ALG Defense – Ergonomic Modular Rail (EMR) System First Look – Updated

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

EMR-2

AGL Defense will be introducing the Ergonomic Modular Rail (EMR) system at SHOT Show 2014. The EMR was developed as a lightweight, ergonomic, and modular option for all mil-spec AR-15 rifles.

The EMR forgoes M1913 rails and instead utilizes easy to install accessory rails that are 3D machined to fit the contour of the EMR. These rails can be secured at both the 45 and 90 degree quadrants, making them ideal for users that need to mount their sights, lights, or lasers at an offset angle. The rails are secured to the EMR via steel slide nuts that can be replaced if lost or damaged by cross threading. The EMR also features integrated quick disconnect (QD) swivel attachment points, further reducing the overall weight of the system.

The EMR is machined from aircraft grade aluminum. It is mounted to the upper receiver via a 2.25″ barrel nut also machined from aircraft grade aluminum and hard coat anodized for a durable surface. The EMR also includes a proprietary ALG EMR barrel nut wrench. The rail secures to the barrel nut via 6 mounting bolts which also allow for easy removal and reattachment.

The EMR will be available in 10″, 12″, and 13″ lengths. It will be initially introduced with Black anodizing, however Grey will also be an option.

Update: We received this info from ALG Defense. Because the EMR was designed to be a lightweight system, there are currently no plans to make available a continuous top rail. The Geissele SMR MK series of rails would be the best option for individuals that would like to add a DBAL, laser, or top mounted lights.

10” 6.56oz (by itself)
12” 7.84oz (by itself)
Barrel nut + Screws: 2.4oz
ACCY rail weight is .81oz. (including screws and slide nuts) each

Lucky Gunner Reviews the PCP Polymer Case in .308 Win

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

Information on PCP Ammunition’s polymer case .308 Winchester cartridge has been pretty limited, much like their initial production run. However, Lucky Gunner managed to get a hold of 5 boxes/100 rounds and posted a quick review of their initial findings regarding the new cartridge, including price, accuracy, reliability when loaded into several different models of rifle, and potential for reloading. Their coverage also includes an interview with Tony Padgett from PCP Ammunition. Check out their review if you’re curious about this new ammunition, and you can also sign up for PCP’s mailing list regarding their January 2014 civilian production lot if you’re looking to get some for yourself.

Sneak peek – Adams Ind HDNVG

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

Here are two pictures taken through night vision on a moonless cloudy night. The one on the left is regular night vision. The one on the right is through Adams Industries HDNVG.

Adams Ind NVGAdams Ind HDNVG

In normal night vision you can see that there’s a car parked in the driveway.

With HDNVG you see:
• Some of the areas you thought were street are actually grass.
• There is a tree behind the car that could provide concealment.
• There is a power pole behind the house.

Oh, and the car’s not parked in a driveway; it’s parked on the grass
