M1 for Vets Shooting Events

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

M1forVets is a Non-Profit Organization Dedicated to Financial and Logistical Support of Returning Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and the Global War on Terror (GWT) “Transitioning Combat Wounded Veterans” for the Purpose of Competing in National Shooting Sports. They hold regular functions and the next shoot for the Chicagoland area is coming up on June 4th.

The event will be held at Impact Training Center which has donated the use of the range for the event and we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to DAV in their name. Others are volunteering time as instructors and range masters as well as the use of their rifles. Finally, the team is organizing rides for participants so they can make it to the event.

Military Morons Skull Patch

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

If you have been following my friend at Military Morons for awhile you will know he has a Skull with Horns designed by Pin Up artist Andrew Bawidamann as an unofficial logo. Recently, he worked with Mil-Spec Monkey to produce the logo as a PVC patch. The result is a really cool morale patch in a Glow-in-the-dark style as well as MultiCam and Desert versions. In addition to being really cool patches, MSM is donating $.50 for every one sold to our favorite charity, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Available from Mil-Spec Monkey or MSM patch dealers.

Operation Instant Jolt

Friday, April 15th, 2011

G4TV, the video game network is sponsoring Operation Instant Jolt. The idea is to send some decent coffee to our troops deployed overseas, and apparently the concept was inspired by the video Combat Coffee 101 featured here on SSD a few weeks ago. Ahhh, the power of the internet. They are asking for the public to send instant coffee to:

Operation Instant Jolt c/o G4TV
5850 W. 3rd St. #155
Los Angeles, CA 90036

They are accepting instant coffee until May 1st, 2011 so get those packages in ASAP!

OSU Buckeyes to Don Camo Helmets

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

The Ohio State University football squad will be sporting Pixelated Camouflage helmets in their upcoming April 23 home game to honor the US military. After that, half will go back to their normal color Silver scheme, while some will be autographed by Jim Tressel and sold, with all the proceeds going to benefit the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness and Warrior Support Program, LiFE (Learning in Fitness & Education) through Sports Program and the Ruth and Jesse Owens Scholars Fund.

With their orange scarlet stripe down the middle, ya gotta admit, they look kind of like an Air Force guy wearing a disco belt.
