blackheart International. AKARS is a four-point mounting platform consisting of a replacement receiver cover and an integrated rail adapter combined with a one-piece 1913 Picatinny rail/rear sight assembly and attaching hardware.

20120619-212037.jpg

The AKARS Picatinny rail assembly replaces the OEM rear sight leaf, installing directly onto the rear sight mounting location (mounting point ONE). This gives the AKARS a positive mounting point that eliminates the slop found in many optic mounts that install only onto the receiver cover. That thing moves all over the place. Additionally, the rail assembly includes a built-in Back Up Iron Sight.

20120619-212222.jpg

The hinged design of the rail mount allows the AKARS/sight assembly to lift up and out of the way for easy access to the interior of the AK receiver. This permits operators to perform routine cleaning, maintenance and address firing/feed malfunctions without removing the optic or losing the rifle’s zero.

20120619-212316.jpg

The AKARS receiver cover/adapter assembly installs onto the Picatinny rail assembly via two precision locating pins (mounting point TWO) with no tools needed. Once the receiver cover assembly is installed onto the rail assembly, the receiver cover is secured to the receiver via the AK’s standard rear sight base (mounting point THREE) and driving spring (mounting point FOUR).

The AKARS is available now through www.BHIgear.com

Sneak Peek – Kryptek Pack Prototype

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

The prototypes just keep coming and coming. Here we see a pack made in Kryptek LEAF Highlander pattern, developed specifically for the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort and chosen as part of one of four finalists families of patterns to undergo live field trials soon. This pack is of a commercial design and will not be a part of that testing, but the pattern will.
