Qore Performance Introduces IceVents Plate Carrier Shoulder Pads

McLean, VA, JUL. 11, 2018 Introducing IceVents: the plate carrier shoulder pad that can absorb 5000 pounds per square inch.

IceVents Plate Carrier Shoulder Pads are the result of a unique and exclusive collaboration between Qore Performance and Supracor using their proprietary Stimulite Technology. Stimulite is a highly sophisticated, impact-absorbing hexagonal honeycomb thermoplastic elastomer or TPE that is currently used in some of the world’s most advanced aircraft including the F/A-18 Hornet and the 787 Dreamliner.

IceVents can be added to any load bearing gear like plate carriers, backpacks and sling bags; delivering incredible end-user benefits not found anywhere else in the market. The proprietary, omni-directional, hexagonal venting pattern keeps users dry and comfortable all day. The plush honeycomb matrix is 90% air by volume, making it one of the lightest plate carrier shoulder pads on the market today, at just 0.6 ounces or 17 grams (the weight of a first class letter or half a piece of bread).

IceVents wider design, combined with the compressibility of the hexagonal honeycomb, distributes applied force across a broader area resulting in increased comfort and decreased fatigue over long periods of time under load. The air-dominant architecture of IceVents are impossible to tear by hand, but can be trimmed with scissors or a sharp blade for a custom fit.

Inherently anti-microbial, IceVents naturally reduce odor and maintenance while improving hygiene. Mild soap and water can be used to wash IceVents if needed.

A single 36” length of Back2Back is included with each pair of IceVents for end-user configurable plate carrier/pack mounting and cord/tube management. @GarandThumb designed the communications cord integration.

Many of you may know my long-time friend Mel Terkla. He and his wife Rena have started a new company called PocketUp, specializing in load carriage.

They started out with various pockets for organizing larger packs but they are introducing the Park Pack, a simple daypack design.

Website Back In Service – MVT Special Operations Rig (SOR) Available in Ranger Green & Coyote Brown

The Special Operations Rig (SOR) was designed in collaboration with SOF personnel, specifically to fill the need for a chest rig / PC panel that is optimized for operational use, while able to comfortably carry the AN/PRC 152 radio to the front / side of the body. This has resulted in four kydex magazine pouches (5.56) flanked by two collapsible side pouches that enhance the rig by allowing the carriage of two radios (one each side), or 2 x 5.56 magazines in each radio pouch, or use the pouches for admin items or leave them collapsed. In addition, the front of the radio pouches have four rows of MOLLE, for the attachment of admin pouches as needed.

These specific design features and capabilities have resulted in a chest rig that is extremely versatile to varying load requirements, and will suit non-military as well as military personnel, whether or not you carry a radio on your gear. It can be used entirely as a standalone chest rig, attached to a plate carrier, or as a hybrid allowing optional attachment to a plate carrier, depending on the tactical situation.

Wear the SOR with the supplied H-harness, over a Plate Carrier or standalone.

Utilize the supplied PC Kit to attach the SOR directly to your Plate Carrier.

Multiple use options, as an assault panel over a PC, or standalone in ‘recce mode.’

The SOR is designed to allow the radio pouches to adjust comfortably across your chest, or if worn over a PC, the radio/mags fit into the space beside your front plate.

Reversible Inner Belts (RIB) Now Available at Mean Gene Leather

We have been reporting on “Mean” Gene Higdon’s company since it launched four years ago. This is the latest in a series of new products MGL has released, though building any of them was impossible for a while because of the hurricane. Many people don’t realize the former saddlemaker is usually up and sewing by about 4am, and rarely quits until long after this grandkids bedtime.

Mean Gene Leather recently announced the availability of the new MGL Reversible Inner Belt (RIB). The RIB is designed to function as sharp, buckle-less EDC belt (with the leather outboard) or the under-belt for a duty rig (with the loop outboard), providing all the stability one needs for IWB, OWB, or “full duty” carry.

Hurricane Florence made it a bit difficult to obtain a Reversible Inner Belt for a while, but thankfully Mean Gene’s facility survived Flo’s drubbing and they’re back at it.

The RIB is very similar to the MGL Free Flight belt (q.v.), the difference being the addition of a polymer stiffener and hook-and-loop interior lining instead of a second layer of leather. This gives the wearer an everyday wear belt that simultaneously provides the option of flipping around, whether at need (throwing a full rig on from a kit bag) or just for convenience (stepping out of the courtroom and going back On The Job). Unlike nylon belts and rigger belts, the RIB is not clearly a tactical accessory.

RIBs are sewn individually at the time of order and will require a few days to build before shipping. Lead times are determined by MGL’s work load and availability of materials by suppliers.

MBL Reversible Inner Belt Features & Specs:

· Hand built using 8/0 oz. leather
· The RIB belt is available in all 10 MGL leather colors* with 5 options of matching or contrasting thread.
· Thread color options include black, brown, old sand, white, and steel grey
· RIB belt width is 1.5 in. only
· Standard sizes include 28 to 48 (US). For bigger or smaller, contact MGL**
· Male and female versions available (8 in. overlap and 5 in. overlap respectively)
· Weight will depend upon the size of the belt, but is typically in the 1 lb. range.
· Dimensions 13.45 x 11.63 x 2.25 in.
· Double stitching with #277 Bonded Nylon thread for strength and durability.
· Layers laminated with industrial strength adhesives in addition to the stitching
· Burnished and dyed edges.
· Hand conditioned with Ray Holes Saddle Butter Leather Conditioner before packaging for a soft, supple feel and increased flexibility.

*Rich Brown and Golden Brown are English Bridle Leather; Crazy Horse, Antique Brown, and Dirty Grey are premium water buffalo hide. All other colors are high quality vegetable tanned leather.

1. Wear the pants you normally would.
2. Measure around yourself, preferably using a cloth or other flexible measuring tape.
3. If you carry IWB, handgun or mag pouches or both, do so as you measure.

DO NOT USE PANTS OR TRADITIONAL BELT SIZE FOR YOUR RIB – IT MAY NOT FIT CORRECTLY IF YOU DO.

Carbon Tactics EPOCH Belt Now On Kickstarter

EPOCH is the 11th Kickstarter edition to the Carbon Tactics line. This belt with a unique quick release buckle is the result of almost a year of prototyping, testing, and listening to feedback from their customers and beta testers.

Here are some features:

The buckle is machined aluminum, with patches in three colors: Black, Silver, and Dark Earth. Additionally, the belt itself is available in single or double thickness nylon as well as a Biothane hybrid option.
