Operator Assault Suit from SOD Gear

Thursday, October 31st, 2013

Offered by the Italian specialty clothing manufacturer SOD Gear, the Operating Assault Suit (translated from Italian) is made from 50/50 NYCO. Granted, it’s not an optimized solution but NYCO is generally regarded as a lower coat no melt-no drip option rather than a full FR solution. But this was originally designed for an Italian customer and reflects their requirements.

It also features an elasticized neck and wrists as well as 2 chest and 2 sleeve pockets. Thee are upper and lower flat pockets on each leg. The flat construction helps mitigate snags. The waist is also elasticized with belt loops as well. Finally, the knees and elbows are reinforced with Cordura and feature removable padding.

BCMGunfighter Vertical Grip

Thursday, October 31st, 2013

The BCMGunfighter™ Vertical Grip introduces a slight angle into the design. Available in 2 configurations: Full Size and Short, the grip can be installed with the angle sloping towards the muzzle or towards the shooter, thanks to the low profile spring-loaded rail attachment clamp. Each Vertical Grip is aggressively textured along flat sides to give better yaw control to the operator during firing and non-firing manipulations.

Additionally, the grips have internal storage via a water resistant hinged rubber gasket. Made in the USA and available now in Black, Flat Dark Earth and Foliage Green.

KOTA Longboards

Wednesday, October 30th, 2013

I know you saw the title of this post and started scratching your head. Trust me, it all fits together. First off, before I go any further, I want to say that KOTA Longboards is a Veteran owned business. Second, these guys are thrill seekers, just like you. Which leads to the heart of the matter; I know some of you guys ride longboards to keep a little bit of adrenalin in your downtime. Consequently, I thought I should tell all of you a little about KOTA Longboards, especially after I shared one of their videos last night in support of the CFF Indiegogo campaign.

Kota Longboards

KOTA Longboards was founded by a F-14 Tomcat pilot and TOPGUN graduate along with a Combat Wounded former Force Recon Marine in May 2012 with the mission to offer a broader action sports demographic, a high performance, sophisticated style longboard. They hand craft their decks in Denver, Colorado using Hard Rock Maple from Wisconsin. And their designs are awesome.

The culture of the company is honor, integrity and esprit de corps. Even the company name is related to the military. ‘KOTA’ comes from ‘Knights of the Air’ which is a WW I term for aviators. And this company is rife with aviators. So much so, even their legal disclaimer is borrowed from the U.S. Navy LSO School, ‘Rectum Non Bustus’ – which loosely translated means, ‘Don’t Bust Your Ass’. Ride hard, have fun, be safe.

In order to move the primary art surface to the top of the board, they’ve developed a proprietary clear, gloss grip finish that eliminates the need for any grip tape.

Notice I mentioned that the company was founded by Veterans? Well they remember where they came from. Veterans receive a 10% discount everyday.
