Thursday, September 12th, 2013

Colubris

The Böker manufactured version of the American Kami Colubris is now available. Quantities are currently limited, although the supply should open up over the next several months. The blade on the Böker version is 440C vs the CPM S35VN of the original, each blade is individually numbered, and they come with a Kydex sheath.

To celebrate, American Kami is running a pass-around and giveaway for the new knife. To sign up:

1) Got to the American Kami Facebook page and “like.”

2) Message American Kami saying that you’d like to participate in the pass-around. You’ll be added to the list.

3) When you receive the knife, use it and carry it (use common sense please).

4) You will have seven days to evaluate the knife.

5) Write a quick review of your experiences with the knife. What you used if for, how you felt about it, etc. Reviews must include at least one picture.

6) Post your review and notify American Kami that you’ve done so with a link to it.

7) American Kami will give you the address of the next person in the queue.

8) You ship the knife to that person USPS priority insured.

9) If, when you receive the knife, it requires sharpening, notify American Kami and you will be provided with further instructions based on the situation.

10) When we have worked our way to the end of the pass-around list, American Kami will put a screaming sharp edge on the knife, and will hold a random drawing. Everyone who participated in the pass-around and posted a review with at least one picture will have a chance to win the knife, along with some other really cool swag.

WTFF – Did Someone’s Stupid Button Get Stuck?

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Over the past few days I’ve seen several “industry professionals” be anything but. I will not tolerate companies or individuals bashing one another. It really torques my head bolts that I have to regularly remind the collective readership that the Internet dehumanizes us and gives us this false sense that we can wild out and say any old crazy shit we want.

This behavior is unacceptable as a guest in my house; SSD. Address one another as you would if it was in person. That is the standard of behavior.

Cut the BS.

Your Chance To Be Heard Regarding Proposed NFA Rule Changes

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

20130910-180042.jpg

A few weeks ago, the Obama administration announced executive action that would drastically alter how applications for the transfer of NFA by trusts and corporations would be handled. We hosted a great guest article by Kel Whelan that gave us some insight. Now, as part of the process, the ATF is required to publish this proposed change in the Federal Register for public comment. They have done that and we have 90 days to comment.

-Go to www.federalregister.gov/articles/2013/09/09/2013-21661/machine-guns-destructive-devices-and-certain-other-firearms-background-checks-for-responsible.
-Read everything posted about the proposed changes
-Post your comments

I suggest you keep it civil, direct and to the point, and use proper grammar to be most effective.

DSEi – CTC Defense

The MVF-600 is a mil-spec (810-G) modular vertical foregrip. While a standard package consists of a visible or IR laser and 200 lumen light, they also offer modules that provide IR illumination as well as remote tape switching for other weapon accessories such as a PEQ.

As you can see, the modularity is effected by a simple throw lever system.

DSEi – Diamondhead

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Elite Defense showed me a set of polymer Back-Up Sights being introduced by Diamondhead.

20130911-123007.jpg

Based on their current sights, this new polymer model uses the same diamond-shaped aperture that the company was founded upon. However, unlike current models, the new polymer model is spring loaded allowing them to pop-up when selected for use. Also, rather than a plastic aperture, Diamondhead uses an aluminum aperture for a sharper sight picture. You may notice white markings on the sights. This is a photo luminescent material that is pressed into the material.

Additionally, the rear sight integrates two different apertures for near and far range and the sight can be stowed regardless of which aperture is in use. You can adjust the front sight with a simple-to-use barrel adjust, net and the rear sight is adjusted with a coin or screwdriver.
