Newest Model to the SIRT Family Tree to be Introduced at 2014 SHOT Show

Ferndale, WA – NextLevel Training (NLT), manufacturer of firearms training products, has revolutionized the way shooters prepare with the SIRT Training Pistol, a dry-fire training pistol that emits a laser when breaking the auto-resetting trigger. New to the SIRT family for 2014, NLT is unveiling the SIRT 107 with functional features of the Smith & Wesson M&P at SHOT Show in Las Vegas.

Introduced at SHOT Show 2011, the original SIRT 110 Training Pistol, having functional features of a GLOCK 17, is a laser-based replica pistol that allows shooters, to improve their gun handling skills such as draws, sight alignment, trigger prep, follow-through, target transitions, reloads shooting on the move and other drills; all without incurring the prohibitive costs of ammunition and targets necessary for time spent at the range.

The new SIRT 107 Training Pistol model features several key upgrades designed to meet the demanding training requirements shown in testing. Users will notice the toggle switch has been moved from the slide to the frame and replaced with a 4-position switch. This upgrade will allow shooters to alternate among variable training modes: activate the prep laser, keeping the shot indication only mode and allowing the shooter to turn the laser off completely – acting as a true dry fire tool. The prep modes allow users to select the activation point of the prep laser at the initial movement of the trigger or delay it closer to the reset for different training scenarios.

Internally the trigger housing has been replaced and upgraded to further increase the SIRTs ability to take rigorous defensive tactics training abuse. The trigger adjustment system has also been simplified to allow for a single-sear tension and break force adjustment, using the same tool that is used on the laser windage and elevation adjustment.

Users will find that the overall system of the new SIRT 107 model was designed with a modular approach to further increase quality, reliability and system flexibility. And as with all SIRT products, the SIRT 107 Training Pistol is also wallet-friendly.

“NLT’s dedication to proper firearms training has made the SIRT line of products the chosen firearm training device for many Law Enforcement and government agencies around the world.” said NextLevel Training Founder and CEO, Mike Hughes. “The new 107 model is just another step in NLT’s commitment to producing the best and most versatile firearm training devices for U.S. Law Enforcement, Military and the law-abiding citizen.”

Introducing the FLIR ONE

Saturday, January 11th, 2014

FLIRONE_ViewD

The FLIR ONE is a case for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S that offers FLIR’s thermal imaging technology in a smartphone-sized package. It has a scene range temperature of 32°F-212°F (O°C-100°C), an operating temperature of 32°F-113 °F (O°C-45°C), and is able to detect temperature differences as small as 0.18 °F (0.1°C). The FLIR ONE utilizes a dual camera set up to achieve thermal function. The core is a FLIR Lepton thermal camera. The visible camera is VGA. This allows for FLIR MSX blending via the app which generates and overlays outlines to help the user identify what they’re looking at.

FLIRONE_PersonalSafety

The FLIR ONE’s companion app – FLIR ONE MX – provides a simple and intuitive user interface that makes it easy to collect and share thermal images. It can load captured images directly to the camera roll and allows users to easily share on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, along with other features.

The FLIR ONE houses its own battery source, good for more than 2 hours of continuous use. It can also boost the battery life of the iPhone5 and 5S by up to 50 percent.

The FLIR ONE will be available starting Spring 2014. The FLIR ONE for select Android models will be available later in 2014. It will be available in three colors: Space Grey, White, and Gold.

One Of The Many Reasons You Should Support The Green Beret Foundation

Saturday, January 11th, 2014

This video is part of the Green Beret Foundation’s “Everyday Heroes in the Special Forces Community” video series about Green Berets and their family members. The videos share the story of these heroes’ military service and their work in their communities as they come home from war.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting SFC( Ret) Michael R Rodriguez who spent 21 years in the US Army, 15 of which were with Special Forces. He has had numerous combat deployments throughout his career, including Somalia, Afghanistan, and Haiti, as well as Central and South America. He served as an 18D, Special Forces Medic, as well as a Sniper Instructor at the Special Forces Sniper Course. Since retiring, Michael has focused his time on his three sons and his work as a blacksmith. Two of his knives have been auctioned off to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation, and he hopes to do more in the future to contribute to the foundation. Michael has also set a goal to climb the “Seven Summits” and has already climbed Mount Kilimanjaro where he conducted the first ever research on the effects of altitude and elevation on traumatic brain injury, and as a result was inducted into the famed Explorers Club as a Fellow.

I exchanged a few messages with Rodriguez prior to SHOT Show and he told me he will at the show representing the Green beret Foundation. He told me that they’ve done a lot for him and he wants to do everything to help give back.

Nike to Introduce SFB2

Saturday, January 11th, 2014

According to a photo posted by Airsoft Outlet Northwest, which is right down the road from the Nike campus, Nike will be introducing the SFB2 on 31 January.

20140110-212152.jpg

I can see a few differences from the current SFB which has been around since 2008. For instance, the sole has been changed from the FREE-style sole. Additionally, the upper loses the classic Jungle Boot styling and forgoes the metal lace holes for fabric lace barrels on the top of the foot.
