February 5, 2016 – North Carolina based small manufacturer Misty Mountain Threadworks, Inc. announced that it has entered into a partnership with Australian based military and tactical distributor Southern Cross Equipment PTY LTD of New South Wales, Australia to supply the Australian Department of Defence with Misty Mountain’s ISH harness.
Misty Mountain and Southern Cross have been working together for three years to develop the market for ISH and other Misty Mountain harnesses in Australia and New Zealand. Their first meeting was at the biannual Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in held in Salt Lake City, UT. Spencer McDonald of Southern Cross stopped at the Misty Mountain booth manned by Operations Manager Mike Lavarnway and President Goose Kearse. Spencer’s eye was caught by the Integrated Stealth Harness, a scalable personal protection system with belt, leg loops, and chest harness. ISH was designed and developed in conjunction with retired USAF PJ Ish Antonio and is the harness solution for USSOCOM’s TCCC CASEVAC Kit.
Spencer seeded key operators in the ADF with Misty Mountain harnesses and gear. He took in their feedback and helped Misty Mountain develop custom solutions as needed to best meet the Australian requirements. As a result of the Australian commandos’ evaluation of the ISH system they have selected the ISH Original Belt, Leg Loops, and Chest Harness for their personal protective harness. The ISH Sit Kit formed by the ISH Original Belt and Leg Loops and the ISH Chest harness all carry the UIAA Safety Label. The VAS (Vision Augmentation System) Soft Harness is an adjustable harness which allows the wearer to comfortably mount a single or multi-tube NVD or other device when a helmet is not feasible or necessary. The VAS features an adjustable chin strap with positive lock hardware, which is coupled with a TW Cam-Fit system with Boa dial. Release System
This intuitive design is a single pull release from any direction with the user’s dominant or non-dominant hand detaching the shoulder strap and cummerbund in an instant. The PlateFrame Release System is retrofitted to any S&S Precision PlateFrame and can be installed on the left and/or right hand side depending on user preference.
Closed Cell Floatation
The closed cell floatation system is made from closed cell foam and serves to counter the weight of a ballistic plate for neutral buoyancy. The floatation system is capable of neutralizing up to 5 lbs per plate, 10 lbs per set.
Cummerbund Adapter
The Cummerbund Adapter is a modular attachment platform for use with S&S Precision’s minimalist PlateFrame. Designed for reinforced strength and modularity, it attaches via simple buckles for reliability.

LiftR Series Modular Floatation
The LiftR-40 is intended to be used in surface and subsurface operations. The LiftR-40 is attached to existing combat equipment by slipping it on and over the shoulder straps and cummerbund of the operator’s plate carrier. The LiftR-40 is self-packing and modular to fit most brand’s plate carriers. The LiftR-40 provides the appropriate amount of lift necessary to bring a diver/swimmer to the surface and float them in a face up orientation. The Depth/Lift Requirements are assuming the operator is wearing a full operational equipment load.
The LiftR Series Modular Floatation can be worn with or without armor using one of the two attachment systems below. The Stand Alone Harness is used when armor is not needed but floatation is critical. The Rebreather Attachment System allows the operator to easily connect rebreather systems to the S&S Precision PlateFrame and LiftR.
