Young shooter Kolby Pavlock was able to secure a World Champion title while at the Rimfire Challenge event. “Kolby is a shining example of why we (as an industry) must invest in these young ambassadors. They will be the next generation of stewards for our sport, our industry, and our voice. Team Breakthrough Clean is proud of Kolby’s achievements, and his most recent World Championship win. We look forward to seeing what Kolby will do next.” says Gabriel Cabrera, Marketing Director for Breakthrough Clean Technologies.

Breakthrough Clean Technologies also partnered with the NSSF to become a title sponsor for the NSSF Rimfire Challenge World Championship. This ensured that every shooter knew the benefits of what true forward thinking cleaning technology has to offer.

USMC Snipers Select Mystery Ranch Packs

Marine Corps Systems Command selects Mystery Ranch by way of DLA’s Tailored Logistic Support Program to provide the Overload pack

MYSTERY RANCH has been selected by Marine Corps Systems Command to provide their Overload pack for the Scout Snipers. The Overload pack is a unique carry system designed to securely transport all manner of crew-served weapons. Based on the carbon-fiber NICE frame, the pack folds away from the frame allowing weapons, etc to be attached close to the user’s back. Weapons are secured cross-carry, which allows for protection of a weapon’s optic while being transported and also helps conceal the sniper’s rifle from observation. Additionally, the pack can extend further to transport mortars, Pelican cases, ammo cans or larger gear.

“It’s great to see this come full circle for the Overload pack –its design began with the Scout Snipers. I’m proud that we’re able to help them be more combat effective.” said Kent Orms, Director of Gov’t Programs for MYSTERY RANCH.

The MYSTERY RANCH Overload has previous success with the Marine Corps; it and the 3-Day Assault pack have been the main issue packs for MARSOC since 2013.

High Angle Solutions – CTOMS – TRACE System Training

TRACE_Training_Screenshot_6

When we first development TRACE Systems we realized that if traditional rigging rules were applied, it could create unsafe conditions. For example, if you tie a knot in a rope that’s been cycled 100 times, the strength reduction of the rope comes quite close to the load limiting slip force of a wet well used rope, risking catastrophic failure should dynamic force be applied to it. There is a rule with TRACE Systems of no knots (with certain exceptions), however this is contrary to common rigging practices.

Additionally, TRACE Systems is not cheap, and because of that, we feared that in an effort to try to save money, some end users may try to use different rope, even 6mm accessory cord in the devices. Testing has proven catastrophic failures at very low forces with alternate ropes (see: privatebloggins.ca).

We had to come up with a means to provide training to end users of the kits that was accessible and cost effective.

Using our online Learning Management System (LMS), we built a course that is accessible anywhere you have an internet connection. Access to the course now comes with the purchase of every TRACE Systems Kit that contains a QD and rope.

TRACE_Training_Screenshot_2

This basic online course allows the end user to work through and learn the safe basic use of TRACE Systems at their own time and pace.

The online course covers a basic physics review, the differences in traditional and TRACE Systems, in depth details about the rope and devices, including inspecting them for serviceability, testing videos including with third party components and sharp edge falls, and instructions on how to rappel, ascend, lower and haul.

CTOMS is currently working on 3 advanced modules: Alpine, Climbing and Rescue which will require mandatory practical training from CTOMS or one of their Authorized TRACE Systems Training Providers to follow the online content.

Combat Flip Flops Raises Awareness For Veteran Suicide With #22ADAYCHALLENGE

Combat Flip Flops Raises Awareness for Veteran Suicide with #22ADAYCHALLENGE

Twenty-two veterans commit suicide everyday. For the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country, one is too many, let alone twenty-two. In an effort to elevate the social conversation around veteran suicide, while also de-stigmatizing PTSD, and reframing the benefits of yoga and meditation, Combat Flip Flops and nearly 20 other veteran and non-veteran owned businesses are joining MalaforVets’ #22adaychallenge.

MalaforVets was established in 2012 by Air Force veteran, Defense Information School instructor, and combat correspondent Chris Eder. Chris began practicing yoga in 1999 and started teaching in 2007. Through yoga, Chris found enormous benefits to his mental, spiritual, and physical capabilities and has made it his mission to share these experiences with other veterans. He teaches several yoga classes each week and offers free classes to vets using the Mindful Yoga Therapy principals.

The goal of the #22adaychallenge is to raise awareness and funds for Save A Warrior and Mindful Yoga Therapy. Participants are encouraged to post an image on Instagram of them doing the daily pose with the #22adaychallenge hashtag. Each day, a random person participating will be selected to win a prize from one of the veteran-owned sponsors. The campaign will run Nov. 1-22, 2015.

“Post military, I had a hard time staying in shape because I wasn’t being paid to work out every day,” said Matthew ‘Griff’ Griffin, former Ranger and CEO/Co-Founder of Combat Flip Flops. “After a motorcycle accident, I was introduced to yoga as a non-impact, balanced form of recovery. It has since been a core part of my workout program because it travels well, provides mental breaks, and a stellar workout. When Chris contacted Combat Flip Flops regarding participation in the #22aDayChallenge, we thought it would be a great way to bring together the local community, introduce veterans to yoga, and create bonds through communal suffering.”

During the challenge, Combat Flip Flops will be sponsoring daily free yoga classes for veterans with veteran-owned, Uphill Running in Issaquah, WA. Non-veterans and family members are welcome to participate with a donation to Save A Warrior Foundation, Mindful Yoga Therapy Foundation, or The Station Foundation.

Additional yoga studios across the country participating include:

  • Whole Yoga , Odenton, MD. FREE yoga for Vets Nov. 8-14. Whole Yoga will also be hosting 2 donation yoga for vet classes on November 1st and November 15th.
  • The Studio Cooperative , Waldorf, MD. FREE yoga for veterans on XX. The Studio Cooperative will also be collecting donations for Save A Warrior and Mindful Yoga Therapy from Nov. 1-22.
  • The Mind and Body Studio, Brielle, NJ. 30 days of FREE yoga for veterans during the month of November. The Mind and Body Studio will also be hosting 4 donation classes during the challenge.
  • Inner State Yoga, St. Petersburg, Florida. FREE yoga for veterans Nov 1-22.
  • Current veteran-owned sponsors include Combat Flip Flops, Nine Line Apparel, Malaforvets, Free Meditation Bench, Buddhist Boot Camp, Webers Wood Creation, 22 Veterans Apparel, Blooming Lotus, Heather’s Treasures, Knot Geek, Cordium Clothing, Yoga Joes, The Sox Box, Fractal 9, and Yoga Warrior Renew. Applied Ballistics Announces Two New Books

    Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

Cedar Springs, MI – October 19, 2015 – This fall, Applied Ballistics is proud to announce the release of two new editions of their library of popular books; Applied Ballistics For Long Range Shooting – 3rd Edition, and Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets – 2nd Edition.

Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting is the flagship title of Applied Ballistics’ technical library, and the latest edition brings readers content on Weapon Employment Zone (WEZ) analysis (the study of hit percentage, and how it’s affected by the uncertainties in your environment). As is expected with all of Applied Ballistics’ findings, existing academic material is augmented throughout the book, with modern experimental findings. The third edition also includes the most updated version of the ballistic software on CD. This most recent installment of this title does not include the library of bullet data, as it has outgrown an appendix, and now exists as a separate reference book: Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets.

Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets contains the current library of all modern bullets tested by the Applied Ballistics Laboratory. Expanding on the first edition of this title, which had data on 400 bullets from .22 to .408 caliber, this second edition contains data on 533 bullets from .22 thru .50 caliber. In addition to the centerfire bullet data, this latest installment includes live fire data on 90 types of rimfire ammo which were all tested for muzzle velocity and BC thru 5 different barrels of various twist and length configurations. This library of experimental test data is the most extensive and accurate resource ever assembled for small arms bullets. Numerous modern ballistics solvers and programs draw from the library of tested BC’s that are published in this book.

    Applied Ballistics

Retail price is $54.95 for each title, or $94.95 if purchased together. Pre-orders are currently being accepted at an additional $5 discount thru the Applied Ballistics store and will ship by second week of December.
