Happy 10th Anniversary to RMJ Tactical

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

IMG_0788.JPG
Eleven years ago, on a Wednesday, Ryan Johnson called Richard Carmack letting him know that there was a jet at the local airport waiting on 18 Eagle Talon tactical tomahawks intended for a group of Marines that were preparing for a major military push. Ryan knew that Richard’s sons, Jonathan (14) and Reid (12) were home schooled and could possibly be available to help. Homeschooling is a wonderful thing and this type of activity would count as school work. Richard gave the OK and early that afternoon, Ryan showed up at Richard’s house with 18 tomahawks, yards of paracord, pizza, Mountain Dew and several Monty Python movies.
Ryan and the boys then worked through the night cord wrapping the tomahawks so Ryan could deliver them to the jet the following morning. That episode started the conversation between Ryan and Richard about forming a company that would increase Ryan’s ability to produce his tactical tomahawks for the military personnel that were in need of them.
Plans were then made and the correct paperwork was filled out and filed in order for the company to launch. On January 2, 2005, RMJ Tactical, LLC officially began. Operating first out of Ryan’s shop for production and Richard’s office for everything administrative, RMJ Tactical started its transition from a garage based custom tomahawk shop to the manufacturing company it is today. We are proud to say that January 2, 2015 marks the first full decade of RMJ Tactical being up and running. We only expect bigger and better things for this company in 2015. Happy New Years to all of you!

H&K G41C – One of the Coolest Guns Never Made

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

IMG_0782.JPG

Brought to life by TSC Machine, the H&K G41C is a never produced Carbine variant of the G41. The 5.56mm rifle was introduced by H&K in 1981 as a replacement for the HK 33 but dropped from the H&K lineup in 1996 primarily as I understand it, because the planned replacement of the Bundeswehr’s G3s with G41s never came to fruition due to costs associated with the reunification of Germany. A couple of design features you may find interesting are the forward assist and dust cover as well as the use of STANAG M16 magazines. Additionally, the original G41 had a wire carrying handle like the FN FAL and used the classic H&K roller delayed blowback system.

This home brew Carbine model is TSC Machine’s concept of what a G41C would look like if it were produced today, even down to the Tan color.

The weapon was however, built by H&K in a K configuration. Although, I’ve got to say, this doesn’t exactly look Kurz to me it was purportedly spoked to stand for Karabiner. Later, H&K standardized the C suffix for carbine.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – New FS Strandhögg Front Panels

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

In this week’s FirstSpear Friday Focus we are going to take a look at the new replacement front panels for the popular Strandhögg Plate Carrier which make it even more customizable than before. It’s important to mention right up front that there are two variants of the Strandhögg Plate Carrier; MBAV cut and SAPI cut. There are two new Front Panels so it’s important that you not only specify which style of Front Panel you want but also which type of armor you are using.

In addition to attaching via patented Tubes connectors, both styles continue to offer the same padding and ventilation features of the standard Strandhögg Plate Carrier. The photo below gives you a side view.

Built with the same padding and ventilation features found in its modular brother this front panel features sewn on pockets accommodating 3 single 30 round magazines for the AK47 or 74 series rifles, secured with elastic cord and FS Speed Tabs. A 6/12 modular pocket attachment field is found above the magazines for utilizing 6/12, 6/9 or MOLLE style pockets. 2015 Means Two Goals for SSD

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

I don’t normally share our plans because sometimes they don’t always come to fruition but we’ve got two projects that have sat in the back burner for entirely too long. It’s high time we implemented them.

The first is Soldier Systems Digest, a weekly email-based newsletter. You’ll finally be able to actually subscribe to SSD.

The second project that has been in development hell for the past several years is sales.soldiersystems.net. The concept is that all sale / discount announcements will go to a central location in a new sub domain on SSD.

What are your goals for 2015?
