Friday, February 21st, 2014

turtle_harness_01

The Turtle’s Harness from CTOMS is a MOLLE plate carrier integrated chest harness system that creates a mid-chest attachment point for hoisting and high angle work. Fully compatible with the CTOMS M-Harness, the Turtle’s Harness raises the attachment point, significantly mitigating the potential of inverting, especially when wearing a heavy pack. It’s designed so that it integrates behind any pouches on the plate carrier, so as to not impede access or disrupt and/or crush contents such as radios and ammunition.

Available in Black and Coyote Brown.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Belt Systems

Friday, February 14th, 2014

This week, we are looking at Belt Systems. Specifically, FirstSpear offers a line of Belt Systems with components that can be used in conjunction with one another. In some cases they canb also be used as stand alones or to augment gear already in your kit bag. The items include the Assaulters Gun Belt (AGB), Padded AGB Sleeve, Tactical Suspenders, as well as the Line One Belt and 6/9 BeltLink.

Assaulters Gun Belt

FS Patterned AGB
The AGB utilizes a two-piece metallic buckle, it’s a strong belt that will stand up to daily use as well as combat equipped buddy drags. It can be integrated to the OAGRE for additional equipment space and also accommodate many different FirstSpear components that will help optimize it for the full spectrum of tactical and discretionary operations. Sizes Small – XLarge, in MultiCam, Khaki and Black

Padded AGB Sleeve

AGB Sleeve
The Padded AGB Sleeve fits over the AGB or similar gun belt to provide support, comfortable padding and additional load-bearing capability; compatible with standard MOLLE-style pouches as well as FirstSpear’s 6/9 and 6/12 pouch line. D-Rings included to attach to multiple suspension system harnesses.

Low Profile Tactical Suspenders

Low Profile Tactical Suspenders
These Tactical Suspenders are designed to support the additional weight of a loaded up Padded AGB Sleeve 6/12, particularly when ballistic inserts or multiple pockets are attached. Fully adjustable and low profile, they won’t get in the way of your armor.

Line One Belt

You wear pants everyday right? So how about a belt that you can wear with a pair of blue jeans just as easily as with your combat pants? That’s where the Line One Belt comes in. Made from BioThane, a Urethane covered Nylon offering superior strength and weather-resistance; it won’t crack, peel, or become stiff in frigid temperatures. Specially tempered, non-slip coating eliminates “break-in” time and allows for flex like leather, yet it is impervious to sweat and water and will not stretch or lose its original shape. Offered in Black or Coyote, sizes Small – XLarge, it isn’t fancy but it does feature the FirstSpear logo embossed fittingly, at the tip.

FS 6/9 BeltLink

BeltLink
The FS 6/9 BeltLink makes it simple to attach any of the popular 6/9 attachment-style FirstSpear pouches to an AGB or similar duty-style belt. Sold in sets of two. Simple, but effective.

This video gives you a great overview and shows you how to configure your gear.

While we can’t always expect a deal, FirstSpear has been generous enough to offer something special this week. Buy one AGB and get a set of free 6/9 belt links. When you add the AGB to the cart a set of TWO 6/9 belt links will add automatically to cart.

Extreme Gear Labs – modGATOR AK Chest Rig

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014

modgatorload

The modGATOR is Extreme Gear Lab’s dedicated AK magazine chest rig. A variant of the GATOR 5 mag chest rig, the modGATOR differs from the GATOR in that the TQ attachment webbing from below the magazine pockets, zippered accessory pockets, and tearaway medical pouch is removed.

What’s left is a functional, lightened chest rig that can hold 5 AK-47/74 magazines, a general purpose pocket, STUFFIT pocket, and 6 pistol/multitool pockets. The general purpose pocket can hold an MS2000 strobe, 4″ dressing, and pocket signal banner. The STUFFIT pocket can lie flat or expand outward, accomodating up to M18 smoke cans, PRC148/152 radios, or X26 tasers. The pistol mag pockets are sized to accomodate up to Glock 21 mags. On either side of the magazine assemblies are skeletonized PALS to reduce weight while maintaining full capacity.

Skeletonized Magazine Retention from S&S Precision

Friday, January 31st, 2014

SMR

Back in late September we gave you a sneak peek at S&S Precision’s Skeletonized Magazine Retention. This video gives you some additional info as well as depicts quite well how it wears and works. If you want some history on the system, head back over to the original article.

Yeah, back then we messed with you a little bit by not disclosing any info on the DUST-E which protects the top of the magazine when it’s inserted into the SMR. It’s not that we didn’t want to tell you, but rather, S&S precision wasn’t quite ready to show everything. They had a valid concern that it would be knocked off before SHOT Show. I’ve got to say, it’s pretty entertaining watching guys go on and on, putting something down that they haven’t seen in person. It’s even funnier when you tell them that it’s covered and they just can’t stop talking about it (Ok, I’ll admit it, it did hit a point where it was annoying). So, the rest of the story is that they had the upside down open top magazine issue covered all along and the answer is the DUST-E which is an insert for the SMR. In fact, I photographed the very items seen in this video for the sneak peek article. They literally left the next day for the photo shoot.

All-in-all it’s a cool system and can be used without a PlateFrame with their new Rhodesian Rig, MOLLE adapters and Belt Adapters. Before you ask, that’s ODG camo.
