September 12, 2019. UVision Air Ltd. – a global leader in the area of Loitering Munition Systems of all sizes for a variety of missions? will present its HERO series of Loitering Munitions at Modern Day Marine for the first time. An integrated solution will be showcased detailing UVision multi-canister launcher mounted on an Oshkosh JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle).

The most amazing thing I saw at Modern Day Marine was the new Bell V-247 which is intended as a candidate for the US Marine Corps’ Marine Air Ground Task Force – Unmanned Expeditionary Capabilities (MUX) program. They set up an extension of the tent in order to House the aircraft. But based on public interest, it was difficult to photograph it completely.

Based on development of the tilt-rotor V-22 and V-280, the V-247 is an unmanned system optimized for hover over speed in order to be used for persistent 24-hour ISR coverage as well as aerial fires. It can also be used as an armed escort for the two troop transport tilt-rotors.

It boasts more than 8 hours on station with 600 lbs of payload at a 450 nm mission radius and up to 1300 nm or 12 hours maximum on station. The service ceiling is 25,000 ft with no concern for an environmental system for a crew. The total payload is 2,000 internal or 9,000 lbs payload. The cruise speed is 240 kts and over 300 kts at max power.

The V-247 has the same shipboard footprint of a UH-1Y and can be operated from a Guided Missile Destroyer or larger ship.

Black Diamond Advanced Technology exhibited their full line of tactical C4 systems. They have created many different cables to mate communications and computing devices together.

Their BARE Kit 1-Port Hub Systems connect a Harris AN/PRC-152/A, AN/PRC-117G, or L3 Technologies TacE directly to your Android or Windows End User Device (EUD). The Bare Kit Systems allow for POWER + DATA between connected peripherals and EUD devices such as the Panasonic FZ-M1, GETAC MX50, or Samsung phones. Operators can also recharge EUD’s from the Radio. The Bare Kit’s minimalist design allows users to integrate onto any vest with little to no impact to existing kit setup. The CB-0516-00 is DATA only and a bi-directional EUD cable is required for use.

No matter the trade show, I’m always asked what the coolest thing I saw was. Sure, there were cool lasers and jackets and UAVs, but the most innovative thing I saw was Wizard Wall, probably because it’s the most practical.

We all used butcher block paper in the service and most of us dealt with map overlays. While they are great ways to share information, the issue with both of them is how to hang them. Wizard Wall makes it a cinch.

Available in clear and white, it uses static cling to stay in place. Wizard Wall is dry erasable.
