Prometheus Design Werx – Raider Field Pant

New for 2018, San Francisco based specialty adventure products company Prometheus Design Werx debuts their Raider Field Pant 5050RS. Built as a rugged field pant, this style is a non-cargo design in a clean utility appearance, built for the outdoors and today’s active EDC user in mind.

A total of 11 pockets to stash and organize as little or as many EDC items as needed. The tried and true US MILSPEC 5050 NYCO ripstop fabric is durable and breathes without weighing the user down. Dedicated EDC Tool Pockets, dual no-twist custom made delta rings for keychain-carabiner clip points, 4 welt pockets and double layer articulated reinforced knees round out these pant’s features. Produced with industrial grade triple needle stitching on all major seams. Designed, cut and sewn in California, USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We designed and created a versatile and easily worn field pant style, that would be at home in the 4×4, trail, range, workshop and to the pub. The 5050 NYCO rip stop it’s built in has been a favored fabric that our Chief Designer has used for almost 18 years now. It’s almost a perfect everyday weight in variety of conditions, breathes well and holds up in the wilderness to the street. Our feature set is becoming more familiar now to our customers and suits today’s smart, well equipped back country EDCer. Dialed more towards outdoor use than our EDC Pant, the Raider drew its inspriation from vintage military dungarees and utilities. We reimagined what something like that might look today. The horizontal hand pockets in this design clears pack, to work, to 1st line type belts. While this run is in the 5050 NYCO rip stop, we plan on offerin this same style in a few different fabrics. This pant is current the PDW Staff favorite at work and in the field.”

The Raider Field Pant 5050RS will be an evergreen seasonal style for Prometheus Design Werx. They will be available in Dark Arid Earth, Machine Mineral Gray and Dark Leaf Green.

2018 Magpul Clothing Redux

For 2018, Magpul has completely replaced their entire line of clothing. This new Every Day Clothing line is tighter than previous versions with just four shirts (long and short sleeve) and a pant. A couple of other pieces will follow in the Spring.

The first question everyone asks when they hear about Magpul clothing is, “why?” Magpul’s David Kramer explained it well, “It’s a natural extension of our firearms business, that we would build clothing that our community would be stoked to wear. Clothes that can be used for EDC, travel, road trips, and hard use. We build it to stand up to life.”

I wanted to know more. Why start over from scratch? I was told, “There are a variety of brands offering good options but often missing the mark in the sense of either representing our values, having the right features or even the right look. Many brands speak to a left leaning audience while other brands focus heavily on tactical where there was no one looking at the people who believe the Second Amendment in embedded into their daily lives. We need something for us, so we did something about it.” Granted, Magpul’s goal is to offer a quality apparel at a fair price, but this new take on clothing seems to spring from a deeper passion.

Like their earlier clothing, this is not made in the USA. Not at these prices. But, they are well made, hard wearing and good looking. I’ve seen samples. You’ll find iconic styles, with modern materials. Here’s a sneak peek, to whet your appetite.

Unity Tactical Cold Weather Liner

The Cold Weather Liner was designed to provide a helmet integrated insulation solution. The CWL is constructed of high quality wicking DWR treated Power Stretch fleece and is compatible with all popular helmets (Ops-Core, Crye Precision, Team Wendy, MTEK, MICH, ACH). The CWL integrates with both under helmet or helmet mounted hearing protection. It is available in Black, Flat Dark Earth, and Ranger Green.

The CWL installs between the helmet shell and pads (OEM or aftermarket) using existing Velcro, requires no change to the helmet and takes less than a minute to install. Because the liner installs between the shell and the pads, it will not shift or bunch and does not interfere with other helmet borne systems.

The Kyros collection features the technical knowledge that we’ve established from years of building expedition-capable clothing systems with improvements in styling, fit and finish. Kyros will also feature a new proprietary waterproof fabric that we’ve developed in close collaboration with Cordura®. Our Lutra™ fabric is a 3L waterproof, breathable fabric that utilizes Cordura yarn to create a material that surpasses the tear strength of our competitors by nearly double. As well, each piece in the Kyros collection is completely compatible with the Axios system and can be used interchangeably as needed.

LUTRA FABRIC

We are proud to announce a new, proprietary waterproof fabric that we’ve developed in close collaboration with Cordura. Our Lutra fabric is a 3L waterproof breathable fabric that utilizes Cordura yarn to create a material that surpasses the tear strength of our competitors by nearly double. This fabric is designed to withstand abrasion while maintaining protection from the most extreme weather conditions.

Lutra is comprised of three layers: a 40D ripstop face fabric that utilizes Cordura yarn for increased durability, a 20D nylon tricot backing and a waterproof, breathable PTFE Membrane. This durable windproof and waterproof fabric will be featured in our upcoming Arx Rain Jacket and Pant from our Kyros collection. All clothing featuring our Lutra fabric will be fully seam sealed for maximum moisture protection.

Massif receives NAVAIR approval on their Revolutionary 2-Piece Flame-Resistant Flight Suit, Paving the Way to Replace Outdated Legacy Gear

Neither the jacket nor pant has to be worn with the other in terms of sizing. Massif felt it important to allow mixing and matching of sizes for a better custom fit. This ingenious design allows flexibility and movement between the jacket and pant while still aiding coverage in flash events. The result is a more user-friendly, agile garment that allows men and women to handle their demanding jobs in comfort without sacrificing safety and performance.
