It seems like just the other day that McNett announced the addition of two new camo patterns to their lineup of Camo Form® Protective Camouflage Wrap. No sooner than we tell you about it and they inform us that they will now also offer MultiCam. This is great news for guys using OCP downrange.
Apparently, The Sportsman’s Guide bought out the A-TACS run of the EOTAC Direct Action Recce Smock and Pants as well as A-TACS versions of the Operator Pant and Shirt. Before Remington pulled the plug on the EOTAC brand they placed orders with their factories for a run of their smock and pants in the A-TACS pattern. Still no word on of the combat shorts were ever actually manufactured. The garments are a ripstop cotton blend and feature pattern matched elbow and knee reinforcements.

This is officially my favorite Soldier Modernization briefing of ALL time. From the organization named Diggerworks, to the title of the briefing, this is just great. It also gives us some great glimpses into the Australian Defence Force’s fielding of the Enhanced Soldier Combat Ensemble in MultiCam.
Diggerworks is a “virtual organisation comprising agencies involved in soldier combat systems (SCS).” And, it is important to note that, “Diggerworks is not Land 125 rebadged.” This means they aren’t giving the program a spiffy new name but rather adding value by including more stake holders in the discussion.
Their mission is simple –
“Diggerworks is to identify options and deliver integrated soldier combat systems solutions in order to enhance the capability of the warfighter”
Moreover, they are working on Adaptive Acquisition which is something we’d like to see more of here in the US.

– “Buy less more often”
– Enable change to happen quicker
– No longer is everyone to be equipped the same
– The close combatant is to be treated differently

Since it looks like PEO Soldier programs are on the chopping block, we thought this photo would be a great reminder to all as to why there is a Army Camouflage Improvement Effort. All we see these days are photos out of Afghanistan with Soldiers sporting the effective OCP. Don’t forget, it’s a big world out there and in most of it, UCP is still the uniform of the day.

Pre-orders will begin to ship Wednesday July 27 with all pre-orders expected to be shipped by next Friday, August 5. Once the pre-orders are shipped out and they’ve been able to deal with any size issues, they’ll open the site for sales for a limited time in late August to early September.
There are actually 17 patterns in Series 2 but two cannot be shown here. According to a statement from Guy Cramer of Hyperstealth, “The 17 color schemes are the most ever done for a commercial order or even a country order (that we are aware of), add the three other patterns we didn’t run from S1 (Urban, Tropical and Forest [Forest was licensed to Afghanistan]) and the Sierra pattern for the ANCOP and that puts the total Spec4ce color schemes that have gone into production at 21.”
Here you can see the pocket layout for their uniforms. Every Jacket has one of their Patented Passive Negative Ion Generators embedded in the collar. Additionally, every Ball Cap has the generator embedded into the underside of the brim of the cap. While I remain skeptical about Negative Ion Generators, a few people I trust are convinced. I do wish Hyperstealth had dispensed with the button on the top of the ballcaps and replaced it with Velcro. At this point, that is the industry standard for a “tactical” cap.

While not definitive, it gives you an idea of what it will look like out in the wild. Offered by COBBS Industries, the garments are manufactured by NFM who used the design of their Combat Jacket from the GARM line. We are HUGE fans of the NFM stuff, some of which will be brought into the US this fall by FirstSpear. Add in fabric provided by TenCate and you have to consider how exciting it is to see so many European companies working together to make this happen.
