US Marine Corps Designates B.E. Meyers & Co.’s GLARE RECOIL as the LA-22/U

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is pleased to announce that the U.S. Marine Corps has designated their GLARE RECOIL™ non-lethal Hail and Warning device the official Joint Electronic Type Designation System (JETDS) identifier LA-22/U with an NSN of 5860-01-657-3893, as part of the Ocular Interrupter System (OIS) program.

IMG_4568

The LA-22/U is an internally funded and developed 250mW maximum output green laser dazzler. In February of 2016, it was selected by the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) to replace the GLARE MOUT 532P-M or “MiniGreen”, and GBDIIIC W/SCM (LA-9/P), and provide an advanced non-lethal Escalation of Force solution for Hail and Warning combat applications on land and sea. The LA-22/U is currently in production and being delivered by B.E. Meyers & Co., the sole source provider to MARCORSYSCOM for the $49M IDIQ Ocular Interruption System (OIS) program, contract number M67854-14-D-1040.

Fitted with B.E. Meyers’ groundbreaking and patented SmartRange™ technology, the GLARE RECOIL™ integrates laser range finding, near-field detection, and a 3-axis gyroscope into the unit’s safety controls. This technology allows it to detect objects/persons entering the proximity of the beam, and self-regulates the power output to maintain controlled EyeSafe™ Class 2M irradiance while ensuring maximum permissible exposure on target.

IMG_4569

The GLARE RECOIL™ also features a motorized zoom for variable beam divergence and a pulse mode for optimal effect. It can be mounted onto any existing weapon system with a MIL-STD-1913 rail mount, can be employed in a handheld-only configuration, or integrated into existing Remote Weapon System platforms.

Additionally, the GLARE HELIOS™ is the Class 1M variant of the LA-22/U (GLARE RECOIL™), and is only green laser Hail and Warning system certified by the FDA for use by Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement agencies.

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

Safariland’s TCI boasts an acoustic lab where they can replicate and work to mitiagte those sounds which threaten the hearing of military, law enforcement, other ar ed professionals and recreational shooters alike.

“There’s a few different ways we can use our equipment to confirm a reading, and we use it for both R&D and production, and getting certifications,” says Brad Medine, Category Director for TCI.

Additionally, they can record sounds created dueing ballistic testing and use those as samples for their work. This video gave you a quick overview of their efforts.

Darley Safe Water Box

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

Darley Defense showed me their Safe Water Box.  The water is vacuum filled in a flexible bag, creating a barrier to oxygen and aroma, and placed in an outer board box protecting from light and air during the entire storage period, thus avoiding risk of bacterial contamination. This one-way packaging is compliant with hygienic requirements and makes packaged water affordable in a sustainable format. The bag and box are completely recyclable. Additionally, there is a tamper evident strip for food security.

IMG_4553

The 82nd Airborne is using this during water resupply efforts during their training exercises at Fort Bragg and Fort Polk. Interstingly, they claim this is is cheaper and more effective to distribute to deployed forces than using the reusable 5 gallon jerry cans. For example, it can be configured as a CDs bundle.  The cost to the 82nd Airborne is 50% cheaper than their previous water solution.

The Red Cross and FEMA are deploying this technology to hurricane stricken areas. They have 26 pallets of water going Puerto Rico this week. The Red Cross likes this bag in box packaging because one box can be given to a family and it can be easily utilized for drinking, cooking, hygiene. This is also significant because the long-term environmental footprint is substantially less compared to bottled water.
