The A-10 Using The German Autobahn As An Airstrip

The A-10 was designed to fight a war we fortunately never had to fight. Built to kill Warsaw Pact tanks as they poured across the Inter-German Border, the units that flew the Warthog developed plans to operate from makeshift FAARPs set up along the Autobahn in case their bases were destroyed by NBC attacks.

Yesterday, four A-10s from the 127th Wing, Michigan Air National Guard, performed highway landing practice in Estonia, as part of NATO Exercise Saber Strike 16. This is the first time this tactic has been practice since 1984.

Sneak Peek – 221B Tactical Maxx-Dri Plate Carrier

Safariland – Bark-9 Armor

The Bark-9 is an armor carrier from Safarilamd’s Protech line. In addition to MR01 protection, this adjustable carrier offers a restraint handle with two D-rings for leash attachment, two plate pockets and two ID attachment platforms for identification.  The carrier is made from 1000d Cordura exterior with 420D Diamond lining for comfort and offers a spine extension insert.

The carrier is offered in four sizes (S-XL) and has Protech Tactical NIJ-06 MR01 and XT03 Type II & IIIA armor inserts available.

ITS Tactical – Waterproof Matches

These strike anywhere matches feature a special wax coating which runs nearly halfway down each match and keeps the fire-starting chemicals dry. Once lit, nothing stops these matches, be it wind, rain or even snow. They’ll even re-ignite after being submerged in water or snow.
