Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Federal Resources revealed their new Live Operations Platform for Hazardous Material and CBRNE response during the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) – International Hazardous Materials Response Teams Conference in Baltimore MD on May 28 2015. This highly adaptive data-driven platform is a breakthrough in supporting those who protect us all.

Baltimore MD May 28, 2015 – Exposure to hazardous chemicals is one of the most serious threats facing Americans today. On a daily basis across the United States, we are protected from releases, spills, and reactions by those in our military and emergency services.

Managing large-scale operations and unexpected events using traditional software, spreadsheets, white-boards, and paper can prove to be exceptionally difficult when compiling all information for both situational awareness and post-action documentation. It’s critical to have “The Right Information When Things Go Wrong”.

On May 28th, 2015 in Baltimore, at the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) – International Hazardous Materials Response Teams Conference, Federal Resources revealed their new Live Operations Platform for Hazardous Material and CBRNE response. Commenting on the announcement, Chris Waier, Director of Training at Federal Resources said, “We’ve achieved this in partnership with D4H Technologies, producers of the #1 information management software for emergencies and incidents worldwide.”

Federal Resources are the industry leader in providing innovative and technologically advanced military and first responder equipment & solutions. Built for HAZMAT and CBRNE scenarios, this breakthrough adds a data-driven information management platform designed to specifically support those who protect us all. “You need to make decisions that will withstand second-guessing, cross-examination, testimonies, hearings, media-spin, and investigations”, explains Robin Blandford, CEO of D4H Technologies.

“If you can demonstrate you had all the information available to your organization at the time, you can defend your decision.” states Blandford. D4H Technologies’ solutions are deployed in more than 16 countries, driving over 15 million hours of efficiencies within public-safety, industrial facilities, and corporate crises.

    Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Dynamis Alliance is holding its first ever Freedive and Fight event in Wilmington, North Carolina. The event consists of a Level 1 Freediver course taught by Freediving Level II Instructor Alex Llinas, and a Combative Pistol 1 course taught by Dom Raso. Freedive and Fight is taking place June 16th – 21st.

    Level 1 Freediver

    June 16: 1700-2100, 17: 0800-1200, 18: 0700-1600

This highly effective course covers everything from safety & problem management, breathing techniques & equipment selection to correct freediving methods for gradual depth progression. It provides new divers with a solid foundation to freedive confidently and safely up to depths of 66 feet/20 meters with breathholds up to 3 minutes. For divers already achieving these depths, it will provide an enhanced understanding of the sport and new techniques to dive more effectively and, most importantly, more safely. This program includes academic presentations, confined water training and one open water session.

    Combative Pistol 1

    June 19: 1830-2030, 20&21: 0900-1700

This course will teach you the skills required to fight inside “spitting distance,” where most altercations occur. We will teach you simple, yet brutally effective, unarmed combative skills designed to counter common attacks. We will also incorporate the handgun in these situations. To test your skills, we will put you through realistic scenario training using marking cartridges. This is NOT a typical shooting course and will be physically demanding. This is the only way to ensure that your skills will work when your life depends on it.

Sneak Peek – Mystery Ranch PowerBuckle

    Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

During a visit over the weekend to Mystery Ranch in Bozeman, Montana, founder Dana Gleason gave me a quick look at a new technical development. Dubbed the PowerBuckle, it offers the same functionality and stength of a standard side-release buckle, but with the added utility of use as a databus.

Essentially, it buries a data cable in a National Molding buckle such as the quad release buckle used on the IOTV. While it is still a prototype, it is a Mystery Ranch exclusive.

Due to the buckle’s architecture, they can embed between two and 16 conductors.  This one is set up as a USB and features four conductors. You’ll notice an access plate at the rear of the female portion of the buckle. This will only be present on the first thousand or so. Once users begin to integrate the PowerBuckle, they’ll be built to spec and there will be no need to access the circuitry in order to configure the circuits because each will be purpose built for the task. Dana went on the explain, “You may also notice that this isn’t waterproof. It’s a prototype and the production versions will be.”

Regarding the buckle, Dana related, “We saw a clear need for this technology, so we developed it. There were guys with cutaway vests getting hung up by comms cabling and we wanted a way for the gear to cutaway completely and safely.” He went on, “National Molding is our manufacturer. If anyone else is interested in using the PowerBuckle, you know where to find us.”

    Patent pending.
