Spyderco – Pygmy Warrior

Tuesday, May 31st, 2016

Designed by combat veteran and lifelong martial artist Bob Taylor, the Pygmy is machined from CTS BD1 stainless steel and features full-tang construction as well as non-reflective Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating. An interesting feature is that curve of the blade is computer optimized to match the natural arc of motion of the human arm and ensure maximum energy transfer during a thrust. The blade also incorporates sawteeth on the back of the blade.

The handle incorporates a “stackable” construction. It uses two outer scales and two spacers that allow you to custom tune the grip size to your hand. The sheath is Boltaron® with a G-Clip attachment.

The Pygmy Warrior comes with a copy of the book “The Warrior Path.”

Warrior West – Gerber Custom Fit Sheath

Friday, May 6th, 2016

The Gerber Custom Fit Sheath is an adaptive sheath system that will accommodate a wide variety of items as well as carry methods. The pouches are adjustable for height and width as well as retention. This is because it uses a combination of elastic and Velcro. One of the key features of the Custom Fit Sheath is the unidirectional Velcro which is called Quiet Deploy Velcro. You can adjust the height of the flap and tightness of the retention at the rear of the pouch.

It is available in both Dual and Quad versions. The Quad model is shown here amd it’s called a quad becuase each side has two slots, one in front of the other. This allows for a light and a knife, for example.

The pouch is fully PALS compliant but can also be attached to traditional belts.

Additionally, while these are made overseas, fully Berry compliant versions in Coyote are on their way.
