FirstSpear Friday Focus: Vertical Entry Belt

Friday, August 1st, 2025

The Vertical Entry Belt is a high-performance battle belt designed for elite users who require tactical versatility and vertical entry capability. Engineered to meet the SOCOM Retention Standard and modified NFPA testing, this belt is built for demanding, high-angle environments.

It features a quickly removable 6/12 Modular Over-Flap, allowing the user to scale loadouts as needed with full compatibility for 6/12, 6/9, and MOLLE-style pouches. The minimalist design keeps bulk and weight to a minimum, enabling greater freedom of movement and reduced fatigue in the field.

Despite its lean profile, the belt offers exceptional modularity and tactical readiness.

The unpadded construction allows it to be worn over a Base Belt Lite, utilizing exposed hook material to secure the system without the need for suspenders. This enhances its adaptability while maintaining a sleek, low-profile silhouette. Whether worn alone or in conjunction with the 6/12 Over-Flap, the system remains streamlined and mission-capable.

Its integration with the Vertical Entry Harness (restricted) transforms it into a full-spectrum fighting system for vertical access, urban climbing, or high-angle assault missions. Designed with input from professional users, it bridges the gap between load carriage and climbing systems. Every element of the belt is built with intentionality—optimized for users who demand peak performance in the harshest environments. Made to work seamlessly across platforms and kit configurations, it provides an efficient and dependable solution for tactical professionals. Wednesday, July 30th, 2025

SWANSBORO, NC – July 29, 2025 – High Speed Gear, an industry leader in tactical gear and nylon equipment, is proud to announce the release of its GEN 2 TACO product line and GEN 2 Operator Belt in two new color options: Silver Tan and Spruce Green. These new additions were developed in direct response to requests from law enforcement agencies seeking mission-specific color variants to better meet their uniform and operational needs.

The GEN 2 TACO line builds upon the legendary performance of the original TACO series, known for its versatility, durability, and ability to securely hold a wide range of magazines and tools. Now, with the addition of Silver Tan and Spruce Green, agencies can further optimize their gear loadout for their unique environments and uniform standards.

“Many of our law enforcement partners operate in jurisdictions where traditional tactical colors may not be ideal,” said Gary Robbins, Director of Law Enforcement Business Development at High Speed Gear. “By expanding our GEN 2 TACO line, and now the GEN 2 Operator Belt, into Silver Tan and Spruce Green, we’re providing solutions that align with the specific needs and aesthetics of these departments, while maintaining the performance and quality they’ve come to expect from HSG.”

Both product lines retain all the core features professionals rely on:

GEN 2 TACO Features:

• Universal fit for rifle and pistol mags, tools, and other accessories

• Improved mounting system for MOLLE and belt compatibility

• Enhanced materials and construction for extended durability in the field

GEN 2 Operator Belt Features:

• Reinforced two-belt system for superior support and load distribution

• Hook/loop interface to prevent shifting during movement

• Compatible with TACO pouches and most tactical gear on the market

The new color variants are available now through High Speed Gear and its authorized dealer network.

Arktis Jaeger Rig from KommandoStore

Monday, July 28th, 2025

KommandoStore continues to add to their reproductions of classic gear designs with the Jaeger Rig built for them by Arktis.

Created by the Soviets during their 1980 foray into Afghanistan, the original rigs were based on Chicom rigs being worn by their foes, the Mujahadeen. Over time these were refined into the deaign we now know as the Jaeger.

If you’re into the history of kit, their page dedicated to this epic chest rig has some great info.

The Jaeger features three main magazine pockets with internal plastic dividers. These will accommodate 30 round AK as well as M16 magazines. Remove the divider and you can put even more gear in the pockets.

Next to the outer two mag pockets, there are covered pouches for flares or other items.

The four smaller pouches are perfect for boo-boo kits, compact Tourniquets, compasses & GPS units, and of course, grenades.

There’s also a flapped compartment behind all of the pockets for documents. This comes with a removable document holder to protect maps and other sensitive docs in a water-resistant package.

The padded X-harness also incorporates metal Spanish-style shoulder harness buckles for quick-doffing.
