Darn Tough

As our readers know, we are big fans of Darn Tough Vermont and so is the US military. Several of their products are issued through RFI and they recently developed a Sock Kit for a US customer. It covers everything a foot craves; comfort and warmth.

Darn Tough Vermont Tactical Sock Kit
Socks are described below and are in order from Left to Right.

This five sock system was developed with members of the Special Forces community to offer a family of socks to cover any mission in any climate. Darn Tough Vermont socks are known for their long term durability and comfort. The fine gauge Merino wool used in these socks is naturally anti microbial, fast wicking/fast drying and will keep the wearer warm even when wet. Dense terry loops for cushioning without bulk and heavily re-enforced heels and toes are just two of the features that make these socks unique.

The ¼ Sock Mesh is a light weight PT sock with reinforced heels and toes. The cuff breaks approximately 2” above the ankle. These socks have open mesh knitting on the top of the foot for greater breathability and no cushioning on the bottom of the foot for a performance fit.

The Nordic Boot Ultra Light is a light weight ¾ height tactical socks that is approximately 7” tall. The heels and toes are reinforced and there is no cushioning on the bottom of the foot for a performance boot fit. The leg is a rib knit construction.

Category: Tactical Boots
The Micro Crew is a ¾ height tactical sock that is approximately 6” tall. The leg is a flat 5 x 1 rib construction with resilient terry loop cushioning on the foot bottom.

1403 Merino Wool Boot Sock Cushion

Color: Graphite
Category: All Condition Boot Sock
The Boot Sock Cushion is a mid calf sock that is approximately 9.5” tall. The foot bottom and leg is surrounded by resilient terry loop cushioning.

1405 Merino Wool Boot Sock Full Cushion

Ops-Core
Ops-Core showed variants of the Future Assault Shell Technology (FAST) bump and ballistic shelled helmets developed to support a recent military solicitation. The FAST helmets use a special variant of the Accessory Rail Connector (ARC) that follows the contour of the ear cut. Additionally, these helmets were dipped in Multicam and include VAS shrouds and Ops-Core’s proprietary Head-Loc chin-strap. Look for a full T&E Soon.

Propper Goes FR at SHOT Show

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Propper

It looks like FR is the “in thing” for this year’s SHOT Show and Propper is sure to satisfy. In addition to their commercial FRACU (Fire-Resistant Army Combat Uniform), they will be unveiling Fire Resistant System (FRS) from Adventure Tech.

Additionally, Propper continues to innovate with the No Fly Zone® Army Combat Uniform “Apparel That Repels Insects”, AF APECS and GEN II ECWCS manufactured in the Dominican Republic and a cool and comfortable 100% Cotton ABU (Airman Battle Uniform).

Propper APCU Level V

Last but not least Propper will showcase their popular Advanced Protective Combat Uniform (APCU). I have been using the Level V Jacket and Trousers in Multicam for about two months now and they are both comfortable and durable. In fact the entire line was developed as an improved alternative to the issue PCU. To purchase APCU contact US Cav.

Be sure to visit Propper at Booth number 8877.

VertX Debuts at SHOT Show

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Newcomer VertX will be sharing booth space at SHOT show with Arc’teryx. Although newcomer doesn’t aptly describe VertX who is an off shoot of Fechheimer; well established makers of Flying Cross Public Safety wear. Arc’teryx and Flechheimer are no strangers to one another and have collaborated on the Justice Jacket, an Arc’teryx design (Gamma) modified for LE use with epaulets and holstered weapon access. The Justice Jacket is an exclusive product for Flying Cross.

They will be debuting two new pieces; their Tactical Pant and Action Polo. We don’t want to spill the beans on the new products but we can say a few things. he name VertX is a derivative of “Covert” and their line is intended to avoid attention, not attract it. For example, several unique features belie the covert nature of the pants. To quote VertX, “In a market full of garments that scream “shoot me”, this pant is in style for “Any time, any place, any mission””. Rumor has it there will even be some of the trousers in Multicam for the crawd that must blend into a different environment.

Catch a sneak peak at www.wearvertx.com. Be sure to check out Vertx at the SHOT Show in Booth Number 6491.
