Chris Costa Announces RockTape as New Syndicate Partner

Friday, September 14th, 2012

Chris Costa has announced a new syndicate partner. I’ll certainly say that Costa uses what works. Below is the story of how he learned about RockTape and adopted it. The take away here is that for him, RockTape works but he doesn’t want you using it unless you need it. Otherwise, it would be like hobbling around on crutches when your ankles are fine.

For those that saw me earlier this year I was wearing an ACE wrap on my left arm due to all the shooting and ground work I have been doing this year. I just haven’t had a chance to give my arm a break and there is really no let up in sight. A student that does cross fit showed up in my class recently with this tape on her arm and when I inquired to what it was and did it really work, she wrapped my arm up with this product called RockTape. I, like many others, figured I would just fall victim to a placebo affect and believe that having stretchy tape on my arm was really helping me. I have to say I was dead wrong. My arm normally twitches when I shoot, that twitch was gone and my arm felt almost normal when I was shooting. It gave me support but also increased blood flow that is normally restricted in that area.

RockTape makes many different types based on how aggressive and what environment you may find yourself in, for example water they make a H2O tape. One of the cool things is that this tape lasts for about five days, and yes that means taking a shower with it on. Is RockTape for everyone, NO. Don’t wear it to look cool, wear it if you need it. There are many other applications based on problem areas with the body. Please stop by and check them out.

CTOMS Granted US Patent for M-Harness

Sunday, September 9th, 2012

CTOMS just announced that they have been granted a US patent for their M-Harnes. The M-Harness is a class 2 harness built to ASTM Standards. The uniqueness of the system is that it allows the ‘riggers’ style belt to be worn in a pair of pants, or a padded MOLLE belt, to maintain the convenience of a quick release (Cobra) buckle, yet convert quickly into a sit harness without having the leg loops hard sewn to the belt and without compromising the integrity of the main belt in harness mode by capturing the quick release buckle. Even with the main buckle completely undone, in harness mode, it is still completely safe.

Multiple accessories are available for the M-Harness including armor inserts for the padding system as well as the Turtle’s Harness, which is a chest harness that incorporates into a MOLLE based armor/plate carrier without interfering with the attached pouches, and creates a second main tie in point, for vertical operations where packs or working dogs are worn on the back raising the center of gravity. CTOMS is also working on a number of other accessories and products to support their new Tactical Assault Climbing Programs and TRACE Micro Rope Systems.

The M-Harness is currently manufactured under license by CMC Rescue and sold worldwide by CTOMS and under license in the US by North American Rescue and The Peak Inc as well as other international distributors.

INFRASCAN – Infrascanner 2000ADS Tactical

Friday, September 7th, 2012

Here’s the official blurb on the the Infrascanner 2000 –
It is a portable screening device that uses Near-Infrared (NIR) technology to screen patients for intracranial bleeding, identifying those who would most benefit from immediate referral to a CT scan and neurosurgical intervention. In the triage of head trauma patients, the Infrascanner can identify patients most likely to have intracranial bleeding.

Now, think about this. You now have a diagnostic tool that you can use in the field to detect Traumatic Brain Injury. That is huge.

INFRASCAN products are available for unit and agency purchase from www.ADSinc.com.

SOTech Exhibiting at Military Health Systems Research Symposium

Monday, August 13th, 2012

SOTech will be at Military Health Systems Research Symposium (MHSRS) this week displaying new innovations to their medical panels and packs making the pouches interchangeable and quick disconnect for grab-and-go medicine. SOTech’s Rapid Access Modular Medical Panel (RAMMP) and Sliver Panel (ISMB) are standard issue and found on the walls of hospitals and medical vehicles throughout the DOD. Following the SOTech Mission Pack modularity concept, SOTech presented the SOTech Medical System Total Battle Space Solution where packs and panels from the medic to the ground vehicle to the water craft to the aircraft and into the hospital have interchangeable modular medical pouches using interchangeable high visibility labels. This promotes continuity of care, identification, and supply. The quick disconnect features follow SOTech’s go bag concept promoting leaving bulky items on the vehicles and sending runners back to grab and go specialty and resupply items from organizer panels and drop them into go bags for return into the fight. These panels interact with the other SOTech medical packs, IFAKs, and kits that are issue items of the Special Operations Forces Medical Equipment Sets (SOF-MES) which are standard issue to deploying 18 Deltas, and other SOF medical operators and now are seen issued through DLA to medical units throughout the military.

SOLAR modules, cable release pouches, tools organizers, pill dispensers, small organizer pouches and vinyl windowed pouches are also being added to SOTech’s offerings. Ironically, SOTech’s original RAMMP panels integrated vinyl windows, but the Army nixed the idea for fear of drying and cracking. But now because of demand from other branches of service, SOTech is reintroducing the windows as an option.

Also in production are series of MOLLE/PALS panels custom cut to fit the special vehicle walls. You can see SOTech tags on these panels mounted in some MRAP vehicles, Navy SBT water craft, Coast Guard helicopters, and other platforms. These pouches disconnect adapters and label systems interconnect and promote continuity across all of these platforms.

Check out SOTech in booth #84 at Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) this week in Fort Lauderdale. For information on designing panels to mount to your vehicles systems, contact clark@specopstech.com.
