This mini catalog features over 75 National Stock Numbers of items which ADS supports via the Tailored Logistics Solutions contract. Through this program the Defense Logistics Agency and by extension Defense Supply Center Philadelphia rely on commercial vendors to support the standard stock system. This alleviates the need for DLA to stockpile many items.

When we saw the Bluewater Defense line of sleep systems we were puzzled as to where they came from. Now we know.
Bluewater Defense, Inc. recently announced a new brand name, new leadership, and an enhanced commitment to defense manufacturing work with their industry partners. The company, formerly known as DJ Manufacturing, Corp., will expand on their longtime experience as a prime contractor and subcontractor in the precision and specialized sewing industry for the Department of Defense (DoD) while adding new capabilities for custom production, expedited turnaround time and a new focus on research and development.
Bluewater Defense is headquartered in San Lorenzo with additional locations in Cidra, Corozal and Yabucoa, and employs 1500 highly trained garment manufacturers. All existing DJ Manufacturing, Corp. contracts are being transitioned to the new Bluewater Defense brand and all new contracts have been secured under the new brand name. Additionally, the company has significantly upgraded their facilities and made substantial investments in highly advanced garment forming equipment.
A worldwide leader in the precision needle working and manufacturing industry, Bluewater Defense is known for their mass production capabilities and is currently producing a wide variety of protective clothing, uniforms and individual equipment for the DoD, including the GEN III Layer 7 Extended Cold Weather Clothing System Parka and Trousers, the Army Combat Uniform Coat and Trousers, the Fire Resistant Army Combat Uniform, Improved Outer Tactical Vests and Hard Plate Carriers.

Eric Spackey has assumed the role of CEO/President and he has assembled his new management team which includes: Max Weinstein as the Chief Operating Officer; Sharon Birk as the Vice President of Business Development; Olga Bonnin as the Vice President of Finance; and Aida Mendez as the Vice President of Human Resources. The entire team at Bluewater Defense is looking forward to continuing to craft the high-quality products that are essential to the warfighter.

For those of you that missed the Warrior Expo East presented by ADS, the video will give you an idea of what it was like. The event was simply fantastic. You have already seen a few of the surprises that were unveiled at the show and we can assure you that more are on their way, including a major announcement from ADS. Additionally, are looking forward to introducing our readers to new subjects such as Maintenance and Recovery Operations.
We spoke with most of the vendors and the general feeling was very positive. While some related that it could be months before they see any orders based on the meetings they had at the show, everyone agreed that they would see an increase in business.
On the other hand, attendees were very positive about not only the access to the latest technologies and equipment but also the seminars and demonstrations that were part of the program. The real key to this success is that these events combine users with requirements with vendors who provide a variety of solutions. Add to this ADS’s access to several procurement vehicles and you’ve got the trifecta. It’s hard to get all of these ingredients together and they have succeeded.

At the recent Warrior Expo – East NEMO Equipment had quite a few new wares on display. In addition to the ZIRO 2P SE Shelter, they also displayed the EMFX pouch. Sure, it looks like a mild mannered pouch made from 210D Ripstiop Nylon with a tough Hypalon belt loop. But don’t judge this pouch by its looks. The real power is inside. Using a conductive textile the EMFX pouch blocks all electromagnetic signals from reaching your cell phone. This means your phone won’t be tracked or attacked by adversaries. It has been over two years since we wrote about the Flipfin product from Omega Aquatics. Since then they have attracted the attention of military divers and swimmers and have developed the Stealth model specifically for this community. We were fortunate to check out this new model last week at the Warrior Expo – East. They still do the same job, propulsion in the water with the blade down but accommodate mobility when dry or moving through surf with the blades in the up position. The big difference is that this model was designed specifically for military use and features a large foot pocket for boots as well as being neutrally buoyant.

The Hybrid Deployment Bag from Force Protector Gear is a coffin style duffel designed specifically for commercial air travel. At over 9200 cubic inches it features numerous pockets to compartmentalize gear and includes a soft frame system to give the bag body. The Powerheart AED G3 Plus from Cardiac Science is an automated defibrillator designed for use by untrained personnel. It features RescueCoach and a CPR metronome to pace chest compressions. Additionally, the on-board Rescue Ready technology self-checks all main AED components (battery, hardware, software, and pads) daily.
