Propper Adds Army Combat Pant to Online Catalog

Propper has added their version of the Army Combat Pant to their ecommerce site. We covered the pant in-depth during last year’s Modern Day Marine, showing the various features. The ACP is manufactured from TenCate Defender M and integrates the Crye Precision knee pad.

This indicates that it may soon be for sale, at least to Government clients. Their description –

“The PROPPER ACP based on the Crye design is a specialized garment incorporating feedback from field trials and tests conducted in Afghanistan. The ACP, while resembling the appearance of the current Fire Resistant Army Combat Uniform (FRACU), includes unique features, capabilities and characteristics necessary for improved performance on the modern battlefield.

The ACP offered by PROPPER is available in the Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP or MultiCam).”

Breaking News – Dutch Seeking New Combat Uniforms

Earlier today, the Dutch military released a solicitation seeking manufacture of a new combat uniform.

-A new basic combat uniform for the entire armed force of the Netherlands including the Army, Air Force and most likely Marines as well
-Made in the official new camouflage pattern of the Netherlands, Fractal Pattern Green (NFP Green) and most likely adapted as well, NFP-TAN (Arid version)
-180 grams Flame Retardant fabric with insect repellant qualities
-Initial delivery of 13500 sets in the first year for NFP-Green uniforms

So far we don’t have any official photos of this new pattern. However, we understand that the basic pattern geometry in this photo is correct although there may be some slight shading changes.

OR Follow – Up Arc’teryx Spring 13 – Pt 2

As if the hoody and pants we showed earlier today wasn’t enough, we thought you might like these as well.

I am a Big fan of hoodies and I can’t wait for the Witness Hoody which features a full length zipper opening.

In their product display, Arc’teryx paired the Witness with the Aristo Pant. As you can see it features an uber-articulated knee. Below is a little better look at the knee detail. It is somewhat reminiscent of the articulation found on the Drac/Sphinx/Talos minus the webbing reinforcement.

OTTE Gear Releases Overwatch Anorak

OTTE Gear has released the Overwatch Anorak that we showed you during SHOT Show 2011. Manufactured from Schoeller NanoSphere, the oversized anorak cut fits over your equipment.

We think OTTE Gear did a great job defining the product –

“Designed to augment the traditional ghille, the Overwatch allows the marksman to keep his kit concealed when the environment requires both discretion and weather protection.”

They’ve refined the design a little bit and it’s now available.
1. Packs down and takes little room in a rucksack
2. Oversized hood accommodates helmet
3. Loop on sleeve for I.D.
4. Elastic webbing on hood, shoulders and upper back for garnishing
5. Forearm zip pocket holds a removable 4” x 6” plastic dope card sleeve
6. Thumb loop so jacket sleeve won’t ride up
7. Cuffs have laminated die-cut hook/loop adjustments

OR – Helly Hansen

Helly Hansen was started in 1877 by a Norwegian sea Captain who created the first waterproof jacket from canvas impregnated in linseed oil. Today they are a global business that produces everything from high fashion to footwear. But, they still well known for their waterproof shells and Lifa, their base layer brand.

This is a display of their hydrophobic Lifa Dry. Yes, it is floating on top of the water. After hours in the tank other brands soak up water and sink. Amazingly, the Lifa continues to float based on its hydrophobic properties.

The Fast Pack Jacket is a lightweight waterproof breathable shell. Part of the Helly Hansen Odin series, it weighs a scant 242 grams or 8.4 oz! It’s a fully seam sealed design with a vent through pocket. It packs into the size of a baseball if you’re manly enough to squeeze it tight. Available now.

Finally, I’d like to mention that HH provided garments for last year’s wounded warrior ascent of Everest. HRH Prince Harry participated in the expedition.

OR – XGO

XGO has developed the modern equivalent the classic headover. The new Neck Pipe is a Multi-use, moisture wicking, anti-microbial performance accessory piece. It can be used in a variety of ways and will replace several items in the Soldier’s kit bag such as the watch cap, scarf, balaclava, and neck gaiter.

The Neck Pipe on the left is FR and the version on the right is Mid-weight performance.

Look for the FR initially in Sand with color options expanding to Sand, Coyote and Black. Mid and heavy weight performance Neck Pipes will be offered in Sand and Black.
