SOMA-1 Wearcom Pullover
Monday, August 27th, 2012Alphyn Industries has several clothing products with elements influenced by military design. One is the SOMA-1 Wearcom Pullover.
Available in Small – XXLarge, it features a wind and water resistant laminate fleece with a SOMA smartphone pocket on the left forearm. As you can see, the 3″ x 5″ pocket is a similar design to wrist mounted aide memoires with a cover flap and straps to hold it in place.
Alphyn Industries offers a couple of other interesting designs as well including the Delta 415 Jeans that include a built in kneeboard.
FT Knox Seeks WWII Uniforms
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012This is something you don’t see every day. Ft Knox has put out a solicitation for WWII USGI militaria for use on mannequins. That alone in unusual. Even more so, is that they are using an online reverse auction to buy the stuff. Considering the cost of authentic gear, not to mention reproductions and the large sizes of some of the items, the chance that the Army will get ripped off on this deal is very big. There’s no such thing as a bargain on WWII collector’s items.

Winter is coming so it’s a good time to start thinking about overwhites. The Arc’teryx LEAF Wraith is excellent for this purpose. Since it’s available in both White and Crocodile it’s also excellent as a general camouflage garment for those that need to cover street clothing. US Cavalry Covers The Propper TAC.U Combat Shirt
Monday, August 20th, 2012US CAV has produced a great video covering the Propper International TAC.U Combat Shirt we first mentioned during SHOT Show 2011. It features several features nit found on other combat shirts. For example, there is loop for a nametape on back of the collar, fully articulated elbow with external elbow pad openings, integrated dual cuff with thumb hole and hook-and-loop fasteners, multiple dual layer pockets on sleeves and a double layer stretch shoulder with shoulder pad pockets. That’s right, padding is integrated directly into the garment’s shoulders.
The sleeves are manufactured from a 65/35 poly/cotton “battlerip” ripstop weave, and the body of the shirt is a 60/40 knitted cotton/poly mix.
MMI Introduces DEPSOC 360 Pre-Orders

Developed by HDI and marketed by MMI, DEPSOC was originally conceived for use by US Army snipers. Since then the family of patterns was expanded for the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort and further expanded for commercial use.
In addition to the Pursuit Button Down seen here, they are also offering the Pursuit Cargo Pant as well as Stealth Performance Ts in short and long sleeves. These look great for Fall hunting.
