Warrior West – Bushnell Tactical

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

The new Lightweight Modular Spotting Scope (LMSS) from Bushnell Tactical is turning ears. It integrates a roof prism design as used on weapon scopes with 5x magnification ratio. Additionally, the 8-40x variable power allows you to dial down the magnification when used in conjunction with night vision devices to eliminate pixel inaction of the image.

It integrates a Horus 32 reticle and comes mounted to a Mil Std 1913 rail along with top and side mounted 1913 rail sections ( not shown) so you don’t have to purchase an after market cage. Finally, the LMSS integrates a camera lens adapter.

Warrior West – Skratch Labs

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

You’ve probably heard me talk about the concept of the Warrior Athlete, so anytime I run across a product that helps our guys live a more healthy lifestyle I want to share it. Kurt Smith of KAS Enterprises usually shows me cool climbing gear from Metolius and Sterling Rope as well as introducing me to boots from Salewa. But this time, he had something a little different.

Skratch Labs is a new hydration company from Boulder, Colorado created by three guys from the pro cycling community. They use all natural ingredients in order to help encourage hydration and replace those electrolytes lost during sweat. There’s no chemicals and the flavor isn’t overbearing. What’s more, the drink powders aren’t laden with calories. Mixed with 16 ounces of water, my bottle was only 80 calories and those came from cane sugar, not the refined stuff or worse yet, corn syrup. The pineapple was awesome and I also sampled some lemon lime. Both were smooth and didn’t leave an after taste. I’ll definitely be drinking more.

Warrior West – Spec Ops Brand

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

Spec Ops Brand has updated the venerable T.H.E. Pack. It’s been around for over 10 years and it was about time for an update. With a new moniker, Ultimate Assault Pack, the Original Tactical Holds Everything pack will still be offered for customers who want the same model they’ve been using for years but I like the enhancements.

For one thing, they’ve introduced a PALS compatible Grid-Lok panel to the outside accessory pocket. spec Ops Brand has also streamlined the sternum strap and made two major internal changes.

Thanks to a zippered compartment you can now insert and take out the frame sheet much easier. Additionally, the water bladder pocket has been moved to the main pack compartment, away from the wearer’s back so it won’t shift the load depending on how full the bladder is.
