Patriot Ordnance Factory has come a long way from its humble beginnings. In 2002, an aerospace engineer by the name of Frank Desomma started POF-USA in his garage, and has been making a name for themselves ever since. Their latest move was completed in late 2017 into a custom built 27,000 square foot, two story, freestanding building, nearly triple is size of their old headquarters. Plus, an array of solar panels has been installed to take advantage of the 299 days of sunshine Phoenix, AZ has to offer to help lower overall operating cost.

Patriot Ordnance Factory’s new manufacturing facility is complete with multiple test-firing ranges, training rooms, increased manufacturing capabilities, full-service pro shop, and more. The larger facility will allow POF-USA to expand its offerings, such as their new offerings of Glock® slides and .300 Blackout rifles, pistols, and upper receivers.

Regarding this move, Patriot Ordnance Factory CEO Frank Desomma said, “For us, a move into a facility of this size is just as much about our faith in our country’s citizens as it is in increasing our ability to deliver better product, more efficiently. A company’s facility doesn’t always mean much to its customers. However, our customers are different. They are red-blooded, fire-breathing patriots. They care about your country’s success, appreciate American made goods, and reap the benefits that freedom provides. To us, freedom provides the ability to innovate. To think freely, and differently, and to deliver the best product we can, without restrictions. In a time where hard work and self-reliance is laughed at instead of lauded, we’re proud that our customers trust their lives to our rifles. This new facility is dedicated to them, and all freedom loving Americans. We promise to use it to its full potential by delivering the only thing we know how… The Ultimate Fighting Machines.”

05617606-BE61-47D3-9008-291C5B609615

RECOIL OFFGRID Issue 23 went on sale December 1. This will be the last issue with Vuong at the helm. As the Southern California-based journalist announced in his final letter from the editor, he has resigned his position to become a freelance writer and consultant, and to spend more time with his family.

Vuong, who holds instructor ranks in multiple fighting systems, including Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, will also now be able to devote more time teaching. He will be spending more time with students and also consulting on matters of edged and contact distance weapons and self-defense – though he says this does not mean he will be abandoning his journalistic career.

A lifelong journalist, Vuong left a Managing Editor’s billet for a previous publication to join RECOIL in mid 2012 as Senior Editor. Working directly under Editor-in-Chief Iain Harrison, Vuong helped grow the nascent magazine from a dark horse brand in a dying print market to the No. 1 best-selling firearms lifestyle book on newsstands. In late 2013, Vuong took on an additional assignment as editor of RECOIL OFFGRID, a spin-off publication that focuses on emergency preparedness and urban survival. Under his tenure, that brand climbed to become the No. 1 best-selling survival magazine on newsstands.

During his five years at the RECOIL Network, both RECOIL and RECOIL OFFGRID were awarded numerous industry acknowledgements, including several Maggie Awards. Vuong wrote and photographed feature articles, directed and co-hosted segments on RECOILtv.com, and helped edit two successful, successive publications: CONCEALMENT and CARNIVORE.

Though no longer a staff editor, Vuong will continue to contribute to RECOIL, RECOIL OFFGRID, their sister publications, publishing companies, and other media outlets.

Vuong can be contacted directly via e-mail, Patrick@fluidfighting.com. Follow him on Instagram, @calmbatives.

End Of The Trail

December 1, 2017
Ibex is winding down. More specifically, Ibex is in the process of closing down its current business, and will cease operations as we know them sometime in February. As we sell through our remaining inventory, please understand that all sales are final, and we will not be taking returns or exchanges.

The passion inside the Ibex brand–for our products and for our customers–is very much alive, and we are confident that Ibex will get more time on the trail after we close out this current adventure. It has been an amazing one, and as we sell through our remaining products, we will remember the many great times we have all had together, and will be dreaming of what comes next.

We have always valued our relationships with our partners, fans and customers. We would not have had this epic journey if it weren’t for you. As we look to the end of this adventure, we are filled with gratitude and respect for those we’ve walked with along the way. To the shearers, spinners, knitters and sewers who helped us build our products: thank you. You helped us make great clothing, and we had fun doing it. To all Ibex employees, past and present: you filled this adventure with passion, love, and amazing stories (some of which best left untold). And to our customers: our goal was always to put you first and you rewarded us tenfold. Thank you for all the love and support.

All of us here have loved being a part of Ibex, being a part of a brand that has believed in the power of outdoor recreation, and of being impassioned members of the outdoor industry. It was core to what we did every day, and to what we all believe in.

As a way of honoring our passions, now through February, you have a chance to make a donation to one of two groups that have supported Ibex along the way.

Conservation Alliance
To help fuel and fund the protection and creation of North America’s wild places
Outdoor Industry Association
To help folks find jobs in the amazing outdoor industry
To support its Outdoor Foundation, which focuses on getting kids outside
Those of us left…we continue to take things day by day. We show up to work trying our best to support one another, to take care of our customers, and wholeheartedly try to create the best outcome for the Ibex brand. It’s not the work we had hoped to be doing together, but it’s important, so we push to bring our best.

As always, we thank you for the years of support and for the passion you have for our products and our brand. Please keep an eye out for great promotions on products we made with love, consider donating to the organizations above that have been a part of our world for a long time, and join us in dreaming about some epic next adventures.

We’ll see you down the trail.

Ted Manning, Ibex CEO

So long Ibex, we bid you adieu.
